CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
BroadcomCM is based on the CyanogenMod Project. Our goal is to create ROMs based on CyanogenMod Sources for Broadcom BC21553 devices. All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the broadcomCM Github repo. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

First time installing CyanogenMod 9.1 to your Galaxy Y, or coming from another ROM:
Iinstall ClockworkMod Recovery.
Reboot into Recovery using 3-button-combo
Do a Nandroid backup! (Optional and only if you weren't running TouchWiz before)
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition + format /system partition)
Install the ROM from sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
Optionally install the Google Addon
Upgrading/Downgrading from CM7/CM11?
Do a Nandroid Backup!
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition + format /system partition)
Install the ROM from sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
Optionally install the Google Addon

Story:
As most of you all might know.
In the last month Broadcom was very kind to us and released the HW drivers for our devices ( BCM21553 )
These sources where based upon android 4.0.1 and thus not working on 4.0.4.
We as Team BroadcomCM (SpaceCaker and Bieltv.3) have been working from the release date till now to make these compatible with 4.0.4 ICS and tested these to make sure all edits where right.
During this we worked almost 24/7 to get it proper.
As first result we had it working on AOSP ICS 4.0.4 ( SpaceCaker Build ) But sadly on this we didn't had touchscreen working and Colors not proper.
Later we build on CM9 (Bieltv.3 build) and found out that colors as in previous build weren't proper.
After tons of work and such we found out that our problem was laying in something very simple, something we overlooked during the editing process. After Biel tried the fix it suddenly worked like it should and from then with our latest Team edits we managed to get the HW drivers ported the proper way.
Thanks to our amazing team we have got HW to work proper now.
Also A lot of thanks to Broadcom for releasing the initial drivers.

Make sure you have ADB installed
Open CMD (Windows) or terminal (Linux) http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html & http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html

yes to drivers and audio has never worked properly yet
actually read the thread as the op has written everything which answers both your questions - all you have to do is read!

Maybe few months from now we'll have aokp / paranoid android / pac roms running on our lil device.
Have you guys thought about it?

@bieltv.3, when you say Audio is not working, is that means no ringtones or just no sound while playing music ?
I just whait for that and the USB Mass Storage to be fixed, and that will be good enough for me, to be a daily usable rom

The network problem and data connection problem can be fixed by using blackreacter kernel.
It works fine but some problems in bluetooth.
The main problems (for me) are usb storage and audio.
Then cm9 would be totally stable for me.

This is a rom for Wiko Stairway. Do not install on any other device than the Wiko Stairway - I have not tested it on other clones (e.g. the Canvas4 210). If you do it anyway and it works, please report here.

- SIM1 for phone calls (incoming/outgoing) and SMS, data (2g, 3g)
- SIM2 is a WIP
- Audio (microphone - now also outside phone calls, loudspeaker, headphones, OK google)
- Sensors
- Wifi (not wifi direct)
- GPS (no A-GPS yet nor EPO assist files, so the fix can take a bit)
- hw composer
- camera for taking pictures (not video)
- wifi and usb tethering
- battery usage stats (expect the usage for Display to be very unprecise)
- bluetooth
- candy crush, facebook and twitter
What doesn't work, known bugs:
- 2nd sim card 3G switch
- Dual SIM is a WIP, not has some bugs (data connection instability, etc.)
- camera for "movies" does not work
- (hw) video en/decoding not enabled
- FM radio not available
- A-GPS does not work, GPS works though but slowish
- rest of MTK specifics (what?)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Place the zip files in sdcard.
Reboot to recovery
Wipe data/factory reset.
Wipe dalvik Cache.
Install cm11.zip and followed by gapps.
Reboot!

In this rom sim 2 data works at some extent and wifi is also working now. Wifi hotspot was not working in v0.19

Sorry for insulting but I am not insulting you. This build is worst build ever Battery backup is worst in world..In 15 minutes my battery goes down to 9% from 72%. No Camera.

Yeah camera doesn't work.. When it works, its really dark! Battery drains only when I restart the phone.. A little more screen freezes than the other ROM.. But I love that the lines while screen rotation is fixed..

If the audio is acting weird or very low: Disable AudioFX (Go to the app and turn it off)

He-he. No, I made only about 10 commits to kernel (build config and tried to temporary fix wacom driver crash - kernel panic). It's forked CM's repo.
Disabling SELinux didn't made thing.
But I have some progress with camera (but still not working) and may be RIL.
Sorry, but I have some time only in the evening and weekends.

I am not a developer but flashka07 has answered my Prayers, I was hoping for a CyanogenMod 12 ROM for the SM-N900 and just somehow my dreams came true. Although the Note 3 is my main phone but for this progress, I devote to be among the early testers....

First time installing CyanogenMod 12.1 to your Galaxy S3 I9305, or coming from another ROM:
- Read known issues ans FAQs
- Flash one of the recovery images (CWM or TWRP)
- Copy GApps and CM12.1 ZIPs to your SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM12.1 zip from SDCard
- Flash GApps zip from SDCard
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your device will be stuck at boot)
- Reboot
- Don't restore system data using Titanium Backup!
- Restoring Apps + Data might cause problems and is not recommended, avoid it if possible!
Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 12.1:
- Copy CM12.1 ZIP to your SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM12.1 zip from SDCard
- Reboot

Amazing work on this rom! I have found one problem so far which is a settings FC on startup. What are the improvements with 5.1? Better battery life I hope... I'll report any bugs that I find

That fc is the same with 5.0.2 if you try to go through next button quickly

On note 2 t0lte someone said that data was working for them but didnt show the connections aka lte, 3g etc

LTE works perfectly for me, the problem is only with 3G

yes u can obviously use this as a daily driver
and about the network issue i m not facing any such issue
for some users 3g and network working fine for them while some have issues{dont know why}
so u can try and see if its working on ur side or not .......good luck:good:

I flashed it on philz and it went into bootloop. I tried flashing my stock but now windows is giving error that device has malfuntioned. Cant flash nor use. Pls help asap

Yeah I use Vodafone 3g on second sim and it works flawlessly

Well long story...to summarize...
1. While performing Full format using SP tool i lost my IMEI, so have to use engineering mode to push them using AT command everytime i flash a new ROM.
2. Also currently facing some issues with USB on my phone, it only does charging and doesn't show up on PC so can flash IMEI permanently as well
Would be great if i could have Engineer Mode apk and any other associated files so that I could use Lolipop on the phone, currently on Color OS and pretty happy with it just that its Kitkat.

Use chamlephoen app(can't say the name is correct :v) to fix imei as a alternative.
R u sure USB port is problem,i.e. it is fully hardware related problem?
I suggest you get the usb fixed ASAP,cuz as u try roms to roms any wrong flashing can make ur device hard brick too,to simply fix that u need to use usb anyway.

Netwok drops occour for 1min there is singnal next moment all black out also the animations are not that smooth
