Bought this case for $9 with a promo code. Decided to give it a shot, never heard of the brand Verus, but I always wanted an aluminum case for the S6, and for the price, heck, why not.
Turns out it the case is amazing!
First of all, the case looks fantastic, it's probably one of the nicest looking cases for the Galaxy S6 at the moment. The brushed texture of the case itself has great grip and makes this case look sleek and professional. I had a clear case before to show off the back design of the Galaxy S6, but the design of this case makes the S6 look so nice that I would actually prefer this cover rather than the naked S6 back. It's that nice!
This 2-piece set comes with an aluminum frame that covers the sides. This bumper is the best part about the case. It looks and feels exactly like the S6's bumper, and is of high quality. The volume rockers are even labeled with + and - so you know the difference. It just goes to show the quality and craftsmanship of this case. And I haven't experienced any signal loss or GPS issues while using this bumper, which is a relief!
Overall, I would highly recommend this case to anyone who wants an aluminum bumper. Verus isn't a well known brand, but after buying this case, they are just as competitive if not better than Spigen / Otterbox / Speck.
The only downside is installing the case onto your S6. It's going to be a real pain getting the aluminum bumper to perfectly be aligned with the cover. It's going to take some effort and you will struggle to get the aluminum bumper fitted exactly onto the case. I had to use hard force to push the aluminum bumper perfectly into the case, but once that's done, you'll never want to take it off. That's a small knock for what is a truly awesome case!

Are those some sort of bubbles on the back? Or droplets of water?
do not get this case if you like easily taking cases off everyday, this case bent the metal on my s6 when i was trying to remove it, its that difficult to remove
What about signal loss? I have the Spigen Neo Hybrid aluminum frame and there is signal loss, not sure why this would be any different.

Yeah, I imagine it would be really hard to take it off, since it was really hard putting it on.

Well, I've had it for a week and I haven't experienced any signal degradation. Will update if it does happen though. I've been able to connect with full bars to towers, no problem.

Actually its not hard to remove the case and also easy to install, i have a video. Just remove the bumper first, then the tpu. I have 5 cases but this is my favorite.

I have some issues with signal loss. But I never really had the best reception to begin with. But I believe that this case made it a little worse for me.
Love this case. There's a trick to taking it off but it does come off pretty easily once you have done it a couple of times.
What's the trick?

I press one corner down firmly at a time to uninstall then it pulls right off. When installing, I put the black inner-guard on then face the phone screen down. Then push each corner down about halfway and continue working my way around. It really only takes a couple of seconds

I press both and the aluminum naturally separates. So I can remove the aluminum first.
Got it. Thanks for the tip.
I got this case because of your review and I have zero regrets. Best case I've gotten so far for any of my phones. I love it!

each time I put the phone nakud on a table of some sort, I hear that terrible metal sound scratching the surface of the table...

It's aluminum - a pretty soft metal; there probably will be scratches after a time, its just inevitable. But the finish is pretty strong. I've had mine for about 2 weeks and only have one barely noticeable scratch and I'm pretty rough on phones. I'd recommend one eventually. Maybe get a skin if you don't want to add to the bulk.

I had the M7 for a year, and never put a screen protector or body case/skin on it. I used the Seidio Spring Clip Holster for it, and there is just one, barely perceptible, dent in the back. You have to hold it JUST right in low light to even see it. No scratches, and I've even dropped it on the sidewalk (which left a teeny-tiny nick in the beveled edge, again you have to bee looking really hard to see it.)
I have the Spring Clip Holster on order for my just received M8, I plan on running it caseless/skinless as well. I have the dark grey version, and I just can't bear to cover this pretty thing up.
Admittedly, I'm not hard on devices. Were I to take it out in rough conditions (say, camping/hunting/shooting/hiking), I'd probably use a leather belt clip case. As it is, I work in an office. My husband used the Seidio Surface case and holster on his M7, and I have the Seidio Dilex case on the way for his new M8.
If you're a pocket carrier, though, I'd think long and hard about what you tend to keep in the pocket with it. Keys, loose change, pocket knife - no-go. Skin it, or change the way you carry it.
edit: Ok, this thing looks pretty damn tough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fzr7ULAiEk and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhwvXTVQoPM
You tempt me to go caseless with the htc...
I noticed from videos that the gun metal version is more vaunrable the scratches and small cracks if the device hits the groud.. im guessing its due to the color of the handset...

Mine is gunmetal, and will be caseless carried in a holster. My husband's is silver, and will be cased in a holster. If I do end up scratching it, I'll probably get a skin for it, like this one: http://www.slickwraps.com/HTC-One-M8-Brushed-Onyx-p/sw-one8-onyx.htm
Like all materials, it will scratch if brushed against something harder than it is. Aluminium is not the strongest of metals and is more easily scratched. Mine has some small scratches on the edges where my car mount holds it. I've since added some felt to the mount to prevent any more marks. In the grand scheme of things they're nothing and I'm sure it will get more as I use it. I feel the phone looks worse with a case of some sort stuck on it than it would with a few superficial scratches. I did get a case for when I know I'll be using it in a more active environment but most of the time I go without a case.

Why did she quit using it?
I love my Slim Armor. It is slim and keeps the design aesthetics of the phone. My grip on the phone is better. A picture is below for those that haven't seen the cases. And they come in different colors that mirror the phone if you want.
I only went a few days without a case and dicked up my gun metal gray phone on two corners with a small drop onto concrete. My case arrived the next day. It still pisses me off.

I have a fairly large scratch on the rear aluminum on my HTC One M8. I believe it got scratched from my retractable badge lanyard clip as I attach it on to my left pocket where my phone resides. It probably rubbed against the clip, introducing the scratch :/
FWIW, This is my first aluminum unibody phone. All of my past phones (EVO, EVO-3D, SGS3, SGS4) never had a single scratch and never had any protection (cases or screenguards) and still look mint. All of them were plastic however.

I always dress my phone with good cases. Same as you, I don't want seeing my phone having scratches, dents and blemishes in the future.
case-mate barely there case is great for minimal, the aluminum was too slipery for myself.
This has a nice matte finish to it and add practically no bulk, won't do a whole lot in terms of protection against large drops/bumps, but for small scratches to the back and sides this is great.
I didn't want to put my M8 in a case, but that thing felt like a wet bar of soap in my hand. So I went with this case so I could still see that beautiful brushed aluminum.

Always use hard case. It'll prevent your phone from scratches and all. For sweaty hands. And in case it fell, you have an extra protection. That's why I keep my phone with case all the time.
I purchased one and periodically I'd take off the case to showcase the phone's build quality because my friends were curious and today I noticed after owning and using the case for about 2 weeks that it leaves scratches all around the metal band. So now the entire front metal band on my phone is completely scratched up because of this case. So please stay away from this case and save your money for something better.
Well since you started. Ill continue.
The fusion one i got is warped at the bottom where charge port goes.
It fits well everywhere else except there. Im not gona damage my charge port because i have to force a charger in there due to the case firment issues.
Its very slippery and either i have oily fingers or the back of the case has an oil leak like my car.
The one i wanted to check out was the fusion max protect? Something like that.
But the tech21 looks like will get my monies once its available to other vendors

I've been doing some more research and apparently it's not the case but more of small particles of debris rubbing on the soft aluminum finish. So it's not really more of the cases fault and more it happening eventually from any case. either way still disappointing because my entire front looks beat. Oh well i'll learn to live with it.
people dont know how to take the case off so they mess up the phone and blame the case...pretty sure u are takin the case off wrong...if you buy a rinke...and rake it off like a tpu case...its gonna scratch!!!! ...its hard plastic ..raking it off will make it hold even tighter!

Educate the public on how to remove a case then...
I also purchased this case and in 2 days it has scuffed up the sides as well.
As others have said, how do you take off a RingKe case without messing up your phone?
I personally went with Seidio and glad I did. Almost brought a ringke but I'm glad I didn't. Wouldn't have known how to properly remove it. I recommend the OP leave the tittle the way it is. Even if it is the OP using it wrong, word needs to get out that these type of cases need a special touch on them or they ruin the look of your device.

Glad I got my body glove satin case, I often take it out to show friends and not one scratch on white note 4
this is true mine has scraches whenever i remove the case and i dont remove it ofter
TPU is fine, stay away from the polycarbonate cases
Yikes, I'm sorry your phone got scratched up. I have the same case in SF Black and I remove it to switch batteries every night. So far, not a single scratch from it, maybe I'm lucky. I know it's weird, , but maybe it's the way you remove it? I usually turn my phone upside down and use my nail to expand the corner outward, before moving to the top (now bottom) part of the case to do the same.
As others have mentioned, be wary of dust and other particles that may get between the case and the bezels. I always give a quick blow into the case and a wipe with microfiber before placing my (also wiped down) phone back into it.
It sucks that it scratched your phone, but I can't say I've had the same experience, this is my favorite and go-to case for my Note 4.

I got the clear Ringke and have been using it over the weekend and it seemed ok. I haven't taken it on and off alot though. I wonder how the tpu is scratching it? I also saw a review of the same thing for the spigen clear case so I ordered one to see what was up. Do you have the white or black note 4? Could we see some pics please?
I also have the iBlason clear off amazon and it seems to be ok.

Also, after examining the edge of the ringke and the iBlason, the edge seems very sharp and I think this is what is causing the scratches. I am going to try and chamfer the sharp edge and see what happens. I think some emery cloth and a little patience will go a long way.
Hi
Is someone so kind to explain the differences between case materials? Tpu, silicon, policarbon, gel, ...?
Is tpu the same as silicon?
Buying from the Internet is a mess, without touching and trying it before.

I don't think it's the cases, I think its the environment. Dusty or sandy environments I believe contribute to the scratching. Particles get between the case and the phone etc. Thats why people have such different experiences with the same cases. Ultimately I hope Samsung comes up with a better exterior design that avoids the soft exposed metal trim. I personally would have preferred the black paint all the way around as it has been far more durable for me. My wife will be going with the S6 when it comes out but only if they do away with the current metal trim thats on the Note 4.
I keep seeing people posting "bumper" cases, but it seems that they don't understand what a bumper Case is our the company they bought from doesn't.... rusher way I'm looking for an actual aluminum bumper for my s6. Bumper meaning no back what so ever. Only edge protection. Please post any and all bumpers you find aluminium or otherwise and I will start a list here in the OP.
Ps. I have the versus iron shield bumper and while it is very nice I would highly recommend it, it's bumper bit large for my taste. Looking for something slimmer.

The only other place i can think of is casefanatic.com,
bumpers category: http://www.casefanatic.com/samsung/galaxy-s6/bumper-galaxy-s6/
but they ship most of em from china so unless you choose fast shipping then it'll take a couple weeks to get to you. But they have a large selection of cases for the s6 including about 3-5 bumper cases.
I have a Verus Aluminum bumper. Spigen has an identical one, but with black rubber instead of clear. And there are plenty more out there.
I am, however, now looking for an all plastic/rubber case that isn't ugly as the aluminum completely kills signal. I lose about 40 dBm of signal (full 5 bars to 1bar/no signal) as soon as I put the aluminum bumper on.
My phone with Verus aluminum bumper:
Edit: Sorry, I missed your "P.S.", I read the top part and thought the rest was part of your sig. That said, anything "smaller/thinner" than something like the Verus won't protect the camera on the back. I'd personally rather have another mm of thickness and not be laying the phone down on the camera.
Any aluminum bumper will degrade signal and wifi,it happens on the spigens, obliqs, or just about any metal band. I had the spigen and noticed it.

Yeah I like the Verus and it's a great case. It's just so think... I love how they damn near perfectly mimicked the edges of the s6. I haven't had any issues with signal degradation though. Kind of odd that you are, the silicon buffer is supposed to make it so that doesn't happen. Very odd indeed.
Oh and I am going to edit the OP to ask for all bumper case suggestions so that those who aren't looking for an aluminum option have somewhere to look as well. :good:

I would've as well but it's not aluminium which for me personally is a must. Also I fear an aluminium version would suffer from the same size issue as the Verus.
If you both would post pics when you get them I'd like to compare it to the Verus for size. Obviously a picture isn't the best way to do it, but it's better than nothing.

i hate to admit it but you are absolutely right. I just got this bumber and love how sleek it is, i prefer it over my neo hydrid ex. But after seeing your comment and testing it out there's a huge difference in signal strength. With the metal bumber i get -113/114 dBm with 26 asu compared to the neo hybrid with -105dBm with 34 asu. i always thought it was just those cases with the metal backing that effected signal but just the bumper is enough to make a significant difference.

I had a really hard time putting it on the first time, and then trying to take it off the first time, I thought it was now a permanent fixture. I was really afraid I was going to break the phone from the pressure. Once I finally got it off, I couldn't get the Iron Shield case on. (The bumper is printed "Iron Shield", but it's actually "Iron Bumper" - they just use the same bumper piece for both.) I've now taken each off a couple times, and the rubber is getting more flexible now.
But yes, it will come off with some SERIOUS effort - just be careful. I have no helpful tips other than "keep trying".
I have both the verus aluminum and the spider plastic bumpers. I like the spigen one, but honestly I didn't feel like it was very protective. It just felt flimsy. The verus felt better in the had, but made the phone too wide, and also the headphones jack was super slim. I ended up taking a drill and widening it so my headphones will fit.

I don't understand why everyone says the verus is hard to take off. It's tight, but not difficult. I usually start at the top and push the bumper back while moving the phone and rubber part forward.

The first time I tried to take it off, it very much felt like the phone was going to break well before the case came off.
For those having issues, what finally became a good method for me was to use a thicker (terry cloth type) microfiber cloth to get a decent grip on the top/right corner, from the front pushing the corner off to the back, and just slowly, with steady/firm pressure, push the case back. Trying to quickly force it off did nothing, but a slow firm pressure did it. Then once that slid off, repeat at the top left corner, with will come more easily.
Another issue for me with the aluminum bumpers is that I dont want it to come free of the rubber and then scratch the glass (unlikely) or the phone's aluminum edge (far more likely).
I picked up a "Xuenair" branded silver aluminium bumper from eBay. It looks great, the buttons feel good, and the cutouts are perfect. Unfortunately though, it kills my GPS. Interesting enough, the cellular signal only degrades by 2-4 dbm at home.
I do use GPS quite often though.. so eBay refund process I go.

Does that bumper have anything to keep the camera off of a table surface when setting it down? (I assume you got the thin bare metal one that latches on.)

I do indeed have the thin metal one with a latch on the bottom right corner. To answer your question though, no, my camera unfortunately still remains in contact with the surface when it's laying down. I'm not too concerned about it since I have a tiny PET film lens protector, but it definitely could scratch the paint still.
Got it ! Very Elegant !

I have the roxfit one with the gold metallic back and it feels very premium. Alas I have yet to check the fitting as my phone is due in a couple days but its an officially licensed product so should fit perfectly. Got it from clove.co.uk

I think you'll have to await for Devil Case to come up with the goods for this. Going by my z3c experience it took over 6months from the phones availability for the case to become available (albeit not in its masses.)
DevilCase Sony Xperia Z3/Z3 Compact Aluminum Alloy Protective Bumper (Sony Z3 Compact, Black) by DevilCase http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00SUWYDSK/ref=cm_sw_r_other_udp_awd_3J4gwb9Z7EXYR
(Mind you its not rounded as such, edgy, but hands down most superior protection amongst all competitors in this category.)
For now, the Fusion Orzly @hispanico mentions above is the nicest for the limited choice you have currently. I tried this on my z3c.. Offers great protection and prevents the phone slipping drastically compared to the naked device. However I personnaly found it made the device a little too clunky for my liking. But its a great choice offering the best protection for now.
I'd like a TPU bumper, something to add some grip and protection without having to cover the rear of the phone.
If somebody knows about one, please tell me.

I just bought a bumper case off eBay (Sorry can't post links yet). Search for "Aluminum Metal Push-Pull Bumper Frame Hard Case Cover For Sony Xperia Z5 Compact". It's from Hong Kong so there's that. Haven't received it yet so I can't really say how good/bad the case is.

Is this one?

If so,
How is the grip compared to the phone naked? (Never has aluminium bumper before).
And what about the size? Is it slim?

Yes, that's the case. I'll try to update when I get the case. I should get it in the next couple of days.
Definitely agree. Like I mentioned in the other thread, the phone is too slippery. I like to use the phone one handed and have to balance my hand between gripping it tight enough so it doesnt slide (which is fairly tight) and keeping it loose enough that my thumb can reach the left top corner. ust over the past few days, I've noticed some strain on my hand from having to maintain the grip (not too tight, not too loose).
I have the Orzly Fusion. I wonder if I could take off the back plastic some how. It would be good to have some protrusion out the back to protect the back glass too. Ofcourse, this sounds great in my head, but I bet if I try to modify the case it will turn out ugly and ruined.

I have the same case and going to try to remove the plastic back when i get my balolo back skin. if it don't work ill just buy a new one will report back.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing. the issue I see is it will leave too much of a extra hanging over the back due to the thickness of the plastic. Unless you plan to just slice through the bumper to get the back off.

So today i recived the balolo back cover, unfortunately they messed up and made the cut outs for the z3 compact... But i cut of the top part of the cover and applied it anyway. Now to the orzly bumper, i did remove the plastic back and it does fit around the z5 pretty good. The only problem is that it's clearly not made to work just as a bumper cause it is a little bit loose around the edges, so i don't recommend removing the back but it does work
I guess they have a smaller lip in front to keep the phone from falling out the front but dont need one on the back since the backing holds the phone in.

There is a lip at the back as well so it stays on the phone, but the "frame" is a bit too big.

i have that case, it feels alright, but it makes using the fingerprint scanner hard as the bumper causes the scanner to be even more depress and harder for your fingerprint to fit and be scanned easily. the buttons are just attached to the tape/cushion on the bumper and it messes with my already bad reception
also does not have a lip to protect the front of the phone in the event of the phone landing face down
Hi,
I'm searching for a non-metal bumper, but I want it to be as thick as possible. My goal is to protect the camera glass, I do not want it to make contact with the surface I put it on. Is there such a bumper? Thanks!
will this work?

I'm afraid not. This one was my first choice, but one of the reviewers says that you can feel the camera glass hit the surface you put the phone on.
I know you said bumper and not case. but I got this Spigen Neo-Hybrid case for the same reason, and it's pretty small and does a nice job of keeping both the screen and the camera glass away from whatever surface you place the phone on.
https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Flexible-Protection-Reinforced-Samsung/dp/B00MAWRB44
I also vote for the spigen neo, I have the metal version but the plastic is the exact same, and I can confirm the camera does not touch the surface. It's the only case i've ever used for more than a couple months. i've had both the phone and case since new.
I'm using the Verus Iron Shield case with a Spigen metal stick on kickstand attached. The Verus case protects front screen nicely and the Spigen kickstand, when mounted in the center, makes it impossible for camera lens to make contact on a flat surface.

Verus Iron Shield will degrade your signal strength and the button setup is awful. -Spigen Neo Hybrid FTW.

Count me as lucky, I guess. I haven't encountered any signal loss, radio or gps, and my buttons are well placed and responsive. Maybe Scruffy has tiny, Faraday hands.
