[Q] How to switch to Roboto Condensed/Light? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Until 4.4 I used to set Roboto Condensed system font by simply editing a couple of lines in system/etc/fonts.xml but now on Lollilop the file is different and I can't find any method to do it that doesn't include a third party Apps.
I think is lame to use third party Apps to set a variant of Roboto since it's already included in the system, plus I tried Fontster and the font they provide clearly is bugged/modified.
Any help? Thanks in advance.

Bump.

Jrummys toolkit has tons of type faces. Get it and it has I'm using it

Change font used by the Kindle App on Android

Hi,
I don't like the font used by the Android Kindle App. Unfortunately, the app doesn't allow to change the font. For a reading app, it could be useful to allow users to change the font...
I thought that it uses the default Android font (DroidSans) or DroidSerif, but when I change it with FontChanger, in the Kindle app, it's still the same used...
Thanks for your help.
Not every ebook uses the same font with the Kindle app. A few of the ebooks that I have use DroidSerif-Regular.ttf so you may want to try changing that. Hope that helps.

Larger Fonts and Text in System & Apps

[Rom] Could use some help with increasing Nexus 7 Text and System Fonts size.
Have tinkered with the user available settings in Display and Accessibility, but having old eyes, I could use larger system fonts.
I tried to increase the dpi, but apps and desktop start looking bad at anything over the default 213.
I am running 4.1.2 rooted and have CWM recovery .and would not mind changing system files..
Any help would be appreciated.
Use a font installer and change the system fonts to something to your liking. ROM toolbox has one built in. You can probably find one in the Play Store.

This should probably be in Q&A...you would get more responses.
Most of the CM based ROMs (including AOKP and the like) have a font size control in the display section of settings. Pretty sure it is a CM thing and not in AOSP. It used to be in a separate app in the GB era but they merged it into settings with ICS. It does pretty much exactly what you are looking for. I have just started with reading glasses in the last few years, so I can deal with tablets, but I use it for my phone.
Is that what you tried? It works pretty well in my experience.

[Q] Changing Icons on GEL

Just curious if anyone has found a way to use icon themes (For example, Stark) on 4.4 with the Google Experience Launcher? I tried Unicon and installed Xposed Framework, but it doesn't seem to work.
If there is a way to change icons, other than using Icon Changer and creating individual shortcuts with PNG files, I'd really appreciate someone sharing that with me
I'm interested in this, too, but not confident it can happen.
It can always be done but it will need someone to create zips. Using vr-theme, it can unpack apks and change the icons within the apks and repack them. So for example, to change the chrome icon, within the vr-theme zip can be a replacement icon for chrome, in a folder structure matching the location of the icon within chrome and the location of chrome within /system.
Its a lot of work the first time round to create the zip but once its done, its easy to update the icons.
Google "villain rom theme"

Use xposed framework and use unicon from the playstore
Edit sorry i just saw you tried that

I did try xposed and Unicon, and it all worked perfectly. Well worth the effort (minimal) and cash (minimal)

Change fonts

I had the s6 edge and I would change the font and it wasn't a problem. I downloaded apps like ifont and it worked just fine. Now, I went to add the same font (roboto condensed) and it won't allow me to! The ifont app says I might have to root...I don't want to. Any way around this? I hope this makes sense
The same thing with me. Maybe they changed the flip font. I guess we wait for root. Then use ifont
Yea it's a bummer. Was using customs with Hifont on my S6 Edge without any problems. Now when I install a custom font and try to apply it i get "Font is not supported. Please contact the font owner". Not sure if it's a Marshmallow or a Tmobile restriction issue. I've even tried using fonts using the apk method.

Canadian P20 Themes App Mishap

Hey, guys.
I live in Canada and my provider is Virgin. I have a P20 with EMUI 9.0 (Android Pie) and I've been using the themes app fine even though I didn't have AppGallery or Huawei Mobile Services installed through 3rd party apps. I used to have options to look at more than my preset themes. Due to the recent US-Huawei ban, I have decided to try out the AppGallery and it installed Huawei Mobile Services app as well. Since Canada didn't show up as one of the regions, I have chosen UK as the region. I have lost all the abilities to change my themes since then. I have attached a screenshot of what my Themes homepage looks like. There is an option to customize but it still only shows stock options and no new installed themes and no way to theme the actual UI. Is there any way around this? I have also factory reset my phone and it didn't help.

Hi!
For theme downloads and theme editing I've tried the following apps:
Themes for Huawei / Honor / EMUI - This android app is not only for downloading themes but also for editing. You can modify every theme as you wish - change fonts, icons, emojies, colors.
Theme Editor For EMUI - This android app can import hwt files to edit them. It's not very user-friendly.
Huawei hwtTool - This windows/iOS software is a developer tool from Huawei Dev-Server. It can create and edit themes in the most comfortable way. Your PC.
I think you should try the first app first.
Greetings!
Thanks for these apps. But the problem that I have isn't that I cannot install themes. Once I install a custom theme, there isn't a way to apply it. I used to be able to see custom installed themes in the Huawei factory Themes app but now the options are gone.
As you can see in my original post, the preset themes are the only themes I can see. There used to be an option to choose "My Themes". After I choose Customize option, I get to change the wallpapers and icons but even with those options I only get preset themes.
I even tried to find a place to move a custom hwt file to where the preset themes are placed but couldn't find it.
This is super annoying since P20 doesn't come with native dark mode like the P20 Pro.

I'm having this same problem with my p20
Exact same problem here. Even tried using the Huawei mobile service but it just won't even start. Anyone having a workaround?
same prob here
I have the same issue, but I am sure it was a problem before I added app gallery (I chose Australia lol) and mobile services. It was because I couldn't change themes that I went searching for them in the first place.
I need a dark mode. Any updates?
