Hello, I'm new to the S6. I have a couple of questions to help me decide if I should root or not. First, what are some of the main advantages to rooting the S6 specifically. In the past, I've rooted phones mainly to write directly to SD cards. Being that the S6 doesn't have one, what are some of the advantages to rooting this phone. Second, I know that if I root, OTA updates will be disabled. I have the Verizon version. How do I go about getting those updates? Do I need to install a custom recovery?

Going to cut it as short as I can, and I'll probably sound like a noob and annoying at the same time. Can I root my Galaxy S5 T-Mobile 4.4.2 G900TUVU1CNK2 without triggering knox? I don't want to touch anything (no rom or loader or anything) - I just want it to be rooted so I have some access.
If that can't be done, can I root and yet still send back to T-Mobile as a warranty replacement without them charging me?
If I were to root, can I still use the OTA upgrade from Lollipop once it comes out or does it have to be done a different way?

Hello
You can post your questions in the T-Mobile Galaxy S5 Q&A subforum. Since it's your device subforum, users with more device specific knowledge will be able to answer your queries. \
Cheers,

Hey everyone, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to Android but I have a couple questions. Thanks to the people who were recently able to get root access, I rooted my SM-G930P.
Are the other s7 ROMs (g930f models) compatible with my phone?
Is it possible yet for me to flash anything onto the s7 (or get xposed installer)? I've never done this stuff before.
Sorry if these questions don't really make sense. I'm learning as I go. Thanks!
Unfortunately, the Sprint variant does not have a bootloader unlock, so you cannot flash any roms.
I recently rooted my sprint galaxy s7. Now i want to flash a new rom to it but I can't find the resources i need to figure out how to do so. Is it even possible this
early in the roots development? Somone mentioned flashfire to me. But im afraid to use that with out knowing whether it will work. I can uninstall bloatware now and store my apps on sd but i would like a whole new operating system. Any suggestions?
Rom development is dead for the us s7's, there aren't any roms to flash.
That sucks. It was one of the big reasons i rooted.
This may be a bonehead question but...
I've been reading some of the forums for a few days now and Im at my wits end with not being able to root my Verizon Galaxy S6 (SM-G920V) due to bootloader blockage. I am noticing that it is seemingly possible to root an S7 on Verizon though. How is this possible considering the same stipulations, and an S6 being the more outdated phone??
On the S6 i believe it's possible via CF-AutoRoot, however, mine (G920W8) got it's IMEI/EFS lost and corrupted by the stock recovery it flashes back so not really recommend using it.
Protip: don't get Verizon Locked devices if you are willing to Root
Hey All,
Another Newb question of the day here:
I recently upgraded to a Samsung S8+ on the Rogers Network, as of yet I have no intentions on rooting with any Custom FW or anything, I plan on keeping Factory stock... for the most part...
My question is....
Is there ANY way I could install TWRP as the recovery, and then possibly flash SuperSu# to get the "root" advantages from apps such as "sixaxis"?
the reason I'm asking is, I have a few emulators I installed, but using a controller instead of the device would be a bit more.. practical, only issue is, Since I am fairly new to the tweaking and such of rooting/flashing, I am nervous about possibly Bricking/Void my phone since I would be flashing to a Stock Carrier firmware
be sure to bash and help this newb get his knowledge up!
Thanks;

TWRP cannot be installed on the Snapdragon model of S8+.
But you are in luck, there was recently a root method released for the Snapdragon model, which I THINK (but you should check the thread to make sure) includes your SM-G955W model: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...root-g955u-g955u1-snapdragon-sampwnd-t3658911
