[Completed] Recent Tasks (Recent Apps) window scroll vertical instead of horizontal - XDA Assist

I have a new ZTE Nubia V5 Max with Android 4.4.4. I (finally) got GApps up and running on it and everything is set up great except for the Recent Apps (now called Recent Tasks) when you press and hold the center button. For some reason somebody decided to allow the different apps to scroll horizontally rather than vertically (copied WebOS). To me it just makes more sense to allow tasks to scroll vertically because I can immediately see three on my screen and choose to select or eject any of the three which are presently on my screen. Horizontal scrolling fails in both accounts.
Is there a setting to restore scrolling of the Recent Apps vertically instead of horizontally? Is there a hack? Thanks.

RootBox 2.2 for SGS2 issues

Hi
Flashed the RootBox v2.2 ROM (a combo of AOKP, CM10 + tweaks) a while ago, and some support is missing.
Couldn't find answers in the dedicated developer's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1806401
Nor here.
1. Long press on home screen doesn't bring up the shortcuts/widgets menu, so cannot create shortcuts fast.
2. Cannot record a call (no mic button on the dialer).
3. No voice recording built-in ICS/JB app - had to search the Play and download one.
4. Cannot increase the amount of home screens - have only 5.
5. Cannot minimize the home screens in order to see them all and select one. Used to do that using a pinch gesture.
6. Cannot go straight from the first home screen backwards to the last (i.e. recursive support).
Happy for any tips, :good:
Cheers, Gaby

It depends what launcher did you choose. If you choose Apex you can do number 4 and 5 for sure. In apex go on apex settings, homescreen and then manage screens and you can add and remove how many screens you want and choose which to set as default.
When it comes to gestures such as pinch to preview you can enable it in gestures but I do not know whether you need the pro version.
Regarding question 6 I do not know what you mean.
Apex has question 1 as well.
If I am not mistaken AOKP does not support call recording.
Hope it helped you

Thanks!
Indeed I've installed the default launcher. I'll install the Apex as you suggested.
Re Q #6, I meant I couldn't scroll backwards from the first home page straight to the last.
Thanks the the quick replay! :good: Gaby

You can do that in Apex as well. If you are running on Jelly Bean I suggest that you use the Beta Version of Apex which is found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1452663
If you are using ICS you can use the normal one found on their website. To enable gestures I think you need to pay for the pro version.
To enable the feature to move from the last screen to the first screen you have to go into Apex settings, Home Screens, Modify home screens and set the default screen as the first one (by putting a star on it). Then go in behaviour settings (from apex settings) and select home screen action --->>> go to default screen. In the behaviour settings you can enable pinch to zoom etc.
If you wish to install software as a system application you can either:
1) use titanium backup to push it to the systems folder
2) Install root explorer, copy the apex.apk and paste it into the system folder. Restart the mobile and then you will have it as system application.
If you need more help do not hesitate to ask, I'll do my best to help you.

[Completed] Why some functions don't work

I like the new Rom, however there are lot of missing functions.
first the setting button does not work and it displays the current apps, also the side bare is missing the tab.
The notification panel is missing some buttons and the air command is not working with the pen
Hi,
You would need to be specific about your device make and model and the exact Rom you're talking about. Asking for help in the rom threads is always the best solution.
Good luck!
Why some functions do not work
My phone is samsung GT-N 7100 and I'm referring to DN 4 update 3, which is not available on electron-team.com website anymore.
the settings button does not work and the side bar is missing the tab, the clock widget does not change the city when I wipe my finger, some buttons are not available in the notifications panel, the stylish pen does not work with the air command
It would be best to ask for help in the rom thread here,
> Samsung Galaxy Note II GT-N7100, N7105 > Galaxy Note II Android Development > [4.4.4] DN4 (Ditto Note 4) ROM from E-team (Electron Team) - Updated 30/10/2014

[Completed] [Q] TouchWiz mimicking, halo, etc... how far can it go...?

Hello...
I am trying to customize my (new) sony xpereia z2, (got it for waterproof), to as close as possible to a Galaxy note or tab, as far as it can go feature wise.
I already have a few floating apps:
-floating stickies-becomes complicated with too many stickies, swiping them to the side, it becomes (almost) impossible to find the one you want, needs a single view interface, for organized viewing/editing , as well along with the float feature.
-floating browser, and cobra - crashes with only 2 tabs, doesn't remember my websites.
-G-player - my floating window will not resize, pretty sure have gone through all the options in settings, it is stuck,
I am aware of xhalofloatingwindow and xmultiwindow.
- is the only difference between the two that halo floats and multi divides the screen in fixed way? or are there other differences in the two that I am missing...
- (also when people refer to 'halo', this is the same thing as 'xhalofloatingwindow', right? or is it different...)
- are these considered 'custom roms', or not bc only partial change..
- also TouchWiz... I have read that TouchWiz mimicking apps exist, and to look here, but I haven't found any names, thus far.
the features I want are: quick screenshot, and editing, and note taking next to the screenshot, in a logged/organized manner. I would buy a stylus too, if found if could find apps or roms that mimick the galaxy note.
I do like xperia's interface, lockscreen, homescreen editor set up, and buttons. It is not so much the interface that I am trying to change, but to get a few more features. but I would change the interface if that's the only way to do it.
another subject - copying images from web browser, (not saving them), this is impossible on android but have read with a custom rom (not sure which ones, all or only some?) it is possible.
also closing tabs in chrome. you have to close each one manually, obviously annoying, plus the fact that they all reopen if you just wait the program. which Roms (all or only some) can help this...?
please advise if you can ...
Thank you for any advice ....
Hi,
The best place to ask about these things would be this dedicated help thread in your device section,

Good luck!

Horizontal scrolling fails in both accounts.
Is there a setting to restore scrolling of the Recent Apps vertically instead of horizontally? Is there a hack? Thanks.

[APP][4.0+] OneTouch Launcher for Android (Android App)

To Whom It May Concerns !
I would like to introduce OneTouch Launcher for Android, a cool tool for Android devices (running Android 4.0 - API 15 and up)
How many moves/gestures do you often make to adjust volumes or start an app ? With OneTouch Launcher you will need just one touch to complete anything (well, almost, you will see)!
OVERVIEW
- You can organize apps into group tabs and launch any of them easily from a launch panel that appears upon touching the start handle.
- One-touch mode is even more convenient than usual : keep your finger touched and swipe to the desired function on the panel, when releasing the finger the desired app will launch (or the desired action will be performed).
- The start handle can be placed anywhere on screen that you want. If it is located near an edge it will be docked along that edge as a thin bar for easily swiping out.
- OneTouch Launcher for Android handles 4 kinds of content: application shortcuts, file shortcuts, link shortcuts, and a control center command actions.
MAIN FUNCTION
- OneTouch Launcher for Android works like a Start Menu popup from a Home Button, with app groups being shown in customizable tabs.
- Besides categorizing applications for easy access, you may also create shortcuts to any file or folder on your device and put them onto start menu panel for easy starting/opening.
- You may also create url links and put onto Start Panel for quick access: web url, sms composing urls with ready-filled recipients, phone call url to any phone number, mail composing url with ready-filled recipients. With this link function, all your frequent actions are just one touched away.
- System command actions are also made for you convenient use: turn off screen, screen orientation setting, switch flash-light on and off, launch calculator app, launch calendar app, open system setting panel, start google assistant (Android L), pull down notification bar, take a screen shot (Android M), launch camera app, adjust media volume, adjust ring volume, go back, go home, open recent applications screen.
- Hidden feature: Keep you finger touched over a volume command button of OneTouch launcher panel a bit, you will be able to adjust that volume by swiping left and right. Moveover, pushing your finger toward the top of your screen, this adjustment will be faster. With this feature, volume adjustment are done in just one move !
- This "long touch for more" feature also works on app shortcuts and screen orientation lock button
PERMISSIONS
For functional purposes of OneTouch Launcher for Android, following permission may be requested at appropriate circumstance:
- Appear on top: OneTouch Launcher for Android must be granted with this permission to show the start handle and the panel - this is essential for it to work.
- Storage access: in case you want to post your screen shots onto Gallery, you should allow this. This also enhances file shortcut creation function because you can then access more places on your storage when creating file shortcuts.
- Do not disturb mode: in case you want to adjust ring volume to low level
- Accessibility service: this should be turned on for following things: pull down notification bar, navigating back (for use with a browser), open recent apps screen.
- Device Administrator: in case you want to lock the screen with admin lock function. Note that this permission will have to turn off before force stop or uninstall OneTouch Launcher for Android.
- Make phone calls: this is used when you want to make a phone call from link.
- Access phone book: in case you want to add people from phone book into call-phone-link or sms-composing-link.
- Camera : this is to activate flash light in old android version device
- Start at boot time: this is to auto-start on boot
