So now when we have got root method for our phones I wonder if we can possibly make it to flash faster, so we would not do it the qload mode but in regular fastboot like RSD is doing.
There is this mofo project, so we can safely say that this does work for other phones.
Does anybody know how the moto fastboot actually differs from the regular fastboot? How can we flash uncompressed (and modified) system image?
Did anybody already look into this?

Long story short, I was trying to get the full ubuntu hack working on my phone, and after pushing a file, my phone is stuck at the motorola logo forever. It makes no sense why; the file I pushed was just a revised mountosh script that for one shouldn't be running at boot and two doesn't even affect system files. It seems like the only way out is to use fastboot, but instead of restoring the entire system and losing everything, can't I just flash a stock 2.3.5 system.img via fastboot? Will that boot into the new system and preserve all of my data?
Alternatively, is there a way to use adb in the stock recovery? I've tried and nothing shows up under devices. If I could do that, then I could flash the CWM on boot file or at the very least do a adb push to save my data.
Yes it will work. Just use the system.img from the fxz and flash away.
However, I have not had success on my Windows computer with flashing system.img using the fastboot that came bundled with the Android SDK. I'm not sure if the same is true on Linux, but you will probably be more successfully using the binaries found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138092
Manned up and did it. For those stuck in a situation like mine, I just downloaded the stock fastboot recovery for 2.3.5, manually flashed the system.img, and it booted up fine with all of my data intact.
Hello. i need quite a bit of help here. i have a android phone that has been bricked ( but is still able to boot into fastboot) and i have downloaded cyanogenmod. however, i do not quite understand how to flash it, and have not been able to find any answers.
heres what i have tried, so maybe you can point me down the right direction on what i should be doing:
tried flashing the whole zip file of cyanogenmod 7 by using the command :
fastboot update *pathtomycyanogenmod*.zip, however, this returned errors about not having productinfo.txt or androidinfo.txt.
so, the next thing i thought i could try is using the command "fastboot flash system * name of image file for this partition*.img , but there are no .img files for any of the partitions.
the guide i found to doing the above step^ said this:
fastboot flash userdata data.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
however, with cyanogenmod there are nmone of these except for boot.img. so, where do i get these images at, and are there any roms that support this?
also, could you give me tips on alternative ways of flashing if this is not going to be easy ( fastboot)? i use ubuntu 12.04 as my desktop os, so i cant use any windows utilitys, but i can still use fastboot and have all of the android developer stuff ready to go should we need to use that.
You can flash with a custom recovery for this phone. One is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671430. Can I ask where you got cyanogenmod for this phone? Cyanogenmod works with a different optimus net (it has a model number like p6xxx or something) not the lgl45c.
I have been rooting for about a year now, albeit largely with Samsung devices via Odin and CWM Recovery. I now have a Verizon Motorola RAZR HD (xt925) and have been unsuccessful with unlocking the bootloader. I decided to use Safestrap with it, and tried to load Eclipse-v5.0-build2-xt926, reportedly compatible with my XT925... now i am stuck with this screen:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)

Battery Low

Failed to hab check for boot: 0x56
Fastboot Reason: Boot Failure

I have been looking to XDA for my answers over the last year. Help would be appreciated. Twenty-five dollars worth of appreciation.
(Yes, I have resorted to bribes....)
Easy fix,
download what ever version of the system software you had on it previously.
Flash it in fast boot mode.
?????
Profit.
Edit: also Verizon RAZRs are xt926 not xt925

Phone identified itself as 925... either way, i am unsure where i can find stock software for it and seem to be unable to flash anything from fastboot, because as it turns out, i am code-retarded. definitely profit when this is solved. I can "cd" through dos and get to where fastboot commands are entered and I have even tried to "fastboot recovery recovery.img" but for the life of me, i must be typing the string incorrectly somehow. But I am excellent at following clear-cut directions. i will try to find a stock image...for motorola, it is a .sbf file, right? If i seem stupid, i apologize, i'm not. just not up on all the nomenclature native to adb and fastboot (or linux). Thanks for helping me though.....i need it.
Ok,
First thing I want you to do is look on the back of the phone, It will have the model on the lower half of it.
Second thing is to find the official software.
For XT96:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/vanquish/list.php
For xt925
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/vanquish_u/list.php
Flash the ROM file using RSD Lite.
If it dosnt work:
Make sure you have the moto drivers installed.
open up the .xml file in the rom and remove the "getvar" lines.
Still trying
Failed at 16/27 flash system system.img
What version did you try?
VZW_XT926_4.1.2_9.8.1Q_62_VQW_MR-4_VQW_CFC.xml
having a hard time finding other .xml files to use... any non-stock .xml available? really want to get into an AOKP/CM/PAC/Liquidsmooth/Carbon/Paranoid.....whatever is 4.2.2
No, only official roms are packaged like that.
You need to have RSDlite at least Version 6 or higher. Also, edit the xml file as stated here.
If your phone is up & running again you can consider going to another rom either with safestrap or by unlocking your BL, installing a recovery and flashing any ROM you like. As stated above you can only flash Stock FW using RSDLite. All other roms can only be applied with either safestrap or CWM Recovery (or similiar).
HELP-ME
FRIENDS, AFTER I TRY TO INSTALL A ROOM 4.2.2 MY PHONE NO OUT OF AP fastboot.
JA TRIED TO PUT ALL ROOMS OF MOTOROLA BUT NOT RESOLVED.
SCREEN IS BLACK AND PHONE DOES NOT NOTHING COULD HELP ME?: (
Hi all, I recently got this phone, the M700AR specifically, and I'm now getting to the conclusion that I can not root or install twrp or nothing... Thing is, I can't enter fastboot mode with adb, it will just reboot normally. Lg has a tool for unlocking suck bootloaders, but my model doesn't apply, and even if it did, you have to fastboot oem check the system id of the device with fast boot which I just can't boot into. I wonder if anyone is in similar poistion or can point me in the right direction, im starting to wonder if i could use the LG UP tool and LG Firmware Extractor to flash a somehow customized kdz with a specific recovery , dont know if that would do it, any how , i would like to know which kind of "lock" is this or how it works, and if its just the recovery partition and is flashable because, in download mode you can theoretically flash all partitions, thats what a kdz is about right?Any input is gratefully appreciated.
Did you find the solution?
I think it may be possible, but I've never seen it done before especially on a locked bootloader such as our LG Q6 phones. I'm not completely sure about this but locked bootloaders are mandatory to check system integrity on boot, so if we extract a KDZ file and modify the files and flash a Q6 with our modified KDZ, it won't allow for a boot and force us to flash stock ROM. Although it would be cool to see someone try it, maybe I could try it by modifying a file slightly (I don't know how to make a custom rom or KDZ) and flash it and see if it triggers system integrity check to fail. However I only own this one device and I wouldn't want to brick it (although it should be possible to boot into download mode and flash stock ROM and everything would be back to normal, unless download mode is flashed as well in a download mode flash, maybe someone could correct me here) as it would probably void warranty. Just wish LG make it simple and give us bootloader unlock, it would be grateful :^)
So I have a generic android rugged phone (F150 B2021) that I bought off eBay for £10. Nothing special but a decent backup. So anyway, this phone came with no OS installed but could get to the bootloader, fastboot and flash via ADB with what is one of the more feature-rich stock recoveries I've seen. I've tried everything- and I mean EVERYTHING to get this phone to work- flash TWRP, reboot into EDL mode, clear cache/ data both on the phone and via fastboot (neither worked)- nothing.
I can't get into the phone to enable OEM unlocking so the only method I found was flashing via fastboot- with all of the individual files. My only problem there is that I don't really understand how to do that- apparently you need to look at the contents of an .xml file (there are none of those visible in the stock OS files) and flash each one individually which I could do if I knew how to actually get to that stage. I was thinking perhaps to install a GSI of something just so I can get in to enable OEM unlocking and then flash it normally via ADB because I presume something like the Lineage 17.1 GSI would have even the "flash_all.bat" file which would make it much easier.
I guess my question is, from that stock ROM (attached) what do I actually need to flash? And how do I do it? It's so much different from, say, Nexus OS files I'm slightly more used to.
As long as a phone's bootloader isn't successfully unlocked FASTBOOT tool won't work at all.
You can try to flash phone's Stock ROM via ADB Sideload method.

Hi, that didn't work either. I was wondering if maybe I could enter EDL mode and connect the contact points to force it? Thanks
My f150 has mtk chipset I used mtk client tool to unlock and root
