Redirects and torrents - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Recently whenever I visit torrent sites in any browser, I get redirected to ads a lot before I can finally download the torrent. Then the torrent downloads for maybe five or ten seconds before it says failed. Have tried using utorrent and BitTorrent. Running the ruu dotatt posted. Any ideas?
Also I downloaded an album before this started, but the only way I can listen to it is through file browsers, it won't show up in any of my music players. Any help with that would be great too thanks!

[Q] Android App to download Videos (not just You Tube)!!

Can anyone please let me know if there is any app to download videos from any site (not just You Tube)?
I want to download videos (generally flash videos) from any website.
I searched on net and market but there are apps that download videos from You Tube but not from any other site.
i dont think thats possible on galaxy 3.. until full flash support is up..
Thanks for the reply rudolf895 but I think flash is only needed to play the videos not to download them. And also, if there are apps that download videos from You Tube, then I dont think there is any problem in coding an app that will support any website (not just You Tube)?
The app should be that: The User just need to enter the url from which you want to download the video and app should do the rest.
Please let me know your thoughs on this.

Use "Save Video plugin for Internet Explorer". It allows you convert videos during downloading. Just select Convert>Devices>Droid before download videos.
Every app I've tried that says that you just share the link with the app, and then it will download the video, fails to do so. When the link is shared, the app then reports that there is no video in the link. I'm at a loss. I don't wanna download on my laptop and trans over to droid device, that defeats the purpose of using the droid device. If i wanted to use the laptop all the time i wouldn't have got a tablet.
Use bytetornado, it's working!
I found this:
http://www.appszoom.com/android_applications/media_and_video/web-video-downloader_blftq.html
It's not free. But it does work about 50% of the time...
I'm sorry. I have to take back my last post. It turns out that web video downloader is no longer available on the play store. Meaning you'll have to get it elsewhere. And even then it still has a very low success rate. I'm currently trying to download and it keeps crashing. I'm disgusted. Why isn't there an android app similar to internet download manager for windows? Something that captures streaming video?
there are 2 that I have found

Not sure if you are still looking but there are 2 apps that I have found. One is dowloadr...not great and crashes a fair bit but could be the user not the program! the best one imo is video catcher....there is a free demo version with almost full capability or for a dollar you can upgrade and download many vids simultaniosly... basically with videocatcher if you can play it on your screen it can download it.... both in the store

firefox for android will do the work for you..
just add the flash video downloader add-on..
b
No app worked.
I used opera and adm download manager.
In opera, type about:cache and search for the right file by clicking on preview.
A dialogue box will allow you to open the link with adm.
Start the download with adm.
I had to search a bit for the video file because there are sometimes no extensions and you don't know which site is really hosting the video.
You may consider deleting previous caches in settings to avoid this problem.

Try TubeMate for YouTube videos.......It's against google policy to download videos and hence this app is no longer available on the market...

Dude if you really have the video URL you can download it in any browser. The content you're after is typically one of several components of a web page; the URL you have is either for the surrounding web page, or perhaps for the swf player (the active element that chromes your video stream and provides limited interactivity with the Flash server).
What you actually need is an app to parse the obfuscated video URL from the page source--and to perform authentication if the video is hosted on an RTMP server. In other words, a YouTube downloader extension is not as easily repurposed as you imagine.
For the (GUI-dependent) majority, just using a downloader that can perform RTMP handshaking is non-trivial. That said, RTMPDump binaries have been compiled for Android--give it a try and let us know how it works out.

[Q] How do you download videos??

Not Youtube, but from a browser. On the Vibrant, when you chose a video from a website it gave you the option to stream it to your video player, or you could hit web and it would download it and store it on the SD card. With the G2X it only gives me the option to stream it to video player. I tried different browsers, the same thing happens with Dolphin, Opera comes closest but says cannot download unsupported file type. I know MP4 is a supported file type. Anyone found a solution for this?
I'm very interested myself.
Been trying to find the answer? U^
Yeah, no luck. Tried different browsers, looked all through settings it just doesn't work. Probably going to have to replace whatever apk controls it. Maybe the browser.

This sucks but no phone is perfect. Wondering... I might just switch phones with android all that matters is how the phone looks. Roms come and go...
Opera mini on 3g would give me the option to download but then says I don't heave enough memory.
Well you can download videos from the Youtube site just follow this guide ---> http://www.knowyourcell.com/lg/lg-g...ad_and_save_youtube_videos_on_the_lg_g2x.html
Or on Firefox mobile you can download the Video DownloadHelper add-on to download videos from any site.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
No idea how to find that addon
video download helper is for the pc right? How does that help with the phone?
EDIT: So with firefox when you click on a flashplayer video it downloads it. Guess it's a start. Kind of sucks having to watch it on flashplayer on regular browser then go to firefox to download it but at least you can download.

Hi,
I do not see the interest to download music via his telephone (to listen to it, yes), but do not lose sight of the fact that the download is prohibited and that from a point of view strictly legal the localization of the contravener is much easier than on a computer.
If you want absolutely to download music, register on a site of private torrent and download the music via your computer.
It is only my opinion, but you asked it to us.

[Mirror][app] TinyShark 3.1.5 (Groveshark client)

Update: I hadn't realized the original developer still has this on their website. I searched Google before but didn't find any place to download, that's why I posted the mirror. But later on I stumbled upon it. The developer's site is http://exigocs.com you can also download TinyShark Downloader from there.
It's no longer available on Play Store, but I downloaded it shortly after I got Android. I then discovered soon after it was removed from Play Store, so it has since lived on my sdcard with TitaniumBackup, since I did a lot of ROM flashing.
Despite not being updated for over a year, it works great on Jelly Bean , and is still is one of the best Grooveshark apps for android I've ever tried, with playlists, offline cache option, and more.
With offline cache, you can effectively use this as a mobile Grooveshark downloader. It dumps the songs into sdcard/tinyshark_songs/ where they have id3 tags, but are just named a bunch of numbers. You could cache them 1 at a time, then go there and rename the file to whatever you want, or you could just copy to your PC and use software to use id3 to name the files.
Here is the original description:
Listen to Grooveshark on your Android device for FREE.
- Search the Grooveshark database
- Import Grooveshark playlists
- Play individual songs or an entire playlist
- Cache songs for offline playback
Does NOT require Adobe Flash to play music (Settings -> Use Flash Player). TinyShark now does not need Flash for music playback, but it is still an option for those that find it works better.
Starting with version 3.0 a lot has changed under the hood. A lot of fixes are being made so check for updates often. If you are having problems try reinstalling and create a new shortcut in your launcher. If you are still having issues please email details and send any crash reports you can.
Thanks to everyone that's been emailing!
To download songs try Tinyshark Downloader also available in the market.
Taken from:
http://www.bestappsmarket.com/p/app?appId=8894&title=tinyshark
It really works much better with "Use Flash Player" unchecked. [You have to do that to enable Offline Cache]
The app id is com.exigo.tiny

Not connecting
I am experiencing some problems during the last month with this amazing app. It doesn't connect, when i try to connect i can see the 'connecting...' with the yellow light, but in a few seconds becomes again 'Disconnected' with the red light. Is it just me or this app is not working now?
I am having the same issue as well.
Try using tinytunes app from play store.
It's from the same developer but not related to grooveshark
It's pretty good.
As I am a new user I am not able to paste the link.

If you guys are having issues with 3.1.5 you need to first uninstall 3.1.5 and then update to 3.1.7 found on their website http://exigocs.com/. If you still have problems download and install tiny shark downloader.

I would consider this app *warez* for the fact it is used to steal music off a site that is know for being borderline legal anyways. There is a reason Google removed it from Play.
Just sayin.
Also, buy the music you like. Support your artists

Sadly, by buying music you're supporting the music industry (RIAA). By going to concerts you're supporting the artists.

Not the artists I listen to. I buy direct from them or their independent label.
If your music is controlled by the RIAA then you need to stop listening to USA Top 40 and go out and find real music.
Either way is better then supporting this app.
But back to why I brought this up, if XDA allows this app then why not all the other MP3 downloaders in the play Store?
Mod maybe answer?

How to setup squid Proxy for tinyshark for streaming?
Somehow my T-Mobile connection seems to be blocking the tinyshark connection. Whenever I use the T-Mo data connection, my tinyshark would immediately show disconnected.
I managed to setup a squid server so that it now shows "connected" ( squid log says TCP_HIT/200 1495 GET http://grooveshark.com/crossdomain.xml - NONE/- text/xml )
But the songs are not streaming...
Anyone has experience setting up squid for tinyshark that could share some insight?
Thanks!

Anyone knows how to pull a direct file link from a download URL using only Android de

Hello everyone,
So Im trying to stream online videos to a PlayStation using Android (Im away and dont have access to any computer). The PS has to be fed a direct link (link that ends with filename(dot)extention as in http;\\location.com\video.mp4). What I have are download/play URLs, ends with random letters and has to be fed to a download manager or video stream player in order to download/play.
Anyone has any idea on how to pull the direct link out of these links? I can do this using IDM on a computer but all i have here is my android devices.
Thanks in advance
