Ok, this is a weird one. I have searched everywhere to find out what this is but I have not found anything. A lot of problems are similar, but nothing fixes the issues.
Issue is this. I turn my phone on and it goes all the way through the boot sequence, and turns off when it gets to the lock screen. I formatted the phone, and I get all the way to the setup screen. When I touch the screen, it turns off. I connect the charger to the phone and turn it on. We are fine here. I use the phone and do anything I want. As soon as I disconnect the charger, it turns off.
Just noticed this as well. My menu and back buttons don't work. I don't know if I disconnected something when I looked at the board, but it may be a symptom.
Any ideas here? I am thinking the battery, but I don't know why it would do that when the battery is charged to 80% and holds the charge.

Had the same issue recently.... The battery needs to be replaced. The battery I had went bad and the only way it would even work is to be constantly plugged into a charger, dc current not ac from a battery like a car.
I killed the battery not on purpose but learned a huge lesson from utilizing fast charge from a custom kernel constantly

Hi there,
So just some observations...
When I use the wireless charging pad (TYLT VU) the phone will constantly BEEP BOOP and the screen turns on to say wireless charging paused it will then turn off after a few seconds.
I've read in other forms this could be due to overheating etc.... but in touching the phone it's not hot.
This is annoying... And... no current fix I can find to stop it.
Borrow another wireless charger (or go to a Starbucks or something) to see if it's the device.
If not, you might have a damaged charging pad.
I've been getting a lot of "wireless charging paused" messages as well. I have my phone on my desk, streaming audio, and it occasionally turns on and that messages comes up, and then it immediately starts charging again...hmmm...
I have 8 pads around my house, all the Nokia D900s that they gave away with the Lumia 920s. Last night I experienced this for about... 15 seconds or so. I readjusted the phone and it worked fine thereafter. Sucks that the beeping woke us up at 5am though.
I don't think it's my pad, it happens on both.
I think positioning could be part of the cause?
Oh well...
Again, just observations I'm seeing.

I'm having the same problem on my S6 Edge. I have a couple TYLT chargers and they work perfectly fine with my Nexus 5, Nexus 6 and Nexus 7's... both work flawlessly with those. But they both fail to work properly with the S6.
I'm pretty disappointed with this. Anyone got any ideas or know of a similar shaped charger that works with the S6? I really don't want to go back to my Nexus 6 due to the size, but having the phone beeping and flashing all night trying to charge is unacceptable.
My regular S6 was doing this last night. I wonder if it has something to do with the camera sticking out and not letting the phone lay flat?
I don't like charging it with the USB because I know the frame will get all scratched up eventually.
Running into the same problem with my T-Mobile S6. After setting it on a new 3 coil charging pad, the phone looks to be taking the charge, then once the screen times out and turns off, it will vibrate, turn back on, and display "Wireless Charging Paused".

On my Qi-infinity stand, it actually does lay flat as the charging pad ends just below the camera, so I don't think that's the case here.
Update: So I've managed to solve my problem by changing the wall adaptor from an old 1A Motorola plug to a 1.5A version and it's currently charging without troubles. Switch back just to confirm and within seconds, it starts giving me trouble again. I guess the S6 is picky about the power levels? *shrugs*

I was having the same issues. It turned out I was getting my monies worth out of the $5 walmart special I was using. I ended up getting a 3 coil charging pad and now it charges just fine. Nary a hiccup.
Link to 3 Coil Charger I'm using
everyone remember to use a 2A (possibly 1.5 amp input is also okay) charger. the output will be ~1A. This was the solution to many of the cheaper wireless chargers on ebay/amazon. Just one more thing to check!

Best Solution
In the last solution, turning on Daydream will let the phone's screen on unless you turn it off.
Another better solution is to enter developer mode and turn ON StayAwake. Same effect of daydream but without the annoying on screen.
Cheers
Hello I'm using HTC M8 on GPE 5.1 rom.
Does anyone know of an xposed module or any other means to turn off all gesture/proximity features? I want the screen to ONLY turn on when I hit the power button.
The screen keeps turning on in my pocket for notifications which then causes but dials or emergency calls.
So does no one else have screen on issues when phone is in their pocket?

I can't be sure about the diagnosis of your issue, but in my case, I used to have a similar problem with my Galaxy Nexus
When the phone thought it was charging, it would light up in my pocket. The problem was that I had been using different usb cables to charge the same phone. And one of those usb cables had bent something in the micro-usb female slot of my phone. So the phone would randomly light up and go to sleep even when I wasn't touching it.
This not only caused the battery to drain more quickly, but when the phone lit up in my pocket and I was accidentally touching my activated screen, it would do all kinds of things in response to my touch. The short-term fix was to enable the lock screen on my phone (which I didn't like having) and set the debugging mode to stop turning "on" the screen all the time when it was charging (which is a setting I usually have on all the time because I am a developer). However, this didn't solve all my problems. The screen still lit up in my pocket from time to time, even if it didn't stay lit up for long.
The longterm fix was to use the same micro-usb to usb cable (the one that looked the closest to the original cable that I could remember) every single time with the same exact phone. And that eventually did the trick. I also looked into replacing the component in question, but I didn't have to go that far since the simpler solution worked for me.
I just got a Verizon Moto Z4 and everything is fine with it but two things. It heats up quickly but that's not a big enough issue for me to care, the issue I do care about is NFC, I cannot turn on or turn off NFC normally, I have to do multiple restarts in order for the NFC to either turn off or on. Any idea what the issue could be?
Struggling with my sm-n986U that still has a year of payments.
Starting from the beginning:
Software update broke wired charging, so I purchased a charge port cable from eBay, along with a new battery, got the larger capacity I've. Used wireless charging in the meantime.
After replacing the battery and charge port, I fully charged the battery with the phone turned off. Once I turned it on I noticed there was a circle with line through it where the bars are, thinking it was weird I tried toggling airplane mode, restarting, etc to no avail.
Thinking the new charges port was the culprit, I put the old one back in and turned the phone on. The signal seemed to come back but was interment, going back to the circle with line through it after connecting temporarily. Thinking I screwed up the antenna cable during the battery swap I replaced that, now getting same results with emergency calls only. Att store wasn't any help, got another sim card just in case and nothing.
Anything else I can do to try to revive my phone? There's no water damage to the main board and everything inside is clean, I did replace the screen awhile back with a used one from eBay. The new charge cable is marked rev b and my original not rev b but I put the original one back anyway. All connections look clean and are not damaged. Only thing I haven't tried us putting the old battery back since it's damaged. Any help appreciated.
