[Q] Caller ID not working

I am having a tough time figuring out the phone settings on my Nexus 5. My caller ID does not show up on outgoing calls. When I first looked for settings I found Google Caller ID which is on and no other settings. When I turned Google caller ID off all the other setting I am familiar with appeared. When I hit advanced options caller id is greyed out and finally says network or Sim card error. What am I doing wrong.

I think this is normally a function of your carrier. What shows up on caller id when I call out is determined by what I set on my carrier web site (AT&T) not anything on the phone.

In Cyanogen-mod I've always had an option to either show Caller ID all the time or Use Carrier settings. I found that in some areas with the AT&T settings caller ID would not show, although it did most of the time. With Show Caller ID checked instead it always showed. I've used CM for so long I really don't remember what stock looks like. Is this just a CM feature?

Caller ID for forwarded calls

Let's say I have a fixed line phone, say 2xxxxxxx1. I have set this phone to forward all calls to my Moto G, say 9xxxxxxxx2. Now whenever I receive a call that was forwarded, I see two numbers in the caller Id. Say the original caller was 9xxxxxxxx3, then I see the caller id as 9xxxxxxxx32xxxxxxx1, i.e. the actual caller's number, appended by the number that forwarded the call to me.
I understand this can be a great feature to know the actual caller and the forwarder. But, it does not go well with the contacts and apps like True Caller. Also It becomes a pain to quickly save the received call to contacts.
Is there a way I could completely get rid of the forwarder's details from the caller id? Does it happen on all android phones? Is it specific to Moto G, or the OS it is running? Can it be carrier specific? Does anybody know an app that could override the default phone app and provides what I want?
PS: I am having a Moto G Dual Sim in India, running one SIM on Loop carrier, same issue when I tried a Tata carrier. The fixed land line that forwards to my Moto G is run by MTNL

Incoming and outgoing calls are shown as "Unkown" (Custom ROM and living abroad)

Incoming and outgoing calls are shown as "Unkown" (Custom ROM and living abroad)
I recently installed the Exodus Rom on my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5 and then moved to Mongolia.
Now, all of my incoming and outgoing calls are listed as "Unknown"
I believe I fixed this in the past with another phone and it was very simple, but I just can't remember how I did it. Any advice?
PS I really enjoy the Exodus Rom
I read that fixing permissions may help..... but couldn't that also mess up my phone?
Anyone? I know this is a common problem, but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere.
Seems to be a service provider problem. Either you are not being sent the caller id, or your phone is unable to read the send id.
Had a similar problem when i moved to Germany from India and calling up the service provider solved the problem..they activated the "show caller id" which was not activated due to some reason.
Call the service provider and tell them your problem...it most likely will be solved. Let me know if it does

Actually, If I don't use a CM based mod it works fine... It is only on CM based mods. I went to a service provider store and they punched in a code... but it didn't fix it. They were confused and told me I should have my phone fixed.
