Hi! I need help with an issue on my device, it's a Moto G XT1032 running the optimized version of Kitkat 4.4.4 provided by user lost101 and previously available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/rom-stock-motorola-lollipop-rom-t3017510 .
My laptop is running Windows 7, 64 bits.
The problem I'm having is that whenever I connect it to my laptop the device starts charging the battery (hence the cable works) but doesn't allow me to use MTP. The USB icon doesn't prompt on the status bar and on the laptop nothing pops up.
I've turned off and on again the MTP check box on setings/storage. Already uninstalled and reinstalled the Motorola Device Manager (at least three times). Also tried installing the Drivers by themselves and is still not working. Found a thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115366) where multiple users claim to have find the method as a solution but doesn' work for me.
Any solution you can provide? Thanks in advance.

Hi all
there are a few threads like this but not quite matching my situation so I will ask here:
Moto Xoom MZ 601 recently upgraded OTA to 4.0.4
a few weeks ago rooted device, kept same OS
ever since then when connecting XOOM to PC I hear the little dink sound indicating a connection
but there is no indication that the drivers are being installed/updated
and the XOOM does not show up under my computer (which it used to)
however there is an MZ600 icon under devices and printers (which there was not before)
but of course cannot browse the Xoom contents from that Icon.
this occurs with USB debug on and also off.
it occurs after uninstall of the moto drivers from PC reboot reinstall moto v2.8.8 driver and reboot Xoom and reconnect.
interestingly when I boot the Xoom into recovery and connect to PC get the connection thunk, the PC now makes like it is
installing drivers but this fails midway thru.
so short of unroot, any ideas how to get the XOOM recognized by PC when connected with USB?
(I did install wi fi explorer pro so can see files on XOOM on PC via wifi, but would still like to be able to work connected with USB)
thanks in advance for advice!!

I had already tried the moto 2.2.28
Is the end user driver 5.9 for handset or also for tablet?
seems to indicate handset where I saw it on internet
Hi Guys,
I've had a few problems with my N5 recently...
If I plug my N5 into my PC via the stock USB cable and boot into the Bootloader (PWR+VOLDN) then it will allow me to flash the original N5 firmware, located here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images, this would indicate to me that there is no issue with the actual devices ability to transfer files via USB connection... Right?
No!
For some strange reason my phone will allow me to push a full factory image to it and will also process any Fastboot commands that are sent to it but as soon as you boot into something like TWRP and try to control the phone's ADB functionality it will not find the device at all! The new MTP option in TWRP 2.8 will allow my computer to see my phone's MTP connection for about 1 second and then will immediately disconnect, the same happens when trying to connect to MTP from within Android too.
USB debugging doesn't show that it is connected when my phone is plugged into my PC and Windows makes the 'device connected' sound and then straight after makes the 'device disconnected' sound...
Any ideas? I am certain that this is an issue with my handset's hardware or software rather than any of the computers or cables... I have tried 3 different cables (including the stock cable) and also three different computers (Windows 8.1 @ Work, Mac OS X @ Work and my own personal PC running Windows 8.1 & Ubuntu @ Home)... All OSs and all computers run into exactly the same issue, device connects briefly and then disconnects.
I have troubleshooted issues relating to the driver. This is not the issue... Device Manager cannot even see the hardware after the disconnect.
Thanks for any help in advance,
Lewis
Also:
-Android does not detect that the USB is charging the device unless the device is booted with the cable attached (if it's not attached before the 'Google' screen then it can't see the USB input at all, within android or TWRP, of course...).
Having the exact same problem. Did you find a solution?

It's most likely a driver issue.

Not a driver issue.
3 different Nexus 5s, 5 different workstations. Other two Nexi are fine on all 5 PC's.
1 PC used for ADB forensics, 2 used for ADB development work, one known working for ROM'ing / rooting.
Phone has been factory reset, factory ROM'd from Fastboot. Connects fine on Fastboot. Will not connect on ADB / MTP.
On a fresh PC / phone reboot, the PC will detect the phone for just a second and then it will not reconnect until process is completed.

Hi,
I'm using this CM 11 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2922500 but I have strange problem with my laptop. It periodically looses driver information for my device. I don't know how but when I re-installed my OS Windows 7 (32bit) it found the proper driver. Later I've got a message that my USB device is not recognized and can't connect to my device. Does anyone else have the same problem and do you know a fix? I've tried a lot and different driver versions but without success. Logcat doesn't show anything last time but I will try later or when I loose drivers again (it seems I cannot use USB again).
BTW I don't have this problem with my desktop PC which has always connected USB cable to it. Also everything works fine with CM 10.1, MIUI or Sense ROMs but they are based on lower Android versions.
P.S. I was trying to connect with another USB cable. I've found my cable that I used to install drivers and USB is working again. This is really strange behaviour
Logcat from device terminal
Logcat when plug in or out my USB connector is attached.

Hey all!
I recently bought a new windows 8.1 laptop and tried to transfer some files to my OPO. When I plugged my device, it showed installing device software and after installing the window closed and nothing happened. In device manager it shows A0001 with an exclamation mark.
I have already tried installing samsung drivers, it showed up in adb devices but not in explorer so I uninstalled the drivers and got back to A0001. It is still charging though. It also is not shown in recovery..
I searched everywhere but no luck. It works fine in my desktop pc, I saw the drivers and it was listed under portable devices with mtp drivers installed but portable device section was not even showing up in my laptop :/
I somehow had managed to work it out in the pc but it was a long a time ago, it is too running Windows 8.1. And yes, the mtp connection is checked. If it helps, I have BlissPop ROM v2.1 installed.
Help!
Hi there,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.

I tried to access my phone's internal storage but the phone doesn't show in My Computer. The Portable Device in Device manager says MTP USB device and it has the yellow triangle on it. The Samsung driver is the Android Composite ADB Interface with no triangle. I have debugging on but the MTP device driver always fails whether debugging is on or not. I used Koush's drivers found here on XDA but same old thing. The Portable Device used to show up as A0001 and /or One but now it doesn't and I don't understand how that happened. Can someone enlighten me and perhaps solve this problem? It's been very frustrating as I just spent 13 hours trying to get my phone working (Thanks Heisenberg for fixing) and now another 6 trying to figure this out. Please HELP if you can. Thanks!

Even I had faced this problem on Windows 8. I had installed drivers 4-5 odd times. But later I just flashed CM11S zip via recovery and enabled USB Debugging Mode and it finally got recognized on my laptop.
I was facing many issues with all lollipop ROMs. Hence I reverted back and now everything is working fine.
I, too am using CM11s as Lollipop has too many bugs for me at this time. Maybe I'll try re-flashing CM and see what happens. Thanks for the reply
My question is: How can one flash from recovery when the file that needs to be flashed cannot be sent to the phone because it's not recognized by the computer?
Nevermind...I figured it out and flashed 11S successfully! Everything shows up now on computer. WOOT!
