[Q] Missing Features of S5 - Feeling frustrated & disappointed - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

So I'm coming from the Galaxy S5 (had the S4 & S3 before that). I'm starting to wish I had my S5 back. Can someone help me fix these issues or hopefully show me how to activate them on the S6 so I don't lose my mind?
1) Bluetooth button on call screen - on my S5 & S4 there was a 'Bluetooth' button so I could switch on and off of bluetooth during a call - I cannot seem to find it on the Galaxy S6 and I hate turning my bluetooth headset completely off when I'm on the train & someone can't hear me. :/
2) Floating contact 'head' - on the S5 when on a phone call I could click the home screen and be using something else, with the call 'bubble-head' style floating above - this allowed me quick access back to the call if I needed to take it off bluetooth or press a key on the dialpad. I cannot find this option for the S6 anywhere.
3) HD voice calling SUCKS! Unfortunately it's SUPER loud and has a weird hiss - anyway to disable the HD without breaking the ability to talk and surf the internet at the same time?
I am starting to feel like this is a very expensive downgrade from the S5. :/

So I figured out the answer to my first question just now on a call (isn't that the way it goes - you finally get the nerve to ask a question and you figure out the answer yourself!)
To switch between your bluetooth headset click on 'More' and then 'Switch to phone' & it switches off the bluetooth. To switch back, click on 'More' and then 'Switch to headset'. While this is certainly not as intuitive as the 'Bluetooth' button, it will suffice.

VoLTE has been bad for me. I've turned it off to get better call quality, but that prevents me from using the internet at the same time.

Omnia II Sound Issue

I posted this on the Verizon forums and it was suggested that I also post here looking for an answer so here it goes.
My phone will randomly turn sound off. According to all sound profiles my sound is on and it should make noise when ringing or text messages come in. The problem is that the sounds will randomly turn off but not necessarily all of them. I may receive text notifications and not rings or vice versa or I may not receive either. Then randomly they will come back and I will receive all the sound notifications.
I recently had my phone replaced and once I got the new one it began doing the same thing. I just can't believe that it is a coincidence that I would get two phones (both brand new) that would do the same thing. In an effort to fix it I updated my firmware on my old phone and everything but did not help.
I love this phone and I don't want to get rid of it and I don't want to go back to the Verizon store if there is a fix for it.
Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.
Hi,
I also have an Omnia II. And I do not have those issues. But what I do know is that there is an option that if you flip your phone (with the screen facing ground) the sound will shut off if someone is calling. Like if you are in a meeting and someone is calling, you just turn your phone and the sounds is then silenced.
You can find these this setting in Start>Settings>Basic settings>Motion setting
(could be other names as I use a Dutch windows)

This is the most likely problem. They set it up so that, even if the phone is tiled just slightly downward, the sound will be turned off. They really should have made it a more direct-downward position. If you turn that off and still have problems then check to make sure you're not activating a silent mode with the volume-down rocker on the side of the phone. Holding the rocker down for a few seconds will put the phone into either vibrate or silent. Hope you get it figured out!

[Q] new Sensation - loud when vibates

Hi there,
new HTC Sensaton arrived today - and I have problem with it. It vibrates very loud - it's even uncomfortable to use it in quiet places (vibrations when using buttons). When the back cover is off it's fine - it's perfectly quiet. When it's on - some part of back cover just vibrates, or something between the body and back cover cracks. I did some tests with foam tape inside - sometimes helps, sometimes not, also it's not what you want to do with a new phone.
Anybody else expecting this problem ? Is replacement the only solution ?
Thanks!

I don't have the Sensation yet, but you should be able to deactivate the haptic feedback without problems - just go to Settings -> Sound and disable "Haptic feedback". This won't affect incoming call or messaging vibrations, only the very annoying touch vibrations most Android phones come preconfigured with. If there are still other places that show haptic feedback, special settings in that specific application are typically to blame (like call dialer-feedback which has its own preference panel on most phones; keyboard vibration on some keypads which can be disabled under Settings -> Language & Keyboard).

I know that - but I do like vibrate feedback of touch operations. I use it now in Desire HD, and I want to keep it. Also I don't expect it to be a problem with every Sensation. I just hope that someone got same problem and managed to fix the hardware - using hammer or something like that.

[Q] Annoying Screen That Pops Up While Phone Is Connecting A Call

Hello, I am currently using clean rom 1.1 but I know this is a standard feature in stock.
When you make a call while connected to a Bluetooth headset their is a screen that pops up that shows you the different choices you have to connect the call. The Bluetooth I am currently on or I could choose the Phone or speakerphone I believe.
It is a popup that says Audio Source.
My problem is sometime I call somebody I didn't mean to call and I cant end the call fast enough because that popup screen stays on for like 2 seconds.
So, is there a setting I am missing to get rid of it or something else I could try I am rooted and s off.
Thanks...

Can't you simply end the call with your Bluetooth device?

I suppose I could do that but my headset has small buttons it would probably be just as fast to wait for the popup to go away.
I don't recall this kind of popup in any of the previous phones I owned. Just a minor annoyance..
I have the same complaint.
My call log has fairly small text and so if not careful could touch the entry next to the intended entry.
AND because the audio source popup is in the way I can't see who I'm calling until the popup goes away.
AND the phone has already started ringing by the time it goes away.
I'm simply asking if there is a way to disable this popup???
My phone app itself has a simple way to change audio source if I want ...

Galaxy S6 Edge+ Bluetooth forcing speakerphone when phone screen is off w Nougat?

Hi all,
I am having an issue with my Galaxy S6 Edge+ with Bluetooth forcing the speakerphone when I am making a call and driving. This has just starting occurring since the Nougat update. If someone calls me I can still answer from the head unit and the Bluetooth works perfectly. The issue is when I make a call and press the steering wheel Bluetooth button. When I do this and say the name of the person to call I get the voice command saying "Calling so and so mobile...ON SPEAKERPHONE". It says it's calling the person but then says ON SPEAKERPHONE.
What is interesting is I played around with different settings, reset my phone, unpaired and repaired, and still the same issue since the Nougat Update. But what is interesting is that I found if I make a call while my screen is active (screen is on), and I make the same Bluetooth call, I can see the google voice icon pop up on my phone, the call is made CORRECTLY, through Bluetooth. However, if my screen is off and I make the call, it ALWAYS reverts to speakerphone. So as long as I touch my phone to make the screen active for 5 or 10 seconds or whatever I have the screen set to, as long as the screen is on the Bluetooth always performs correctly. I can not figure out how to prevent the speakerphone from being the primary source when the phone screen is off and I make a Bluetooth outbound call.
Again, if someone calls me, it doesn't matter if my phone is locked, screen is off or on, the Bluetooth always works fine. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Any help is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Seems to me that the wakelock for Bluetooth calling is set to be inactive while screen is off. See if you can find that wakelock or some other wakelock that would disable Bluetooth calling and switch it so that screen off does not interfere.

@ droidriven, thank you for your reply. I have never heard of wake lock before, is this an option within settings on my Galaxy S6 Edge+? I never had this issue with prior OS's but with Nougat this issue immediately became present. If you could lead me in the right direction where I might find the wake lock setting for Bluetooth, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you again.
it looks like you are on to something. I checked this again and anytime I make a call via Bluetooth voice command and where my screen is off, I hear the automated voice command say calling so and so....on speakerphone....but when it says this, the screen stays locked and does not activate on the voice/Bluetooth command to call. I am using google voice and see no settings for wake lock or anything similar but I have pinned this down to anytime the screen is off, the voice command/Bluetooth always go to speaker phone. If someone calls me, it always works correctly, but that is because when someone calls me, my screen automatically engages/turns on.
Anyone else have this issue? It's definitely a problem and dangerous to have to grab my phone to turn it on or unlock it before making a voice/Bluetooth call. Any help to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Go to PlayStore and do a search for:
Wakelock Detector
Wakelock are system processes and don't have a "setting" to manage them.
Use this app to find the running wakelocks, if you track it down you can then look for a way to manage it the way you need it to work. It works with root and without, instructions for without root are in the link.

Droidriven,
I have a little more info on this issue. I did more research and realized somehow my "S VOICE" app was disabled so I enabled it and right away this issue was fixed! With S VOICE enabled, anytime I use the voice recognition button to make a call the screen on my phone immediately activates and the call works without going to speaker phone. With S Voice I can at least use the voice recognition button to make a Bluetooth call while driving and not have to worry about the call going to speakerphone.
The only issue I have noticed is it appears S VOICE isn't as accurate as google voice and google voice worked perfectly for me before the Nougat update. Now that I've isolated this issue to google voice where the screen will not activate when using the voice recognition button on my steering wheel to make a Bluetooth call and which causes all calls to go to speakerphone.....is this still something this wakelock detector may fix? My phone is not rooted and I have downloaded the non-rooted version of wakelock detector, I just don't know if it's going to help or not. It's odd that google voice worked fine prior to the Nougat update, whether my screen was off or locked when using Bluetooth and now all of a sudden this issue is present.
Any suggestions on this now that we know it's only google voice that has the problem and not S VOICE?

According to this and many other links I checked out, this is a common issue due to G Voice and S Voice incompatibility.

Samsung S8+ Speaker Turns on Automatically during Phone Calls

Hello,
Handset: Samsung S8+
Purchase Date: May 29, 2017
Problem: Sometimes when I am on a normal phone call (Outgoing or Incoming), speakers turns on it's own. If i look at phone, the speaker icon is not "GREEN" (which means it wasn't pressed). I have to press the speaker icon once and nothing happens because at that time the phone starts loud speaker (Which is already turned on) and then i press it again to turn it off and everything is back to normal.
During a single call this can happen multiple times.
I am not sure what's wrong. I installed a Call recorder app previously, but then uninstalled it (Thinking it might be creating that problem), but the problem still persists.
Has anybody faced this issue or anyone can hint me what to do ?
Same issue with my Galaxy s8 (sprint). Am googling and seeing multiple people have similar, will let you know if I encounter solution.
same issue being faced here on my Galaxy S8 from a couple of days during phone/messenger/whatsapp calls. it is so annoying.
any luck or solution?
bump, same issue here. anysolution? s8 g950w
ANyone?
Answer
You just need to wipe the data cache partition. You do this by turning your phone off. Then do a hard boot by pressing and holding down the Bixby button, volume up, and power all at the same time. Continue holding until blue screen comes up. Then you will see a list of commands. Use volume down to navigate to "wipe data cache partition". Use the power button to select "wipe data cache partition". When it completes, use the power button to choose "reboot". This will fix the issue.
Clearing cash definitely helped me on Samsung Galaxy S8 with the same issue. Thanks.
