What I did was install a stock nandroid through recovery, then relocked my bootloader. Your phone must have been previously rooted, because the phone's do not ship in that state. To re lock your boot loader just boot your phone into the bootloader, start the command prompt on your pc, and then type fastboot oem lock.

You maybe right, if that is how easy to unlock-lock, I may have unlocked it by fastboot oem locked and not remembered (it was late). This is a friends phone and I'm not used to having phones unlocked this easily.
You can leave the boot loader unlocked and still receive ota updates.

Yeah, OTA updating should have nothing do with whether your bootloader is locked or not
Rooting and unlocking the bootloader will not affect the ota, what will is custom system apps like non stock gmail, or a changed build prop (common from market enabler)

I am completely clueless of what bootloader is and after some googling, I think that it's the locking of a phone's network to a specific company like verizon, at&t etc. But, here in India, we don't have such contracts, so do I need to unlock bootloader before rooting my phone? I previously had galaxy ace and there was no mention of bootloader even when I installed all sorts of custom roms.

you just won't get root if your bootloader is locked
Unlock it for root, CWM, ROMs , etc
No, a bootloader doesn't do what you assumed, it just restricts your devices from any alteration by giving you limited access. Region locked or carrier lock is a different thing.

NO, you won't. When you apply for the code on Motorola site you lose your warranty. Even if you somehow manage to trick them, Moto G will still show status code as 2 (meaning relocked) instead of 1 (locked) or 3 (unlocked). Anybody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
The bootloader can't be unlocked on Motorola's website, someone on Telegram unlocked the bootloader of his Moto G7 Power he bought at AT&T, he sim unlocked it then put a MetroPCS sim card int here and unlocked the bootloader. What I'm wondering is if I get my phone sim unlocked, will it change the CID number? Will it make the bootloader unlockable? Will it change the bootloader? I've tried flashing MetroPCS firmware and Retail firmware, both times it changed the BL:MBM number on fastboot, so did that change the bootloader? I appreciate any help in advance. Thank you.
Nothing you can readily do will change the bootloader unlockability.
Someone unlocked the bootloader on AT&T Moto G7 Power yesterday, he said all he did was sim unlock the phone then he put in a Metro PCS sim card and then he unlocked the bootloader. Obviously it changed the bootloader because before that he wasn't able to unlock the bootloader. I know that Cricket, AT&T, and Verizon all keep their bootloaders to where they can't be unlocked which should be illegal especially since I bought the phone outright and I own the phone.
I haven't seen the details.
How was it SIM unlocked?
Changing the SIM should not change the code that is submitted on the website.
The details are on the Telegram group, he sim unlocked it by calling AT&T.

So an official unlock route.
That may have updated the code or Motorola's database so it pases for bootloader unlock.
What are the unofficial lock routes? Because obviously it's possible to root this phone somehow.

One way is buy an unlocked phone instead of one SIM locked to a carrier. Those can be bootloader unlocked out of the box.
Or go through the carrier. Policies vary so you should ask them. It appears from above that AT&T unlocking allows bootloader unlocking. That may not be true for all carriers.
There are 3rd party ways to remove a SIM lock, but that provably wouldn't allow for bootloader unlocking.
So has anybody been able to unlock bootloader on Cricket Moto g7?

Metro's G7 power can be bootloader unlocked out of the box no matter sim locked or not.

Not always true. Carriers can gray out the allow bootloader unlocking option. I know Cricket did so on an E5 Supra (Plus) I have and I just got an Xfinity G7 Power & it's the same way. Even though it remains grayed out, the E5 allowed the bootloader unlock after I got the carrier code from Cricket, but then it's not on Motorola's site so it remains bootloader locked. The G7 Power was just the opposite- I paid to have it unlocked (cheaper than a month of service). I input the numbers from ADB there and got a bootloader unlock code from Motorola right away. When I tried to use it, it failed since the bootloader unlock option on the phone remains grayed out.
From what I've read here, the Metro G7 Power is the only carrier phone I've seen that is not bootloader locked by the carrier.

I bought the supra today and sadly motorola website does not support it for unlock all other versions can be however I am hoping someone finds work around at least for root etc but totally want a bootloader unlock more than anything root and twrp without it I dont even really want the dang phone

I'm thinking about buying a Google Pixel 3 XL on Amazon, it's renewed. It is factory unlocked and I was wondering if it means it can be OEM unlocked. Does factory unlocked mean it doesn't come with a carrier?

Because I heard Verizon blocks OEM unlocking.
Factory Unlocked ( read: device without network/SIM lock ) and OEM Unlock ( read: device's bootloader is unlocked ) are completely different things, they don't relate.
Whether the phone in question can get OEM unlocked or not I don't know: I don't own such a device.

Google Pixels on Verizon can't be bootloader unlocked, I want to make sure I don't get Verizon. Factory Unlocked mean you don't have any, right?

No, Verizon may offer factory unlocked devices, but, that only means the device can be used on non-Verizon networks, it does not mean that it can be rooted, customized, modified or use custom software.
All devices have a bootloader, whether they are factory unlocked or not, the bootloader has nothing to do with "factory unlocked" and whether the bootloader is unlocked or not has nothing to do with "factory unlocked" and has nothing to do with whether or not a device has a bootloader. We are talking about two different kinds of "unlock" and they each have nothing to do with the other, they are each, their own specific purposes. "Factory unlocked" applies to the network(s) a device can be used on, "OEM unlock" applies to what software is allowed to be used on the device itself. You are confusing the two of them and associating them to each other in a way that is not correct, separate the two ideas in your head and understand each of them alone, without the other.
If you want a device that you can root and modify or use TWRP and custom ROMs on it, DO NOT BUY A VERIZON DEVICE. Do a search using the model number, if it is a Verizon model number, your search results will show that it is Verizon. What are you trying to do? What kind of "unlocked" are you looking for?
Do you want a device that is SIM/Carrier unlocked (also known as "factory unlocked") so that it can be used on a different network than it was "made" for?
Or do you want a device that has an unlocked bootloader or has a bootloader that can be unlocked by using the "OEM unlock" in order to root the device, install TWRP and custom ROMs or otherwise modify the stock software?
If you want a device that can be used on any network, you're looking for any kind of "factory unlocked" device. Many different carrier branded devices can be factory unlocked but I know that Verizon does not like allowing this on their devices.
