[Q] [Theme/Ringtone] Custom Themes' Ringtones, not staying chosen? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey OPO Xda Crew,
This might not be a specific OPO question per se, but I have been struggling for the past 2-3 weeks, since CM12 auto updated on my phone, with my custom themes. Now my phone is rooted and I have TWRP Recovery etc. etc. so that much works, however, whenever I try to apply a custom theme, and the proceeding ringtone/notification in the Theme Chooser, it will show it's saved, then on a reboot (as most Themers recommend to reboot after applying) the ringtone does not stay, and the notification changes to something random... This has been actually hazardous since one of my jobs is being a Teacher on CALL, if I don't have a ringtone to tell me I'm being called, I kind of lose my job. Any thoughts? The themes I have are those such as BlakAzure, SAVIZ, Milos UI... really popular ones, and I kind of just mix and match pieces... but I'm really getting frustrated with what's been happening.
If anyone has a work around, aside from maybe getting the .mp3 or .ogg files and manually adding them.
Thank you so much,
S

[PORT][Progress Thread] CM Notification Window Power Control Widget for Sense ROMs

EDIT 11/11/10: See Here for the official release thread.
EDIT 11/8/10: See Here for latest progress / update
Okay, wanted to give you guys a sneak peek of a port I just started working on this past weekend, for integrating the CyanogenMod Notification's panel power control widget into Sense based ROMs.
Short of the rotary lockscreen I originally ported back in the day, this has been one of the most intensive ports I've had to tackle, but it's getting close.
I've got the port to a point where it is mostly functionality (some buttons are not working yet, etc), but as you will see in the quick video demo, the formatting, etc, is all FUBAR'ed.
The formatting issues "should" be relatively easy to fix, my main focus to this point was to get things functional, then worry about pretty-ing it up, etc.
You can see in the video I currently have the widget set to the options for 'Lockscreen|Flashlight|GPS|Silent Mode', and you will see when I toggle the right 2, that the status bar updates accordingly to reflect the change in mode/status, based on the toggle. You can't really see, obviously, the flashlight come on, but it is working as well, in addition to the lockscreen on/off toggle.
Anyway, just a sneak peek. It may be that I never get it fully functional, and this ends up being nothing but a tease, but, I'm pretty persistent... .
Awesome. I just started working on this last week for Zen's ROM. It is a very daunting task. I got everything to show up, but wasn't able to get it functioning. Smali editing sucks. I've also been working on editing the recent apps icons in the notification menu from Zen's ROM (And Desire HD I think) and customizing them to be shortcuts that I use. The recent apps is useless and I'd love to have my shortcuts there instead.
I'll be watching this to see how you make out. I've slowed down on this since I'm waiting to get a new phone.
EDIT: GOOD LUCK!

Thanks. Yes, .smali editing sucks, especially this type, where you can't simply replace smali files and update resource ids, etc, as the two services.jar files are vastly different as it relates to the status bar, so it has been a complex merger of the two.
I'm close, but need a break! I'll probably re-visit this more over the coming weekend, when I have time to dig in. I have more hours invested in this from last weekend than I care to admit, and the wife wasn't very happy with me as a result...
wow js!!!! i really like this feature!!! hope you get it fully functional!!!

I've been there one too many times!
VERY cool. I would for sure use this. I'm almost surprised no one has thought of this...it's such a genius idea...for something so obvious haha

I'd have to imagine others have thought of it, now pulling it off of is a different story . It is not a simple task.
I didn't know this existed in CM until I was working on porting a mod I made for hex editing the lockscreen/notification window banner text (carrier) on Sense based ROMs over to CM, which forced me to load CM for testing, then, EUREKA!
Almost wish I hadn't come across it

I'm so glad you got an EVO JsChiSurf. This looks very promising! I was just pouring over the code changes in your rotary lockscreen port the other day to see if I could get it working on my EVO. Long story short, I crapped a brick and put that thought to rest.

Thanks. Yes, the problem with the Rotary lock is, on 2.1, HTC left most of the remnants in place, in 2.2, not so much, so it is going to take more work to pull off.
I think it is possible, but I haven't had the time or motivation to dig in. If someone else doesn't get to it first, it's on my list, but it's more fun to work on new stuff, rather than something I've already done before, so I'm less motivated to do it again .
This will be sweet. I loved it on my Samsung

Thanks. Made some more head way this evening, but still much more to tackle...
This reminds me, I went digging into Sense to get the Mail widget to work in LauncherPro. Boy, what a PIA. I got it to show up and insert, but it wouldn't work. I figure there has to be a way to make it independent. I bet I'd have a lot of time to work on it if I got divorced...
i'm soo glad you got an evo bro. This will be sweet.
This looks amazing. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Awesome man! Thanks for doing this, it is such a nice feature on the Galaxy S and CM 6.1. I hope it works out
Progress Report
Okay guys, getting real close on this port of the CM Power Control Widget for Sense ROMs. The video below will show you how far along I've come with this port. I've pretty much got most of the cosmetics corrected, but still have a few of the widgets to get functional, most notably bluetooh and wifi (don't think it will be an issue, just need to time to dig in).
This port/mod, upon release, requires changes to services.jar, and framework-res.apk, and as such, if you are using custom themes, edits, etc, you'll probably want to wait and see / request for your ROM dev or themer to take this as a base / starting point to integrate into their ROM or theme, as there is simply no way to do it the other way around. There are just too many edits involved to try and do this any other way in order to retain your previous mods / edits.
You'll see in the video that I actually moved the widget bar below the sprint banner / clear button area, rather than the default above. I think it looks better, curious what you guys think.
Also, while CM allows you to turn on/off widget options via the menu/settings area, I don't plan on going that far, and may either just fix it to 6 most popular, or provide a file on your phone that you can manually modify to specify the widgets (up to 6), you want to use.
Looking for opinions, based on the list below, if I were to fix it to 6, hard coded, what 6 in the list of available widgets would be preferred. Available widgets are:
Airplane mode
Auto rotate
Bluetooth
Brightness
Flashlight *
GPS *
Lockscreen *
Mobile Data
Network mode
Sleep
Screen Timeout
Sound (mute) *
Sync
Wifi
*Included in the video demo below.
Some of these I haven't test and am not exactly sure what they do, lol.
Also, curious what you guys think about the addition of toast notifications when a button is pressed (on screen text confirmation / message) and/or haptic feedback when pressed.
That's it for now. Again, getting close to a release soon.
WOW!
This is huge buddy
Awesome job.
My vote goes for:
Bluetooth
Flashlight
GPS
Wifi
Airplane
Brightness
Awesome work btw
I vote
Wifi
Mobile Network
Sound
Bluetooth
Auto Rotate
Lockscreen

Transparency without 3rd party apps???

Hi All,
Im new here and I recently divorced iPhone! I have an HTC HD2 and its probably the BEST ive ever had! Ive seen a lot of posts for themes, etc, however, I prefer the "boring" default homescreen I have (snapshot attached). Ive installed cht and I think it was GREAT, but I didnt like the way my phone "blinked" everytime i woke it up. In any case, i prefer the default screen and my question is, Is it possible to have a bit of transparency on my phone WITHOUT installing 3rd party apps like cht and so on? (Just a simple cab file that adds the TRANSPARENT look to my homescreen and other screens). This will be great! I love playing with custom backgrounds that I make with photoshop, so some transparency will be perfect!
Thanks in advance guys, and keep up the GREAT work!
Regards,
Yaz

Since you use Sense are tons of Manila files that devs have modified that have made certain items transparent. You'll have to hunt for those. What you should really do is load a custom ROM, preferably one with CHT baked in, and go from there. I guarantee your phone won't "blink".
Wow,, THIS SITE IS THE BEST!!!
When I had the iPhone and registered on one of the forums, I used to submit posts, and not get a response for AT LEAST 2 DAYS!! To get a response within a couple of hours is SUPERB!!
Anyway (sorry about that! - got a bit excited) About your recommendation for loading a custom ROM, I guess you saw my specs so you are confident that I wont have any issues. However, I dont know WHAT TO DO, HOW TO DO IT, WHAT I NEED, etc. Therefore, I would be grateful if you would kindly "link" me to the right direction, and I will take it from there. If I do face any issues, would it be OK to pm you?
Please let me know!
Cheers again!
If you want a rom that has both CHT and has transparency have a look at energys rom, link here:
Just scroll down and find the version you want! There are a few, you need to have hslpl installed and then just flash his rom!
If you don't want to flash a new rom and just make a few changes to the stock rom here are a few links to a ton of mods/tweaks for ya(transparency included)..

C.W. backup to rom?

Ok, can you take your clockwork backup of your current rom and turn it into a custom rom?
I looked at the clockwork backup files, and there are some .tar and so on, but my main question is can you take those files and make a custom rom out of it?
I know that generally .tar files are not really compressed, and you can use a program such as 7zip to look into, edit or even zip these files all together.
Forgive my ignorance on this subject. I do have a Oracle VMbox set up on my pc running the Ubuntu, and have made some changes to it there, and made many more customizations to the looks, such as
many different games and applications
changed theme (battery icon, color, and just about every other one you can think of)
changed bootanimation
changed downanamation
added transparent notification tab
and more......
you get the idea
Installed are quite a few paid aps and the like, so what I'm looking to do is make a rom that has all of these changes already added to it, so when I do a recovery, all I have to do is flash the Rom, and not go through a million things to get it the way that I want.
I do understand that thats what Rom manager is for, and all you have to do is go to clockwork, or use rom manager and restore, but I have friends that love all the customizations and the like that is on my phone, and a Rom would be the answer to giving them what I have.
I would also be interested in sharing what I have done (giving credit where it is due of course) and getting feedback from the more experienced.
If this is a crazy rant, that is hard to follow, please forgive this freekin country boy, my up-bringin waznt that good.

Theming First CM7 Rom, Need Help Setting Defaults.

Ok so I have decided to make my first attempt at making a Themed CM7 Rom. For my first attempt I just decided to kind of port my phones original Stock Froyo Rom onto CM7. I figured I would do this first just to teach myself how to do things and not so much worry about things like style or images as most can just be swapped over as I have decompiled all the APK’s from both Roms. I have gotten pretty good as far as doing simple things like swapping or editing images and rebuilding the APK’s but there are a few things specific to CM7 that I have not been able to figure out. At first I thought that if I just kept looking I would find answers before running through all the APK’s. Now I’m just about done with all the APK’s and everything is working and looking good but I have yet to figure out the following before putting a stamp on the project.
1, Was actually how to enable a bootsound but have just figured it out.
2, the build I used for the theme came with the Nexus Live Wallpaper as the default. I have replaced the default wallpaper in the Framework-res but can’t figure out how to set it as the actual default and not the nexus. I have read on a few forums that I should find it in a strings.xml and replace “live wallpaper” with @Null but not only can I not find the entry it just does not sound correct, but I really have no idea.
3, How to change the default lockscreen style? Looking to set the sliding tab style as the default.
4, How to disable the glowing over scroll effect as a default?
I know these are probably Rooky questions but I am by all means a complete Rooky. Otherwise I am proud I got this far, the thing looks just like the crapy old glichy Froyo Rom. Anytime I would have an idea in the past I would loose interest in the idea in trying to figure out how to apply the idea. This kind of has worked out as I’m just about done and the next time an idea hits me I can be all over it. Anyhow any advice on the above three would rock. I did not think they would be as difficult as they are but I have been unable to find anything that has worked so far.

LG Home+ Themes for LG G7 ThinQ

Hello everyone & welcome to my new thread dedicated to build custom themes for the LG G7 ThinQ only!
Reasons & Goals: After owning Samsung flagships for years, I got very well accustom to their great theme store that gives the user the opportunity to make their device feel and look different, but after moving to the G7 ThinQ I felt that the official LG theme store sucks a$$ when it comes to options offerings, so I decided to create my own themes.
Note: I will be adding new themes to this thread commonly. Released themes are subject to updates aimed to either fix or add features, they will be posted with revisions # & dates.
How To Apply: Download & install the apk file and go to Wallpapers & Themes settings, You'll see it there.

Great job on the orange... But when i try the stock theme it's orange too?? Even tried reverting back to the lg stock theme and then re applying the sour stock, but it's still basically the orange... Orange framework and orange icons.

Very interesting that a guy with absolutely zero theme threads in the past within a span of a couple days just happens to have 4 full themes made. Also very interesting that some things in said themes have elements that were only needed on G6 themes and aren't even needed on the G7 nor present on the stock system. I'm curious why you'd have those things there if they're not even needed and part of the G6 themes and specifically something that perhaps was found in specific G6 themes? I wonder what will happen if some of these things are compared to a few specific themes and we see if said elements/images are pixel for pixel identical? Wouldn't that be just a huge coincidence? Let me ask you something here. If you actually made your own specific image that was unique and you saw it somewhere else other than where you put it, do you think you'd recognize your own work or no?
Also very interesting that in some files within your theme , contain names of specific themes and other theme designers' designer name in them? I wonder why anyone would have a file named after another person's theme in their own theme? That seems rather odd doesn't it. Also odd that some things that took some of us a year to figure out, you've miraculously figured out with zero help in a matter of days! That's just amazing bud.
So I guess I'll keep looking and see what else I happen to find. At this point there are a lot of red flags happening and this isn't going to end well. There is a right way of doing things and then there's "the easy way". The easy way is never right, and the right way is never easy. You now have to make a choice. Either fix everything and do things the right way or stand your ground and try to deny it all and wait to have this thread shut down. I'll give you a day or two to decide and in the meantime I'll compile a list of suspicious elements to present to the moderation team should you choose door number 2.

Hello, after reading your accusations of my 4 Theme+ and asserting that I stole yours and others developer's themes, that I also I have not previous experience therefore it is odd to you this is my response.
1. Although certain files are not needed on the G7 due to a change/update on how the theme engine works, I have them there for the following reasons:
A. I also make themes for my V30 and my G6
B. Under System > Priv-App there is a pre-installed theme on the G7 called "White". That theme is a pure premium theme that under "commom" you get to see and change almost every single aspect of the phone's UI, and I used that Theme as a template because it has everything you need to make your own themes.
C. You say that certain theme colors are identical to other Devs, and that is either a bad coincidence or you got our files mixed up while decompiling others people's themes for I don't know what reasons.
2. And yes I would recognize my own work if I saw somewhere else, but how different can a Stock Android or Pixel XL based theme be, they follow a certain hue of blue and either White status bar icons color or blue, or White with a blue background. My Sour Orange theme was made by following the stock "White" Theme as a template.
3. You said that it took you years and that "of course" I don't know anything about LG's theme and its Framework because I don't post anything before, why would I? I made this themes because I have been doing it since it was introduced in the G5 & V20 I believe, I just don't usually share my stuff. Not all of us share our custom roms we make by using AOSP or Lineage OS as templates.
4. Also I see that you make themes too, and you know that it takes a lot to just make one. I made them weeks ago, I post them all at once because they work and have not UI issue or glitches. And again, things didn't take years to figure it out baceuse you have to do to learn it real good is root your LG device, Download Themes from their Store, Pull the APK's and use them as template. And if I was new at this, I would've follow this easy tutorial: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75130522&postcount=10
5. I make Themes for nothing in return because I build them for myself so why not. You make and sell yours I believe, I hope that is not the reason why you are decompiling my themes and accusing me of stealing your work, because although they still are overlays, yours are Subtractum based I believe and mine are just straight forward, and recognize you from previous LG Device "Theme Forums".

Ok so you've made your decision and are denying using other people's work without consent. There are infact specific files hidden within the stuff you posted that physically have not only another themes name written on it, but the name of the person who made it.
But nice try dodging this. Listen bud I get it. You got excited and wanted to share some stuff. But you went about it all wrong. You took the easy way out and thought no one would notice.
Here's just one little screenshot of another guys name in a classes.dex file from your theme. I can show a bunch of other stuff if you want? I'm pretty sure you're name isn't WSDeveloper aka WSteams aka bin than who is another guy who makes themes.
Want me to show some pixel for pixel pngs too where you have identical to the pixel images as other people? Or some xmls that are line for line identical? Maybe I should post the JSON file that has another themes name in it that you overlooked and forgot to delete? The reason you didn't see all of this and I did is because you didn't build from source. You decompiled other people's stuff and did it that way.
At the end of the day you took other people's work and slapped your name on it and called it your own.
You need to stop, own up and do things right without using other people's stuff. I've given you the chance to make things right and have a bit of dignity and respect but it seems you want to do what everyone else does when they get caught and try to twist things and deny it when the proof is right there.
So again you have one last chance to make things right. You can easily rebound from this and use it as a learning experience. Hell I'll even help you out because albeit I'm focusing on substratum now, I have about 30 or 40 lg themes. Btw my substratum themes are encrypted so people can't decompile my stuff lol! I assure you , that you're not the first person who's tried to do this with LG themes in general. So the ball is in your court.
I think we both know that I'm right and that I'm not bluffing or making things up here. I cannot however stand back and watch this type of behaviour continue without saying something.
So take some time and cool off if need be and decide how you wish to proceed because the next step will be to present everything in question to the mods.
So ask yourself if you want to learn some things and do it right or do it the easy way and cheat? Again I can help you but first you need to make amends.
I wish you good day now.
I thank you both for your work to give the general phone using population a place to go to truly customize their phones. But im gonna be honest, I tried Marks way of installing his alpha theme and then i tried Tetra's way and its a whole lot easier and way more convenient. I'm really tempted to not touch this argument between two contributors that clearly dont make a lot of money giving me the consumer what I want. At the end of the day seems mark is mad that tetra may have stolen work , but more so its seems Mark is more frustrated that Tetra's theme solution is straightforward, doesn't involve two pay walls and is a 10 second solution compared to Mark's which takes forever. Mark really not trying to cut you down, but an apk install and then jump to theme page is a lot better. Whether Tetra stole work or not his way forward is the one that all developers should look to.
