I always am a Xposed GravityBox module user. Awesome work @C3C076 and @rovo89
Now after using Yureka and 1+1, I found that native kernel source and ROMs all available to these devices, are based on CM and that tampers the rule of GB module, if I have to use GB on these devices. Although CM has lot of features, GB is outstanding in many features and frequent feature and bug updates of GB are most desired one. Is there any AOSP Rom's available for these devices? If not, it is possible to make one out of existing CM world of ROM's?...

Hi all,
I've a question for you guys.
I've a SG3 (i9300), I'd like to know if using the cyanogen device tree for my device (located here) is possible to build AOSP source code.
if yes, then it looks like that would be possible to compile Lollipop AOSP for my device.. am I right ?
Thank you very much.
Cyanogen IS AOSP... Lol. Its AOSP with added features. If that's not an Android 5.0 lollipop kernel source, then it won't boot out of the box. Your best bet would be to get some Android 4.4 kernel source and do ramdisk edits and what not needed to get an Android 5.0 ROM booting. Alternatively, if your device is CM supported, I know they were talking about releasing CM12 soon, you could just hold out to see if your device is supported. Outside of CM, many custom ROMs (AOKP, Pacman, etc.) Take it upon themselves to release ROMs as well. Example: PACman had a 4.4 custom ROM out and in circulation, even before cyanogenmod, so u never know!

Hello, thanks for your answer.
I'd like to know this only for learning purpose, I'm not going to compile the AOSP
What I don't understand, is why adding the device tree to the lollipop AOSP is not sufficient to boot out of the box, can you please explain this in details ? Many thanks.
Dear MI 4i users,
We have got a lot of Nougat ROMs for our device recently and most of them are being actively developed.
You may have tried some of them, or may be wanting to try one now. But, with so many available ROMs, you'll be easily confused as to which is the best one yet for your daily use. So, here is little help for you to sort it out.
Note: If you have already tried the ROMs, please vote for your favourite one and help others to decide. You can also share your thoughts on the ROMs you've tried so far in this thread

[*]XOSP 7
Common features:
All ROMs are either LineageOS or AOSP based. So, at minimum, you can definitely see the feature set of LineageOS(or CyanogenMod formely) in all ROMs.
AOSP based ROMS like Slim7, AICP may additionally have their own custom features which are very useful and allow a high-degree of customisation.
Effectively, all the ROMs add their own flavour to the sweeetness of Nougat to make your device a pleasure in hand. :fingers-crossed:
Important : Go through respective ROM thread list of bugs and respective solutions, if any.
•=============================== A VERY USEFUL TIP ===============================• If you're flashing a new Nougat ROM on top of existing Nougat ROM, then there is no need to back-up everything everytime. Just wipe Cache and Dalvik/ART in TWRP and then flash the new ROM.
First boot will take 4~6 minutes irrespective of ROM and it's normal.
This works because all of the ROMs above have same base (7.1.1). I've personally tested this trick and it worked for CM14.1 <-> AICP12.1 <-> PixelROM.
It should work for other ROMs too. I'll let you know when I try or you can try and share the result.
A big advantage of this trick is that all the apps will be preserved and even the customisation you had done will be restored when you revert back to previous ROM. But note that this may break some Gapps because all ROMs don't support same package.
Finally, be warned: this method works only for switching between Nougat ROMs given above. Don't try this if you're on a different ROM.
that trick will works fine now
but when CM theme engine comes up
you can't dirty flash a CM theme engine rom with OMS rom :/

1. Of course. I'll warn when that happens. But, are you suggesting that LineageOS team is working on their own gene engine? Because, that would be great considering the simplicity of CMTE.
2. I have already added it to the list.

AospExtended ?
crDroid is good, AICP 12.1 also works great.
BTW you should add AospExtended to your list.

Best Custom ROMs for Android
LineageOS
LineageOS is a well-known name in the Custom ROM category. If you have ever used custom ROMs on any Android device, then you must have heard the name of the CyanogenMod. In 2016, the developer of CyanogenMod ROM stopped the development of CyanogenMod ROM, but later they released the CyanogenMod ROM with a new name named LineageOS. So LineageOS is not new to the custom ROM category. A LineageOS is one of the best and No.1 ROM because the ROM is available for the wide range of Smartphones. The Custom ROM is made by the most prominent developer’s team and supports the community.
LineageOS official android Pie update is released for many devices. If we talk about the feature of the ROM, LineageOS comes with little bit customization yes the customization is limited on the LineageOS. If you want a fully stable version of LineageOS, then install the official and Nightly build of the LOS ROM. However, the Android Pie Update of LineageOS ROM released for many devices but currently, most of them are Unofficial. So you may get minor bugs and issues in the ROM. Overall the performance of the stable update of LineageOS is mind-blowing. LineageOS supports 200+ devices, so I hope your device will be included in the list.
Pixel Experience ROM
ixel Experience is the new Rom in the custom ROM category, but this Pixel Experience has gained popularity in a very short time. PE ROM is based on AOSP ROM, with Google Gapps included. As the name suggests the ROM exactly looks like and work like the Google Pixel ROM. ROM comes with the latest Gapps, so Google Pixel launcher, wallpaper, ringtones, fonts, and boot animation are built in this ROM.
If we talk about the Pixel Experience ROM performance, the PE Rom works very smoothly on any android device. Personally, I tried the Pixel Experience ROM on my Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 5, Zenfone Max Pro M1, Redmi Note 5 Pro. Apart from that, you can get the full Google Pixel Experience in this ROM. If we talk about the customization the ROM support some basic customization like the Theme, always on display, Pixel blue accent color, etc. Like the LineageOS, PE ROM does not support the wide range of devices. However, if you are a Xiaomi device user, then it is likely that pixel ROMs are available for your device. Apart from that unofficial update is available for many Android devices but you may face some issues and bugs on the unofficial ROM.
CrDroid ROM
crDroid is designed to improve the customizability, performance, and reliability of the stock Android ROMIf you have ever used the Resurrection Remix ROM then you must know the RR Rome’s Customization option. Just like the Resurrection Remix ROM the crDroid also support the High level of customization. CrDroid Support the Status bar, Quick Settings, Lock Screen, Buttons, Navigation, Sound, Recent Screen Customization. Currently, the ROM support the 90+ devices and 30+ devices support the android Pie updates. With CrDroid, you not only get many customizations, but it also offers you real pixel experience. The android Pie update of the crDroid comes with the Google Gcam Camera app. , So if you want to tweaks with your Android device, then the crDroid ROM is for you.
Havoc-OS
The next rom in the list is Havoc-OS. ROM is becoming popular day by day and supports many Android devices. The stable version which running on android Pie released for many android devices. The Havoc OS also support the lots of customization like the CrDroid ROM. Apart from customization the Battery backup and the Network of the ROM is still better than the other android Pie based custom ROMs. I tried this ROM on my Zenfone Max Pro M1, and the ROM works very perfectly on it. The Performance of the ROM is outstanding. The customization is limitless in the Havoc OS ROM. You can select the Theme, Customize the Notification Panel, Animations, and so on. Overall the ROM is perfect in all terms if you want a feature pack rom then once try out the Havoc ROM on your android device.
AOSP Extended ROM
AOSP Extended ROM is an aosp based custom ROM which provides you the Stock UI along with some customization option. As the name suggests, the aosp source code directly builds the ROM. The ROM is little bit look like the Pixel Experience ROM because the customization is limited in this ROM. However, the ROM support the substratum Theme engine which completely changes the looks of your device. The Network connection and the battery backup of the ROM are good. AOSP ROM provides you a full lag free and smooth experience. The AOSP developers continue updates their OS and which is a plus point of this ROM. However, all the above ROMs are also regularly updated by the developers. The AOSP Rom also support the forum support. AOSP extended ROM currently supports almost the all smartphone manufacturer device.
Has there been any custom kernel which works on MIUI too? A lot of amazing kernels out there but they only run on Custom ROMS...
Turns out Xiaomi hasn't updated it's sources which is quite an obstacle for devs to get across..
It seems like all ROMs claim to be AOSP. For example Lineage, Crdoid, Havoc and Paranoid. Or at least the devs through the tags in the names. So which popular ones aren't?
AOSP ( read: Vanilla ROM ) simple means neither the copyrighted-by-Google services etc nor any of the copyrighted-by-Google GMS are contained in ROM. If devs claim their ROM is AOSP then that's NOT true, this because they modified AOSP, it became a Custom ROM.
All ROMs pre-installed by manufacturer on Android devices are NON-AOSP ROMs.
