I've modded the policy of Nfc.apk, so that the Nfc service is active even when screen is locked. Now you don't have to unlock anymore if you press the phone against a tag.
Screen must be "on" for sure, as Nfc is never active when phone is in standby - it would never enter deep sleep then.
Flash in CWM, odexed or deodexed Jelly Bean, enjoy!
If you encounter problems, I attached the original Nfc.apk too, so you can roll back whenever you want.
Update: added a fixed version, some had problems with the other. It works on odexed and deodexed systems.

Hai shaftenberg, Sorry to ask you here, how should i create a cmw zip to enable init.d for my Omar 1.8 kernel in my stock JB GB rom ?
Thank in advance.
Wrong thread?
Maybe you want to ask Omar himself.

Nice.
I use NFC every day, and unlocking the screen does not bother me, but I remember thinking at the beginning it would be more useful if I did not have to unlock first. I am going to try it.
It did not work for me. The NFC option disappeared altogether
The stock NFC zip restored it without any problem.

Do you mean the "option" in "Settings"?
I see no reason for that in my mod, as I changed 2 variables in smali only. Strange... Might it be that it depends on your ROM?
I am on Stock 4.1.2 and I know from others that it worked for them very well.

I will try again, and if it still does not work, I will redo the mod and compile it myself. It could be something to do with the framework.

Seems only to be working on deodexed ROMs.

Tried with Omars ROM: works like a charm.
Tried on modified Stock-ROM: NFC option dissapears. :crying:

Which ROM?? What exactly does not work? Can't believe this...
I've changed two files:
-> smali/com/android/nfc/NfcService.smali
after line 2470 add: const/4 v0, 0x0
-> smali/com/android/nfc/NfcService$2.smali
after line 164 add: const/4 v10, 0x0
That's it...

Yes, absolutely. Odex or Deodex, both work.
Maybe it's a signing problem, I'll try something and will tell you in a few hours, please stay tuned.

If so, install the fixed one. If you did that already, please ask Omar, because Nfc.apk is stock out of the box, nothing changed but only two variables. On stock ROM it works flawlessly.

I have a rooted nexus 5 running CM11. I kept getting this message before and I didn't know why so I posted here and someone told me to wipe my data so I did. That fixed the problem for about 2 weeks but it's back again. It happens so frequently now its very frustrating. It happens when I open an app, update an app or uninstall an app. Not every time but most frequently when updating. Why is this happening?! Please help and thanks in advance!
Just reflash your ROM or flash a different ROM and your problem should be fixed

Do you use Xposed or any theme mods? Probably something like that causing it.
As spinninbsod said, just dirty flash your ROM again or clean flash a new one.

Cool, just make sure none of the mods are trying to do the same thing, like change battery icon etc.
If you're reflashing ROM it also might be worth taking a fresh back up before reactivating Xposed, just to save reflashing if something ***** up again

Due to an update of an Xposed module, I had badly corrupted my systemui. The phone was totally unusable, and I could only press the OK button notifying the stopped event at startup.
Lucky me, I still had not updated to 4.4.3. Via Skipsoft Android Toolkit I updated to the last Android release, and my systemui got fixed. I did not choose to perform a complete wipe, so I actually maintained my previous apps. In relation to root, I did not loose it, but I had to reinstall SuperSU to get the non-official apps working again.
I hope this helps somebody else in my same condition, with no need to do a system wipe!
thank you. this helped me today.
woke up with the error. assuming its gravitybox and xblast causing an issue. will remove xblast.

Xposed does not actually "touch" or change SystemUI in any way. Xposed puts a couple of "files" in system which allows intercepted commands to be changed, without changing the actual code.
When you updated the ROM via a toolkit (PLEASE don't use toolkits by the way) you would have overwritten these Xposed files.
The simplest fix is to just remove the Xposed files

Hi people, when i try to turn Wifi on, i press the button on fast options, but it don't turn on, and when i go to settings, wifi stays different from the other ON/OFF selectors. If i reboot the phone, it starts working, but a while after that it does the same.

Probably a setting in there to disable WiFi, but honestly you don't need Snapdragon Battery Guru. The OnePlus battery is amazing as it is, just stick to basic battery conservative tips such as eliminating wakelocks from occurring to ensure your phone deep sleeps.

Please try to turn off wifi optimization on built-in settings
(settings/ wifi/ advanced/wifi optimization => untick=off)
Been using it this way for the last 2.5 days with no wifi issue to date yet.
3days now no WiFi issue.
I don't have MAC address.. wifi hardware damage?
I have this rather annoying problem with my OPO: When I'm on WiFi and go out of range and get within range of another WiFi (eg leaving from home in the morning and getting on the train where there's also WiFi) my OPO will not connect.
I've tried switching WiFi off and back on, tried forgetting network and connecting again but the network just displays as "Saved". Only thing that works is a reboot. Funny thing is that it actually detects open WiFi's and displays the question mark in the notification bar.
I've read that themes can cause WiFi problems so I haven't changed that. I'm using the Apex launcher with no visual changes.
I've rooted my phone but left the bootloader locked.
Any advice?
I'm rooted with the TWRP custom recovery installed. I had the same thing happen to me. If you toggle airplane mode on/off, it will reconnect. But, as for a solution, my fix was to restore a previous TWRP backup of my phone. I also had heard that the problem could be coming from a theme. What themes have you used? I bought the Flux theme and have been using its style and fonts. I was running the stock CM11s when this happend just a few days after getting my OPO. I would try a factory reset first. If that does not work, there is a thread in the OPO forums about flashing a factory image and getting back to 100% stock.
I have switched to the CM11 nightlies as of a couple of days ago. I will probably refrain from messing around with the theme packs for now.

Yesterday I failed to flash MAHDI and ended up clearing everything from my phone. I had to follow this guide:

I really hate to hear that you are still having the wifi issue. One would think that if you flashed all partitions with a factory image that it would solve the problem. You might want to have a look at this thread. This guy was unsuccessful in fixing his efs and bluetooth problems until he flashed Color OS and then went back to CM. Booted into recovery.

Restore backup of CM11S.

I was having the same issue, but here's what I did and it seems to have resolved my issue.
1) Updated firmware on my ASUS AC68 router
2) Boot into recovery mode (volume down+power), wipe cache and media, then factory wipe
3) When setting up phone, did not apply CM theme on the options after logging into CM account.
It seems like WiFi might drop when you get to homescreen, just reboot phone and Wifi should reconnect. Make sure to go into your WiFi settings and remove any networks that was saved, and re-add.
Still not ideal (since it seems like themes might be killing WiFi for some users), so hopefully a new OTA update will solve this problem.
