H955 original firmware flashing - LG G Flex 2

Hi there,
I just bough an LG Flex 2 (H955), but the phone is Vodafone branded, thus the firmware is a little behind (still has V10c).
I tried to flash a North European version 10e, but the firmware did not change, although no errors showed up during the process (except a server error but the process continued). I tried to flash using LG FlashTool 2014.
What am I doing wrong?
The phone is running on Polish Orange network, on the box I found that is is a H955 VFD2 variant (whatever that means?).

New firmware wont help. Its piece of **** and nothing will fix it. I wish I never bought it.

It is normal.
The branded phones always indicate a less version, but this is the same version of software.
normal --- branded
V10c --- V10b
V10d --- V10c

Ok, but can I actually debrand the phone in any way?
Is there actually a point to do this? Will I get the software updates faster?

You can delete programs/start screen of Vodafone, but no the version. (system/op directory? I not sure. backup!!!)
When LG launched an upgrade, you upgrade with LG FlashTool 2014 and you do not have any problems with OTA

I assume I have to wait for a Vodafone firmware to be released?
I tried to flash one of the firmwares from the first post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/official-lg-h955-phone-firmware-t3090920
The process went fine, but the firmware did not change. Can there be a lock of sorts in place?

I don't understand that, here is the same: UK version D and Europe Open K version.
Does anyone tried to remove the sim card and tried to update the phone without it?
Program checks IMEI, not sim card.
LG Mobile Support Tool instal for me MCCI(r)Firmware Update Driver for MTK??????? hm...
Maybe LG give the update later for all phones.
As I expected! I've changed the country to Europe, then I got the update, but after restarting, it still on V10d!!

[Q] H955 Rom on F510L

Hi guys,
So here is my question, I got a LG G Flex 2 F510L from south Korea. And I wanted to know if it would be possible to switch the ROM for the H955 (which is the version currently sell in France) (because yeah I'm french ) since they got basically the same hardware...
And I don't want to test it myself because there is no custom recovery yet if I make a mistake etc... So, what do you guys think of my idea ?
It would work flashing it onto your phone, it would perform just like any other android smart phone, presuming they have the same specs. For example, if you flashed one of the h955's that only have 16gb's of memory, it would show in your storage that you only have 8 gb's or so remaining due to the system taking up 23 (in actuality it only uses 9, but it thinks it only has 16.) HOWEVER, even though it would perform just like an android smart phone, it would act like one, but without being capable of using your sim card, until you went back to stock. From what I understand, unless the phone, like the rom you flash, is unlocked, then your phone carrier won't be able to be used on that rom, as it's french, and not south korean. I would say try it, after you get the stock rom to re-flash yours if anything occurs. Don't be stuck like me, waiting for the h950 rom to appear, so I can fix my phone from being incapable of making calls. :crying::crying::crying:
Good luck!
So from what I understand, you tried it but your phone wasn't unlocked ?
Mine is free SIM so it should works... Unfortunately I couldn't find stock ROM for the F510L :crying:
I'm under the impression that even if it's unlocked prior to the flash, it would require another. I can't confirm nor deny this, but I would just wait until your specified stock is released on here.
Alright, I've found this but not sure if this is the entire ROM since it's named "system" and that's not a .kdz or even a .tot
I'll try to unzip it to see what it is exactly, and if it's my ROM, then I'll test the H955 ROM and let you know
So obviously it was just the "system" partition extracted and not the file dump that I need
Well, good effort at least. Eventually, you'll get your hands on it! Good luck.
Thx you sir, hope you'll find yours too
that's a good idea

Thanks. I was able to update to the H959 10D
However I now get the message 'CURRENT VERSION IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR USER' every time I boot. Doesn't seem to affect anything though. Does anyone have any idea what this means?
Surprisingly though even though this rom has no bloatware to me it's slower than the Rom I had previously (I had an f510S branded to SK TELECOM)
With my previous rom It would only disable cores 4, 7 when things heat up.. but with this firmware it also disables 5+6 as well.
If someone uploads a KDZ for the Korean model i'd probably go back... It seems that LG releases updates for the Korean model first as I was on 10i and could have updated to 15B while everyone else is on 10D and 10e.

Mine is a F510L branded to U+ but I'm stuck on 10e since I rooted my phone because the update is forbidden for rooted users even if I unroot my phone with SuperSU.
There is no F510S KDZ so far from what I know sorry
The H955 rom does not work at all on the f510s. I am not sure why
The flashing process goes perfectly, but for some reason there is no cellular service whatsoever.

I guess H955 and H959 don't have the same radio so no cellular service.
Some users got the 5.1.1 update for both F510S and F510L.. Hopefully they'll find a way dor sharing a .kdz with us

[XT1541] UK Vodafone to Retail GB stock, worth it?

I picked up an XT1541 from Vodafone, but I've unlocked it to use with another provider. I'm happy with stock Android for now, but I was considering flashing to the standard retail ROM (XT1541_OSPREY_RETGB_5.1.1_LPI23.72-47_cid7) as I don't need the Vodafone bloat. However as there doesn't actually appear to be much Vodafone stuff, I was wondering if it was really worth it at all.
I assume I would still get OTA updates, and I would get them faster on retail than staying with the Vodafone firmware?
You would be on the retail update channel , meaning faster updates

I did the same but was locked on o2, can you do me a favour and check something, when i originally flashed retgb firmware under system version in settings--> about phone it said something like; osprey_retgb.retgb.en.GB o2gb where on a standard retail gb 3rd gen the end would be retgb instead of o2gb, what does yours say?

No the phone can still be unlocked in the normal way, in fact I did this before flashing the retail ROM. The phone is definitely unlocked, I'm using a GiffGaff (O2) SIM in it now.

Android 6.0.1 Unknown Firmware

So I've been waiting a while for a firmware suitable for my phone, and not sure if I have. It matches my model (SM-G920F), but the carrier/country just says 'Unknown'.
Is it alright to flash an Unknown firmware onto my phone (Which is Unlocked)

All you have to do is flash the Stock Firmware onto it. (Usually it completely wipes your phone too, but for some reason it didn't wipe any of my stuff!)
you can flash XEF (France) or any 6.0.1 firmware including Vodafone ones, my G920F is also unlocked and flashed the first one that appeared...no problems

Thanks for the response. Is there a big difference between flashing the french one, than waiting for a United Kingdom one instead? If so what would the differences be between French and UK firmware?
the UK has two preinstalled Vodafone apps that i disabled via the debloater, the french one has no carrier preinstalled apps, i use the Vodafone one and I'm on Orange network and have no problems I'm too lazy to flash the french one, i was eager to get MM on my device and after installing all the apps i thought to keep the Vodafone one because it runs flawless i recommend a factory reset after flashing the firmware

Flashing stock rom with odin / sw rev. fail

Hi, I recently tried to get my phone unlocked. I watched the guy do it, he flashed an older modem and then flashed a UAE firmware.
My original is O2 UK, and I'd like to revert to this firmware as the About Device section shows up with Unted Arab Emirates and the mobile networks section shows LTE rather than 4G.
I have tried flashing the latest revision of the O2 stock rom and odin fails attempting to write sboot.bin with the error message SW Rev. fail (I don't recall the exact numbers after this) appearing on the phone.
I am guessing this is the secure boot loader, which I am aware you can't downgrade, but is there any way of flashing this stock rom since I know it is compatible with the phone?
Try to flash G920FXXU5DQA7 (CSC code:BTU)

You could possibly use smartswitch if you have the serial number of the phone which would download the default firmware that the phone came with if odin fails again
Yes i agree, smartswitch could be your best option.
Thanks for the suggestions. Tried Smart Switch, same error. It appears on the phone as sw rev. check fail.
What exactly is the problem here? Is it that the installed firmware has a newer bootloader than the most recent O2 firmware? In which case is there any way around it?

Yeah looks like this is a bootloader issue, it won't let you install a firmware which contains an older bootloader, only thing I can is to download the latest non branded UK firmware and see if that flashes.
I'm getting this error too with Device 4 Binary 3 but i didn't find the right firmware yet
I hope in Nougat release

Samsung updated their bootloaders to 4XX in September/October so you cant flash back an older one or downgrade,so the only solution you have is to flash the new one which is 5XX released this year.
