[Q] XT1034 stuck at Warning Splash screen - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my brother's Moto G recently received the Lollipop OTA. He was rooted at it wouldn't install. So I decided to back it all up at restore it to stock LP for a fresh start.
I used the guide here:

And I extracted it and it all worked fine blah blah blah....
But now the phone won't boot. It's stuck at the Warning Bootloader Unlocked splash screen. I've tried just about everything i could find on here, such as installing a custom recovery and trying to flash a rom, but that failed.
I tried rolling back to 4.4.4, but it ended with the same result.
He's on T-Mobile, but we bought the unlocked US variant. It is indeed the XT1034, as i checked on the box, on the battery, and on the phone before i bricked it. This isn't my first rodeo i'm not new to this, but this is bugging me and my bro can't be without a phone for long. Any help is appreciated

I wasn't using mfastboot because the bootloader is unlocked. But I'll try with that and get back.
Edit: Thank you! Thank worked. I had initial trouble using mfastboot where it wasn't working but fastboot was, so I continued to use fastboot instead.

If your phone doesn't turn on after the battery dies, then keep the power button pressed till you see the battery icon. Always connect to a wall charger if the battery is dead after the phone is hard bricked.
Method :
To Enter Fastboot :
1) When your phone is turned off, press the power key and volume down button for around 5-10 seconds and let it go.
2) Connect your phone to your pc via usb.
3) Install the setup provided in the link and press "y" in the window.
To Flash Firmware :
3) Extract the zip which contains a batch file "unbrick.bat", 5.0.2 Firmware & Fastboot.
4) Run the batch file "unbrick.bat"
If your phone is still stuck in a bootloop, I would recommend you to first flash the CWM Recovery using fastboot.
Then, you can sideload a ROM (I used PAC-MAN) using ADB. Then just flash the ROM in CWM. If you need stock, then follow the above steps after successfully booting into PAC-MAN ROM. I have provided all the links above.
That's it, you are done!

Major problems with my XT1033
Hello, please help. I have tried to follow your instructions to unbrick my Moto G XT1033 but I just get the message in the Command Prompt that fastboot is not recognised.
I think my phone was accidently disconnected from the pc when I was trying to flash back to stock firmware from CM11. Since then the phone will not shut down & only shows 0% battery when connected to the mains. It only charges the battery when connected to the PC. I can get to the fastboot screen (please see attached images) & as can be seen the phone confirms usb is connected but the phone is not recognised by the PC. Please help. I have tried all other methods without any success.

I'm updating this thread with Lollipop 5.0.2 firmware and a batch file.

I have made changes to OP to include Lollipop Firmware and to make it easier. Hope it solves your issue.

Hi I'm tryin to follow this thread after the other unbrick and restore posts didn't help.
Moto G XT1033 booting to the android logo with a traingle on top of it. Recovery doesn't work and the adb window states waiting for device although I have tried many adb drivers along with moto drivers and mfast and rdlite among other things.
Win 10, Unlocked bootloaded with no recovery and no USB debugging enabled.
Any help would e highly appreciated

[HELP] Downgrading from CM4.4.4 to Stock4.4.3 bricked my moto XT1033

i kill my phone.. :/

i try reflash 4.4.3, 4.4.2, 4.3, and nothing change,

my custom bootlogo stay after flash stock (the stock "M" or "boounlock warning" dont apear!!??)
my bronked recovery stay after fash stock or TWRP / CWM philz, i try all versions
and on first boot i revice infinite FC
on next boot it stuck on infinity bootlogo (my custom boot logo)
can not enter on recovery, i try everyone
and every time it return a black screen
and i stay recive vibration feedback on touch.
i really disaponted because the bootlogo/recovery dont change..
fastboot dont write nothing on my phone!?
i try format some partition but not work..
i think my sd card or/and partitions was break, like 'bad disk'
it say "RAW" dont format

i recive milion FC on firstrun (but can see two sim icons on bar)

black recovery, with vibration on touch.

My Chinese phone has a problem like that (can't flash through adb and recovery gave errors) I formatted it using the flash tool I had for that phone and than flashed the ROM I needed I don't know why Motorola hasn't provided any flash tool with this phone. There must be a command through adb that can format all the partitions and than flash.someone on XDA also fixed that problem by flashing liquidsmooth ROM.
Don't worry bro it will surely get fixed !!

Get a list of the mount points of your phone and than just format system,boot,data and cache partition after using the command "fastboot OEM format". Than flash everything through fastboot again or flash a recovery than flash using that recovery.
Just try flashing a ROM through recovery because you can specify the mount points in the script.

Can you open recovery? are you able to flash recovery?
I restored my stock firmware without any problems on my moto g.
I had a cmw backup and there was no problem in restoring.
The problem you have specified occurs when you flash a rom or something in the wrong partition(other mount point)
You must have downloaded the wrong file i suppose but i am sure it can be fixed , you just need to contact someone who knows about this more

you would probably have to wait for some time untill someone figures out a fix, many people are having this problem so its very likely to get fixed . Stay tuned and dont worry

4.3 kernel is not compatible with latest Bootloader. If you update to 4.4.4 via OTA update or firmware image - you cannot boot 4.3 ever again.

Yes, but we can't flash anything.
For me, I have a 4.4.4 GPE, only access to Fastboot. Fastboot flash say OK to all commands but do nothing (no recovery, no new logo... nothing).
the tools for refresh or corrupt then bootloader doesn't work to...

Are you using fastboot or mfastboot? What commands have you used? Do the 'flash system system.img' commands actually match the filenames of the firmware you have downloaded?

[HOW TO] Unbrick hard bricked Moto G (for Android 4.4.4 (5.x now available))

If you hard bricked after the 4.4.4 (or 5.x) upgrade and your device looks dead and it's only recognized by pc as "qhsusb_bulk" this is the right place for you. This procedure has been tested with Win7 on Moto G XT1032 and should be fine for every model.
You will need:
Riff BOX JTAG drivers + Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider

Motorola qboot utility lollipop update [thanks to @ilikered]
Motorola USB drivers
Motorola Fastboot
An official Motorola Moto G firmware (4.4.4)
First of all you will need to extract Riff BOX drivers in a folder (you will find both 32bit and 64bit versions). Open dseo13b.exe and choose "Sign a System File", follow the program instructions and there you go, the program will ask you to reboot. While you reboot press F8 many times until you get a menu, choose "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement", now click on Windows Start button and write "devmgmt.msc" without quotes, you will get the Device Manager window. Go on "qhsusb_bulk" (if not shown unplug and plug again your Moto G or long press the power button) then choose "Update Driver Software", choose the manually way and put the path of your previously extracted and signed drivers. Your Moto G is now recognized as "Qualcomm HS-USB QLoader 9008" under Ports (COM & LPT). Now extract the Motorola qboot utility and run the blank-flash.bat, your Moto G should be able to enter in fastboot mode! Now your device shows "Status Code :0", to get the correct status just flash a gpt.bin and a motoboot.img from a random 4.4.4 (or 5.x) Moto G firmware. It's done, now you can flash the firmware you like more... as always!

Bootloader Bricker Tool: If the previous tool had no effect or you think your bootloader is seriously damaged, this script will make your phone recognized as "qhsusb_bulk" so you can perform a blank flash
The bricker should be used very carefully and only on Android 4.4.4 with 41.13 bootloader. DO NOT use it on higher versions.

Now you have to install a stock rom. My advice, if you have a XT1032, is to use this rom
Once you downloaded put the mfastboot in a folder, put the extracted firmware rom in the same folder then open notepad, copy-paste the following commands and save the file as ".bat". Then run the ".bat" and there you go!

Yeah, keep your battery in charge for at least 1 hour, shoud be shown battery low (charging).
When you get the green "battery ok" you can proceed.

Guys I forgot to tell you can easily downgrade once you flashed a 4.4.4 ROM. I installed the Brazilian retail then downgraded to 4.4.3, then 4.4.2. Once you downgraded to 4.4.2 you can switch to GPE or whatever you want

As far as I can tell, battery is not actually required. "qhsusb_bulk" still loads for me, even when the battery isn't hooked up. I only know because at first I thought a new battery might fix the problem and opened my Moto G and replaced it/tried it without. Just FYI.

Can you still use fastboot or your device is completely dead?

i can use fastboot, but none i have flash, work..
i cant acess recovery or flash a new recovery..
fastboot say ok, but nothing change on device..
my custom boot logo or a black recovery dont change never..
i try flash more that 50 diferent firmwares..

my custom bootlogo stay after flash stock (the stock "M" or "boounlock warning" dont apear!!??)
my bronked recovery stay after fash stock or TWRP / CWM philz, i try all versions
and on first boot i revice infinite FC
on next boot it stuck on infinity bootlogo (my custom boot logo)
can not enter on recovery, i try everyone
and every time it return a black screen
and i stay recive vibration feedback on touch.
i really disaponted because the bootlogo/recovery dont change..
fastboot dont write nothing on my phone!?
i try format some partition but not work..
i think my sd card or/and partitions was break, like 'bad disk'

Ok man, try to run the other 2 tools inside my package, first the hard bricker, post the result, then if doesn't work try the bootloader tool and post the result:good: Your device is ok, just the bootloader is corrupted but don't worry, we have resurrected devices in worst situations.

XT1033 "Soft" Brick - Stuck on "unlocked bootloader"

A friend of mine bricked his Moto G 2013 and, after many attempts on fixing it, I was unable to get it to work in any way.
The problem:
Classic boot loop: It gets stuck on "unlocked bootloader" screen on startup.
Why don't you just flash the stock rom directly from fastboot?
I did try to flash it many times, but it simply doesn't work.
No FAILED status is shown on fastboot flashing, but it simply doesn't install.
Why don't you flash a custom rom from a custom recovery?
Installing a custom recovery flashing also don't work even without showing any error on installation.
I was able to boot from twrp.img directly from fastboot, but it gives an error on any rom I try to flash from it.
Wiping from it did not help either.
The solution:

What os is you're computer running? (And what method did you use to install adb&fastboot)
Make sure you have recent adb and fastboot builds
If you are on Linux, you only need to make sure android-tools-adb and android-tools-fastboot are properly installed and updated (and that the udev rules allow to access the device)
If not I can't help you with the os specific part
I would retry to flash 41.1A bootloader first, and then try again to flash twrp 3.0.2 + CM13 + micro gapps

I'm on a windows 7 x64 machine.
Installed minimal adb&fastoot v1.1.3 via .exe installer... I don't really remember from where I have downloaded it, got it months ago, trying to unbrick my hard bricked moto G 2014.
Tried your method reflashing bootloader 41.1A found here:

It also returned no error upon installation, perhaps, no luck on installing twrp again.

This make me think you would need to flash a 5.1 gpt.bin (that you can find in an official zip for your XT1033 device), and then retry to update the bootloader
Though I should work, "sh*t happens" sometime (I am currently failing to update a Peregrine from JB to CM13 xD

Got gpt.bin from "official" untouched 5.1 update... same error when trying to flash it.

No, I didn't try that, as I'm not able to send any archive to the cell phone in order to be able to install that from twrp.
The error I mentioned on first post was at "pushing" the rom into the cell phone... I think it's because adb is not able to find my device ("adb devices -l" returns no results).
Also, twrp mounts the cell phone as an removable drive, perhaps, it freezes if I try to save directly with Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V.

So you have a TWRP installed on the device???? (which one?)
If so, use and OTG flashdrive, you might succeed from there

No, i don't have it installed... I use it booting from fastboot with "fastboot boot recovery.img" where recovery.img is twrp image renamed.
Edit: Also I don't have an OTG cable. :/

try to find one
That would be interesting to try to boot from the recovery (via fastboot), unplug, plug OTG w/ a 5.1 stock rom zip and try to flash

May be, check your android version matches TWRP recovery version

XT1032 - broken partitions

I was on latest stock German retail firmware and unlocked the bootloader and then tried to flash twrp via fastboot. Somehow the recovery didn't boot
and I've tried to reflash stock 5.1 firmware. Now the partition table or bootloader seems broken:
It reports Bootloader 41.1A in fastboot and "Device is UNLOCKED. Status Code: 3"
Using the stock flash method every partition seems to be gone:
All partitions report back: "(bootloader) has-slot:xxx: not found", I can still format system partition.

I only have Linux systems around to play with adb and fastboot. No chance to use blankflash windows tools. Any idea how I can unbrick the phone?

Depending on the distro, root is required to run fastboot properly. For example, in Ubunutu the command is: sudo fastboot devices
