Hello Guys,
Today a friend come to me and gave me his phone to put a custom rom on it.
He said that he unlocked the bootloader, flashed TWRP recovery and has a twrp backup of the stock rom.
I have done a factory reset and formated system. So I flashed the custom rom but twrp told me that i'm having the wrong device. I wanted to restore the twrp backup but there wasn't a backup. Now I have a non starting phone with no backup. I have tried everything but I didn't start.
PROBLEM SOLVED:
I downloaded a TWRP Backup which was made for my HBOOT version and put it on my usb stick and connected it via usb otg. Restored Backup with TWRP and the thing was done.

I got my Motorola DEFY recently, and I'm new to Android, but I want to install stuff that needs root. However, I want to be able to restore everything to how the phone was when I got it, should the need arise.
I successfully rooted using z4root and installed ROM manager, at which point I did some googling and discovered that if I install ClockworkMod Recovery it's not easy to revert back to the normal recovery console. It's not that hard, but I understand it requires an image of the original recovery console. I thought that the backup option on ROM Manager would help, but it requires ClockworkMod Recovery to be installed.
So the question is, can the recovery console be backed up prior to installing ClockworkMod Recovery, or alternately can the entire phone state be backed up, including the recovery console and the rest of the ROM.
Help would be appreciated. Thanks!
If you install CWM Recovery you can do a nandroid backup of your stock ROM so that you can revert later. You don't need to worry about a stock recovery image because once you restore the backup you made, the custom recovery will be overwritten with the stock one with every reboot.
So I had my phone rooted running fine with the latest cwm recovery and did a nandroid backup, then I flashed the twrp img for a new recovery and that went fine. Where i messed up is i tried to flash a lockscreen handle mod and it got stuck in bootloop...so no biggie i thought...well then i wiped everything and proceeded to restore my backup i made except apparently twrp wont restore cwm backups and i have no rom or gapps on my internal storage so i have no OS? Please someone assist me on how to fix. I have connected the phone to try and adb push a rom to it but it will not connect with latest sdk. it show's it's connected on bootloader but no luck in adb it says device not found. Thank you so much for any input!!!
So I made a Nandriod backup, installed a new rom. I didn't like it so I restored my Nandroid backup. But instead of rebooting, I installed a new update of the rom which I restored through the Nandroid backup. Due to this I could boot into my rom but I didn't have a cell signal. I also couldn't boot into my recovery(tried flashing boot.img of latest recovery through Flashify but that didn't work either). It directly booted into my rom. Phone didn't have any problem booting into the fastboot mode. Anyways, I then connected the phone to my computer, booted it into recovery with terminal, restored my Nandroid+EFS backup and now have a fully functioning phone.
I want to understand what I did wrong here so that this doesn't happen again. How did my IMEI get corrupted? Was it because I restored my nandroid backup and installed a new version of the same rom without rebooting? Or was it something else?
So sadly USB port died and I can't copy files anymore. Charging still works. The phone was rooted and has custom recovery TWRP. So I've made the backup copy of stock ROM in TWRP to which I successfully restored but the problem is the the recovery itself. Since USB doesn't work I can not just flash stock Rom via Odin. What would be the best thing to do? Flash stock recovery from Samsung via TWRP (not sure if I just said something stupid). Or just send it with TWRP to Samsung and stock ROM (not sure they will be happy to see it). Thank you to whoever is still around and can help.
Hi there, Thaught, I was on the save side for 2 years, having my TWRP, made a backup after every change on the 12+, now I had to recover it...
Steady installed TWRP 3.3.1.0 on 1.68.401.6 does a restore without errors, restart ends with bootloop.
So I flashed new with 1.53.401.5, tried to fastboot boot twrp.3.2.3.3 and restore my backup -> bootloop
Flashed 1.53.401.5 again, made a backup of that fresh system with booted TWRP, to test that restore, brings the same bootloop.
Have to say, the twrp versions are the right ones for the used SW versions. Decryption is working.
Where is the blind spot in my brain??
Please delete my ask here, I'll try my luck in TWRP thread. Still my problem.
