Sense 7 apps on Lollipop Sense 6 - HTC One E8

Sense 7 has been out for some months already and one of its best features is theming capability. The Themes app is available on devices running Sense 6 on Lollipop, but most stock apps still follows the old theme system, which only has 4 themes.
Luckily, some of the Sense 7 apps can be installed on Sense 6 without root. Here are the ones I've tested on my M8Sx (single-SIM, WWE Asia). Some of these apps are available on APKMirror and the rest are extracted from Sense 7 ROMs or system dumps of the M8, M9, or A9. They can be uninstalled cleanly - if you can't uninstall them from Settings, try dragging them from the app drawer to the trash icon, or using an application manager.
Camera 7.30.581119 (23 Jul): Not much has changed apart from a few visual tweaks. The app seems to take photos a bit faster.
Contacts 7.0.502006: This also includes the dialler with white buttons.
HTC Mail 9.0.550299
FM Radio 7.0.549341 (26 Jun): Fixed problem with application header.
Calendar 7.01.591006 (6 Aug)
Tasks 7.1.658473 (17 Nov)
Sound Recorder 7.0.549341 (26 Jun): (Note: By default, recordings are stored in the phone's internal storage - if you've set it to Memory card before, you'll have to set it back again in the app.)
Clock Widget 7.50.628268 (21 Nov): Two new clock widgets are available - a THEMABLE transparent one and a solid one. This version is taken from the new A9's system dump.
Other widgets: Auto Rotate, Background Data, Bluetooth, Calendar, Contacts, Data Roaming, Data Controls, GPS, Hotspot, Mobile Network, Music, Power Controls, Profiles, Ringtones, Screen Brightness, Screen Timeout, Sync, Wi-Fi. I haven't got the time to test all of them, so please report if they don't work. Most of the widgets look the same - the only difference is that they now follow the new theme's colour scheme.
Two small apps: Archive Viewer 7.0.623146 and Make more space 4.0.552526 if you want even more consistency.
Personalise 7.1.631213: This app lets you download and apply fonts from the theme system of Sense 7. Tap "Font style" and then the plus icon to download fonts, but don't tap "Apply" - the app will tell you something is missing and try to download the font again. Instead, go back to the font list and select your font. Note: You won't be able to choose Sense 6 themes. Uninstall this version to get the old themes back.
Here are some images of the new apps: http://imgur.com/a/ZaI5u#0
In case you haven't noticed, some of the apps have square dots on the menu button and some have round dots. The ones with round dots are taken from MaximusHD ROM, based on Android 5.1. Perhaps on 5.1, Sense 7 will go with round dots like stock Android.

If i install these apps can i get the original app update released by HTC in play store?

Most of these apps I've listed here are either not on the Play Store (such as Contacts, widgets, Mail, Calendar) or their latest versions are not compatible with the E8 (Camera, Tasks) so there is no need to check for updates.
To uninstall them, drag them from your app drawer to the uninstall icon on your home screen.
By the way, you should uninstall the Sense 7 Clock app (not the widget!). It's available on the Play Store and is compatible with the E8.

Thx for the apps. Would be great if You could extract and upload an sms app

I had a question regarding the themeable clock widget, is it totally themeable? Like even on the homescreen we'll be able to get different clock styles from the themes right? Did you check whether it's working properly or not?
Also, do the dialer and contacts app work properly? Without any crashes and bugs?
Thanks a lot btw.

The transparent clock is totally themeable, but the solid clock isn't and always looks like the default one on Sense 7. Take a look at the album I've posted and see for yourself.
I haven't got any problems with the contacts and dialler app, but my phone is single-SIM and I extracted that app from a single-SIM ROM so it may not work on dual-SIM phones. Luckily, it's easy to uninstall the app in case anything goes wrong. If the app doesn't work for you, try using the apk from BinDroid.

Have you tried the latest camera app update which came out 3-4 days back? Does it work with the E8 too? Any clue where I can get that apk if it works?
I tried contacting HTC about why the camera isn't available for E8 via playstore. They said it was an issue with Google and will take some time to fix.

It's on APKMirror. I edited my post yesterday to include the update. APKMirror has a Pushbullet channel to check for app updates, so if you've got Pushbullet you can receive notifications for them.

I installed the programs below and all works very well

You can download the keyboard and language packs here: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/htc-corporation/. I've installed the keyboard but next-word prediction only seems to work for English, so I decided not to include it in this thread.

Why my htc Desire 826 can't install music(sense 7).apk?
It says the sign are not the same.
Can you rename the music's sign?

I think the OP is referring to the downloadable HTC widgets such as battery widget, etc. These will not install from the Market nor do they show up when clicking to download from the widget list to add to home. I too, would like to know a work around to install (not a different widget on the Market) because I really miss the HTC battery widget.

I think the widget isn't installing because it isn't an official ROM, but that is just a guess.
Could be part of the problem. However, it did install on the Eris based 2.1 roms which had very different frameworks than the Sprint based 2.1 roms. I believe that is the real problem. The Eris roms were more like the Sprint 1.5 roms framework wise.
Just wondering if anyone's found a fix for this? I miss my battery widget lol
still waiting for this myself. hopefully it will work with the release keys

[APP][SENSE 3.6/4/4A/4.5][2012/9/17 1.42]HTC Lockscreen Shortcut Provider

This is my second Android app. I develop this little app because I prefer 3rd party launcher (e.g. Apex) than existing Sense 4 Rosie. Existing hacked Sense 4 Rosie (full version) currently doesn't support non Sense widget correctly and is less feature-rich than many other launchers.
Even if you install a 3rd party launcher, Rosie still consume your precious memory as a system service. But if you freeze Rosie and thus release it from memory, you'll lose your lockscreen app shortcuts. After painstakingly reviewing the codes in HTC shortcut components, I found that Rosie actually act as a content provider to supply information of its launcher bar shortcuts to lockscreen. So without Rosie, lockscreen has no information to construct its shortcuts. Therefore I wrote this little app to replace the role of Rosie as the content provider. What's more, it allows you to select your own apps with a simple config screen and store the data separately. And it doesn't stay in the memory permanently.
Installation instructions:
Uninstall Rosie (Freezing doesn't work because Android doesn't allow two content providers of same type) ** You're reminded to make a backup first **
Install HTC Lockscreen Shortcut Provider
Run Lockscreen Shortcuts
Select your app for the 4 shortcuts
Hit back to save settings and notify HTC lockscreen
MD5: 30056AA5EF4716ADCD043B2751A3943B
** Currently this app has been tested to work with Sense 3.6, 4, 4A and 4.5 **
Change log
1.42
- Send broadcast notification to lockscreen on phone boot (should fix shortcut not showing issue after a reboot for TrickDroid)
1.41
- New option to hide app title
1.4
- Add support for Sense 4.5 (thanks Patrics83 for testing new version and support!). You MUST uninstall any previous version first.
1.3
- Add support for Sense 4A
1.2.1
- Fixed FC when loading installed apps
1.2

It doesn't work that way currently because this app replaces Rosie and cannot coexist with it.
But what you want to do can be done. You need to mod the idlescreen_Base.apk to use a different message to request for the shortcuts and change my app to listen to that message. This way, Rosie can coexist with this app and lockscreen will communicate with this app for the shortcuts.

You are my hero!
I needed this so badly wow you did exactly what I dreamed that some1 should create
Update:
Its not working.. :\
I thought it did at first but I guess it was still because of the last run of the HTC Rosie Sense.
After a restart the icons are gone and no matter if I go back to the app and rechange the list, the lockscreen is still empty.. :\
Can I help in any way to make it work? Perhaps sending some log files?

What ROM are you using?
Did you see a toast (popup message) "Notified HTC lockscreen" after saving the shortcuts settings?
If possible a logcat would help
I'm quite confident that it works for DHD since it's so similar to IncS if you're using a supported ROM.
I will give this a try. I hope it works because I am using Blackout ROM (Sense 3.6). It is just what I was looking for! Rosie looks nice but takes too much memory and is very feature limited so I want a third party launcher but still want to try and use a Sense based rom.
Thanks man and hope it works .

I know about the issue in Sense 3.6 and I'll try to find a solution. As for aLogcat, after it's running, you need to go to the lockscreen and unlock it. Go back to aLogcat and save the log file and send it to me. If the lockscreen generate any error, I'll be able to see it.

It doesn't allow you to change the icon. Currently the lockscreen retrieves the icon from the app itself.
Is there any chance we could get a Sense 3.6 version please? I'm trying it on ICE DS and though the shortcuts appear, dragging them just unlocks the phone - no app opens.

Attached is the Rosie .apk from ICE DS, I know it'd be appreciated if you could make it work!
SOLVED
Now this might not be related to this application, but, after setting this application up and being massively happy with it (read my various posts above) then renaming Rosie.apk and then upgrading to the latest beta version of Apex. I rebooted and then unfortunately Apex half loaded, but no lock screen so couldn't get into phone, could only drop the notifications bar. I Had to restore back to last safe nandroid backup (pre this app and Apex to get our of it?) Just me? Anyone else?
EDIT:
I did exactly the same steps again and this time no issue, so put it down to a one off? Probably an issue with new latest Apex beta...

After a software update

After I downloaded a software update to my One S it has defaulted back to the HTC sense homescreen and dock, clock etc. I was using launcher pro and had my phone set up just how i like it but now I cannot open Launcher pro, anyone know how I can get it working again?
Are you T-Mobile UK branded? I got the T-Mobile UK OTA and it didn't loose any of my wallpaper, or Sense widget layout.
As for LauncherPro - uninstall it and install it again? There might be a restore from backup option in LauncherPro settings, if you previously backed up your layout and settings.
Edit: Just a question, out of curiosity. I received the OTA, but my camera interface didn't change to the Sense 4.1 style. Also, did you get the EA Games app, that was in the OTA description? I don't have that either - not sure if it's a good or bad thing. (well it is bloat I guess...)
Hi sorry for the slow reply been working and havent been on the forum.
I got the EA Games app, and cant uninstall it, well I probably could if I could be bothered but you cant uninstall from app manager.
The only way I could get Launcher pro working again was to download the Home switcher app from the market and until you mentioned it I hadnt noticed the camera interface had not changed and yes I am on T mobile

BlinkFeed and Service Apps Ported to Non-Sense Rom's

HTC have announced that they will release Blinkfeed and Service Apps to the Play Store for use on non-HTC phones.
http://www.androidheadlines.com/201...-and-service-pack-apps-in-the-play-store.html
Just a quick update....
No news about the official apps from HTC but devs have ported the M8 version of Blinkfeed that's already on the play store.
New thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735764
USE THIS THREAD FROM NOW ON, DOWNLOAD LINKS ARE IN THE OP
ALL CREDITS GO TO GAKUGAKU
REMEMBER TO THANK THE DEV'S AND TO MAKE A BACKUP FIRST
Requires Android 4.4+
Confirmed working on: CM11 / INFAMOUS IOAP / .... (Should work on any AOSP based rom)
(Old thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696399)

Clock: To get the clock to show at the top you must set Blinkfeed as the home page.
Weather: To get the weather to show in the Blinkfeed header you must go into phone settings/accounts and add HTC weather. There are settings for Celsius/Fahrenheit and update interval in the top right corner as well.
Not Working: Facebook Feed, Instagram Feed.
Version 12 has a 4 x 5 home screen grid size, it cuts off some of the icon label text. To solve this you need to download the xposed module 'app settings' and reduce the HTC Blinkfeed launcher font size to 92%.

HOW TO INSTALL - NEW
- Backup your ROM.
- Download Htc_BlinkFeed_vXX.zip

SIDE NOTE:
Just in case anyone didn't know, you can use this basically as a Blinkfeed app if you want to use Nova (probably will work with other launchers as well). Just follow the steps below:
- Flash the zip in the OP, this installs the Blinkfeed launcher.
- When you boot into system set Nova back to the default launcher (Always).
- In Nova, long press on any space on the screen. Select Shortcuts > Activities > HTC Blinkfeed > HTC Blinkfeed (Launcher)
- This creates a HTC Blinkfeed shortcut on your screen.
- Click on the HTC Blinkfeed shortcut, delete all pages apart from Blinkfeed, delete all the icons in the dock (Apart from the app drawer icon).
- Now when you press the HTC Blinkfeed shortcut from inside Nova it will take you directly to Blinkfeed.
- Pressing the home button will take you back to Nova.
Any .apk file yet? Would love to install it on my AOSP device

Not 100% sure how it's going to work yet, all will be revealed today I assume. It's a step in the right direction though in my opinion. The bad news is it might be only M8 onwards and require sense framework. Basically just splitting up the apps like Google did so they can release the updates quicker.
It's possible to obtain this on our One S?
I will see it in Play store?

No, from what I can gather its only for 4.4.2 HTC devices onwards. Therefore completely useless to us!

Maybe not, we'll have to wait and see.

Hej, I just found the supposedly .apk of Blinkfeed at APKleacher.
I am not sure if I'm allowed to provide a link, therefor I won't risk it, but would be interesting if someone could validate the authenticity of the file.
Edit: False alarm, the .apk is for Blinked Feed
Just a quick update....
There is still no official date for HTC to release the apps on the playstore, but they will require 4.4.2 to run when available.
Some developers are working on porting the new Blinkfeed and the rest of the HTC apps here.
They have successfully got most of the Blinkfeed functions to work, but are still working on Zoe/Gallery etc.
I have installed CM11 M5 Snapshot and flashed the Blinkfeed V8 file in recovery and it installs a HTC Sense launcher over CM11. The feeds all seem to work apart from Twitter/Facebook etc. It changes the app draw to the one in the attached picture below. The scrolling in Blinkfeed is not quite as smooth as we have with Maximus/Viper but its still pretty good. Anyway if you want to give it a try make a backup first then flash the Blinkfeed V8 zip found in this post, I'm not sure if it works with every AOSP based ROM, only tried with CM11.
Note: To get the clock to show at the top you must set Blinkfeed as the home page.
Edit: I tried the other apps in the OP but none of them work.

BlinkFeed works correctly apart from Google+ and Facebook. The other sense apps haven't been ported yet.
Works good in CM11 M5! Thanks!
Works good on cm 10.2

Ah.. That makes more sense, thanks for clarifying. Just for the record, I'm using it with the Infamous IOAP rom and it works fine. :good:
I've been looking into editing the launcher so we can use a 4 x 5 grid on the homescreen, the 4 x 4 grid seems too spaced out to me, but that's probably to be expected as its not designed for our device. Having trouble compiling at the moment, so something is wrong with my setup, if anyone else is able to do this it would be greatly appreciated.
SIDE NOTE:
Just in case anyone didn't know, you can use this basically as a Blinkfeed app if you want to use Nova (probably will work with other launchers as well). Just follow the steps below:

- Click on the HTC Blinkfeed shortcut, delete all pages apart from Blinkfeed, delete all the icons in the dock (Apart from the app drawer icon).
- Now when you press the HTC Blinkfeed shortcut from inside Nova it will take you directly to Blinkfeed.
- Pressing the home button will take you back to Nova.
I will copy this into the OP.
Updated to v12
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS HAVE CHANGED, PLEASE READ OP
- Change Blinkfeed colour from within launcher
- New 4 x 5 homescreen grid size available
All credits to gakugaku. He has opened a new thread for updates to the launcher, link in the OP.
I have not tested this version.
