[Q][D2303] How to root with unlocked bootloader? - Sony Xperia M2

Hi guys! Im on 4.4.4 with unlocked bootloader, the only way to root this device that i found on the internet is to use locked bootloader tutorials.
Is there any easy way to root unlocked bootloader D2303 on 4.4.4 18.3.1.C.1.15? I tried flashtool but when it installs towel root and i press make it rain! it says this device is not supported. Thanks in advance!

Here is one easiest way, but its over chinese app called KingRoot.
1. Download latest KingRoot.
2. Press Root button
3. Allow USB debug in Developer settings(Tap 10 times in Phone info on Build number to get Dev. settings)
4. Install Philz Recovery
5. Flash SuperSU V.249 BETA! Important!
6. Flash RICDefeat.zip
Same way is described here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/general/how-to-permanently-root-xperia-m2-t3106534
But dont forget to flash SuperSU V2.49 BETA and RICDefeat & remove KingRoot apps.

Update your bootloader using emma, then flash a recovery like CM12.1 Recovery from here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/lfub133wy5833bx/recovery.img and flash with it SuperSU zip and RICdefeat. Then you're done.

Actually that's a locked bootloader method.
And Kingroot also sends your IMEI info to chinese unknown servers...

Then there's no reason to happen that. The lines appear when you boot it normally or when you try to enter recovery by keep holding the Vol- button?

The phone is off. I press the power button it vibrates, then for 5-6 second the screen is black. Then the lines shows up and no boot. Vol- pressed or not is the same.
EDIT: Reflashed now only if i try to enter recovery the lines shows up!

Go in fastboot mode and run fastboot erase recovery .
Again, I see no reason why this could be happening as this recovery runs in it's partition, isolated, so if you don't run it (Vol- button from the beggining) then it should not interfere with device boot up. Try flashing the latest kernel from the .15 ftf also.

I reflashed the recovery trough fastboot and now only if i try to boot recovery the blue lines shows up. I think that is a problem of the recovery.

No, it shouldn't as the problem only was the GPIO Keys... Not screen driver problem... But yes, looks like you can't use the CM Recovery.
Format your fastboot partition with fastboot erase recovery and use the locked bootloader procedure... What a pity.

EDIT: Solved trying now for the locked bootloader method!

Installed philz recovery with locked bootloader method but i cant flash omnirom! (status 7)

Nexus 5 "No SU binary installed and SuperSU? cannot Install it

So I rooted my nexus 5 but when I check to see if it is rooted, I get this message. When I go to the bootloader and try to go to the recovery mode, I get the opened android with red sign saying "no command".
I read that I have to flash the latest SuperSU......any ideas how I am supposed to do that?

are you sure that you "rooted" it, or did you just unlock the bootloader? thgat open android with the red sign is the stock recovery btw. what you need to do is flash a custom recovery via fastboot, either twrp or cwm, then flash the latest supersu via your new custom recovery. thats all that you need to do.
latest supersu http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
Well I rooted it but due to some problems had to reset the whole thing. Before I reseted it, I had SuperSU installed and it said that the device was rooted.
I can't access the bootloader is the problem, when I go to recovery mode I go to the "stock recovery" with the android with the red sign saying no command. So am I suppose to place the zip file using android file transfer?

to access the bootloader, power off first. then power on holding the volume down button and the power button. that is the bootloader. thats what gives you the options to go into recovery, reboot bootloader, boot up, or power off. in order for you to be able to flash the latest supersu, you need to flash a custom recovery first.

Oh I know about the bootloader I did it before its just that I can't access the recover, when I go to it in the bootloader I go to the android with the red sign.

you need to flash it via fastboot while your phone is in the bootloader(there are instruction here). follow the "installing a custom recovery" part http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2507905

You must have flashed a custom recovery before to flash root.
If you're confused at this moment , its a good idea to put your phone down and get a cup of tea.
Then, read the how to unlock your bootloader / root thread stuck at the top of general.
Read through it. To have been rooted, you must have done all that stuff before. It has instructions for each step. But importantly, read don't do until you're familiar with it all

sometimes, just taking a step back, a breather, a time out, opens your eyes to things right in front of you that you dont see. plus gives you a chance to read up and make yourself better prepared.

We have to know all the setps you´ve done to get root.
1. download SuperSU.zip to your sdcard
2. Unlock bootloader - reboot afterwards done?
3. download a recovery.img, CWM or TWRP
4. Back to bootloader and flash recovery: fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
5. in bootloader boot now to recovery and select install/SuperSU.zip
6. Reboot and and you are ready to go
All-in-One-Thread here is a link which should help you to get started :good:
Pls report back if you get it sorted :highfive:

Sure, roottoolkit works, but you dont learn something with using toolkits. You dont know what they are doing.
There are easy fastboot commands
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
........
so nothing special, no toolkits needed

agree, I have just proposed him, if he is not sure what he was doing wrong, also, correct me if I am wrong, but maybe he didn't enable developer options (not sure if this is a must for other steps he needs to take)
Developer Options are only applicable when Android is booted, has no bearing on things when in fastboot. They also have no bearing on root.
If the OP doesn't know what they're doing then they should read up on everything and LEARN the adb/fastoot commands. It takes all of 10 minutes reading to know the basics and will hold you in good stead for future Android handsets

Can you get into the fastboot menu (hold volume down and then power) or into the recovery (from the fastboot menu)? Also, have you unlocked the bootloader and/or flashed a rom?

The MultiROM TWRP itself doesn't install multirom, I just know it works, while some other recovery images don't. You will be able to flash a different recovery once you fix your problem.
I forgot that a kernel can't be readily flashed via fastboot... You should try downloading a stock firmware package and flashing at least boot and system.

Note: after download, replace your latest TWRP .img to overwrite the recovery.img

Try another way here, for entering twrp.
After you flashed the recovery successfully. Do not type the command of "fastboot reboot".
On your phone, press and hold the POWER and UP VOLUME buttons together until you enter the TWRP recovery. (It will power off and boot up recovery)
Note: Do not let it boot to normal system startup. This this case, you need to reflash the recovery via fastboot and follow the steps above again.
After you have root the phone successfully, you can enter the TWRP recovery without flashing via fastboot already.
Hope above help you.

If the touches screen doesn't work, It might be the TWRP recovery issue. You can try flash other version to solve the problem.
Anyway, great to know everything works for you now.
I've this issue.
TWRP is installed but:
- if I boot via [power]+[vol+] I enter in old stock recovery
- if I boot via fastboot using command "fastboot boot recovery.img", TWRP is loaded correctly

Yes very first time after I flashed and entered the TWRP recovery successfully, I need to wait for few minutes and the touchscreen only start working.
Then I have flashed a few other versions of TWRP, I have forgotten which one I have flashed already, my TWRP recovery works immediately without any touchscreen issue.

In order to root there are various ways, I did it the way I am use to with supersu, just reboot in TWRP and flash the latest supersu zip from here.
http://www.supersu.com/download
If you don't want to flash twrp you can achieve systemless root with magisk, just search there are plenty of tutorials.
After that you would probably need to install buysybox, then you can use root explorer to remove any stock app that you don't like, you can flash a new bootanimation, I flashed the zenfone 4 one, possibilty are endless.
Have fun.

Just updated the phone myself without problem and kept root, this is how...
Download the full firmware update from this page https://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone-3-Max-ZC553KL/HelpDesk_Download/
Copy it to your device, make sure you also have a copy of supersu.zip and twrp.img.
Reboot in TWRP mode, press install and select the new firmware that you have copied on the device, once done, repeat install with supersu.zip, once done repated one more time install this time select the install image option and install twrp.img.
Reboot and you should be updated and rooted.
P.S. If you did not unlock bootloader and root before update, try the all process to unlock and root, following the guide at the biginning of this post.
Have fun...

I cant flash TWRP
Hey guys, I cant flash twrp from adb, is there anyway I can flash this recovery? I already unlocked the bootloader. I tried going to recovery as well with the Volume Down + Power Button but it only brings me to the default recovery

OK so this is what you do....
Place the twrp.img file in your adb folder,
reboot phone in bootloader mode,
press shift with right button on the mouse and open a command prompt inside adb folder,
type
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
type
Code:
fastboot reboot
and while you press volume down, press enter, if you have done everything right, phone should boot in TWRP.

No bootloader/fastboot

Hi,
I am trying to get Lineage installed on my Oppo R7 Plus although I've run in to a snag and have been googling and going round in circles all day trying to find a solution. All the guides state to go in to recovery mode or bootloader, however my device doesn't have this. I understand Oppo released an update which removed the bootloader thus making it impossible to flash with a different ROM. One work around I've read is to flash an older version of ColorOS, and I have downloaded this from a link in another thread. However this still poses the same problem, I cannot flash it, as you need fastboot to do so, which is the problem, as I cant do this.... catch 22 !
Does anyone have a solution for this or should I just give up and sell the unit on Ebay ?
Any help appreciated.
This is a link to a color os with an unlockable bootloader. Place it in the root of your internal SD. Boot into recovery and flash with color is recovery. After flashing you can boot into fastboot and run fastboot OEM unlock and flash twrp. Only for r7plusf.

Hi,
Thanks for the info but I can't boot in to recovery and flash, as the latest OS doesnt let me, which is the issue I am having, unless I've missed something?

Switch the phone off. Hold volume down and power until the oppo logo appears and it should boot into recovery.
I have used all the official firmware versions for this phone and they all allow booting into recovery.

I've tried this and it doesnt work, it never boots in to recovery. Ive also used ADB using adb reboot bootloader and other commands with no joy. From what I ascertained from reading other threads and posts elsewhere this is due to OPPO updating the OS and removing the option to do this. If you have their latest OS, you're pretty stuck., which I am Just wondered if there was any way around this before I gave up.
Edit: Just tried this one final time and it worked !! All the guides say hold volume up and power, not volume DOWN. Thanks very much for the input
Once you have flashed the older firmware you can hold volume up and power to get into fastboot to flash twrp
