[Q] Bike Mount Compatible with Note 4 ? - Galaxy Note 4 Accessories

Can someone recommend a bike mount compatible note 4, preferably under 20$ ?
I bought this one from Ebay, but the phone fell twice. The mount itself is very sturdy, but phone grip is poor. Fortunately the phone was inside Samsung protective case, so no harm done.
Many bike mounts are not big enough for large phones like note 4, so looking for suggestion if anybody is using a good quality one, which can hold the phone securely even on bumpy roads.

I've been looking for one too, and there are options on Amazon, but I'm considering just fab-ing my own with some metal I've got lying around.

Seidio:
http://www.seidioonline.com/hl4-holster-bike-mount-p/mb1-hl4.htm
But you'd have to be using one of their case/holster combinations, or get the holster for the caseless Note 4:
http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung-galaxy-note-4-spring-clip-holster-black-p/hlssgt4as.htm
and assuming you'd want the phone 'face out' you'd need to check that it can be secured in the holster that way round, as I believe these are designed for 'face in' usage.

Seidio is pure garbage. I had their Convert case w/ belt clip holster and the holster detached from the belt clip at the slightest pressure falling to the ground. Seidio Customer Service stated it was due to the size of the N4, funny I have no such problems w/ my Otterbox Defender. The Convert case itself is pure garbage too, the rubber outercover that goes over the Surface case is designed so poorly designed every time you use the fingerprint scanner it moves off the lip of the phone & the composition of the way too soft rubber is a dirt/lint magnet.
As far as buying anything from Seidio's online store read the thread I started about it. Worst experience I've ever had by far purchasing anything online. I paid for the freight to send back my Convert Add On Kit & Seidio refunded zero so now I have to initiate a chargeback w/ the bank that issued the credit card used to pay for it. And that was after I jumped through all the hoops they require to return something and after they issued an RMA.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/accessories/dont-want-to-buy-seidios-webstore-t3036913
Seidio has pure garbage products & the worst imaginable customer treatment and hassle to try to return something.
I used this Arkon Mega Grip in my car for several years/phones (incl. N4) and they make a bike mount for it. I can't vouch for the bike mount but I can say the spring loaded Mega Grip arms do hold the phone securely & I would think the elastic bungee would make certain the phone stays on the mount. It will be cheaper on Amazon.

I use one of these on my motorcycle
http://www.slipgripcarmounts.com/

I have always used the German made Herbert Richter brand of car holders. They are well made and last forever though I have never used their bike mount

After trying couple of them from from Ebay, I decided to make one of my own using some plastic and parts salvaged from the ebay ones.
It looks a bit ugly but does its job.

Seriously though that is awesome job dude. I'm thinking of making my own as well because all the other ones just don't look that safe to me for mountain biking.

I didn't see it that way before, but now that you mentioned, it looks a lot something like that.
I feel a lot safer biking with this one. I dropped my phone twice with other commercial mounts.

although they have been sold out for a while, this one from amazon works really well. i've fallen off my road bike 3 times and it held up 100%. the case is easily detachable. and touch screen works well with the clear cover.
the only thing i wish it did, was to have a slot for the light sensor so that i can answer phone calls on speakerphone and not have the screen always go black. besides that, it's great.

I use this one:
http://www.amazon.com/GreatShield-Clip-Grip-Handlebar-BlackBerry-Smartphones/dp/B00FA892IS/
Don't ride a very rough route to work but have not had my phone fall out. I also have just a flip case on the phone.

Slip Grip is the best, I have used them since my Droid Incredible days. They are custom molded to each phone and each case available for it. If the case is not listed email them and they will let you know which one has the precise dimensions to fit like a glove.
Slip Grip Galaxy Note 4
Note: I am paranoid and still use a bit of velcro to double secure the phone when mountain biking.

Here is a pic of my setup

I use my note with the samsung original protective cover http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-Protective-Cover/dp/B00NP3K8Y2 and I'm looking for a better option than the ones I have (see below). The Ibera case seems large enough, but its still sold out and I can´t find in any of the amazon European locations - but it does seem like a very good option.
I have something like this, which works well, but ist as little on the tight side.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bicycle-Fro...amsung-/201295830059?var=&hash=item2ede2a9c2b
and recently bought this, but this case is tighter than the pannier bag, so I'll be selling it
http://www.ebay.com/itm/360-Waterpr...Phones-/181813369752?var=&hash=item2a54ebdb98

I use the topeak 6" drybag
http://www.topeak.com/products/bags/smartphone_drybag_6in_bk
Fully waterproof, allows use of the screen, power button and home button. Also allows me to keep my phone in the Spigen slim armour case inside the drybag. There are several fixing types available, I've got mine strapped to the stem with the fixing which came with the bag.

Been looking for similar products. Thanks for these product ideas!

Why don't these cases cover the top of the phone! Is there like a reason for this?! I mean seriously, the phone can fall out, you can drop it on its top, what would make them leave the top part of the phone un-protected and cover the rest of it -_-'

I guess you can see the upper part of the phone so you can take it out with your fingers.
The pouch is only on the phone when you are not using it i.e. pocket, handbag & anyway when you are not using it what the % anyway the chance that its going fall on the upper visible side of the phone.
the only concern is that the pouch has a magnetics...which might mess up you compass.

I don't think the magnet is strong enough to mess up the compass
Sorry too junior to post a link but what about the pull-tab leather holster from shop.brando.com ( use find product on the home page ).
magnets will screw with your compass. I had an N1 holster with magnetic
lid closure. I tested first. Started with the compass app on, with the phone
front of me like normal and held the holster at arms length, and slowly brought
it closer. At about 2 1/2 ft, the compass needle started deflecting, and got
much worse as I brought the holster closer. Got my money back.
I've also had two of my bank payments cards destroyed by magnets on the phone-holster....The magnet-stripe on the cards couldn't take it when I accidently put the phone and card in same pocket....
(of course the chip on the cards is more widely used now, instead of the stripe, but...)

What is wrong with it specifically? How is the quality and fit?
I'm looking for a nicer case than the stock one, mostly to protect it from my keys. I don't really mind if the compass doesn't work when I'm not using the phone.
If this isn't it, does anyone else have a recommendation for a quality N1 case under $40?
I want a real friggin' pouch with leather carved of Virginian grown cows with the Android logo iron-burned into the leather and smooth innside lining.. I would pay top $$$ for one.
None of that fake syntethic leather stuff.. i want to spoil my Nexus..
Somthing like this: http://www.senacases.com/google/htc-google-nexus-one-cases/
I ordered http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_11000884&products_id=28053
Looks classy and nice, even though it won't have a flip i hope it will fit it tight enough. Still, i want a cow pouch and would kill for one..
I have the sena flip case with the magnets. It does not affect the compass when the flip part of it is open or flipped backwards under the phone. If you go to flip it closed the needle will twirl as you pass the magnets over the top of the phone. That's the only time though. Nothing while it's in the case.
I hated the case at first. Couldn't grab the pull down bar at the top of the phone. After breaking it in for a week it was no problem.

I've always liked Sena cases. VERY high quality stuff. I two in the past, one for my HTC 8125 and one for my Blackjack II. Never ended up getting one for my Tilt 2, though. I play on getting the Ultraslim soon for my Nexus One.
You can tell these manufacturers do not use a cell phone.
These cases NEVER have a hole for the speaker. With the nexus speaker being so low I can only imagine how those cases will muffle the sound.
I always end up cutting a hole myself, but WHY don't they do that themselves? Would be very easy for them, than we can hear ringtones and music with no problem!

Yeah it is sweet but I gave it away because I use the chrome snap-on case from Case-mate and it would fit anymore now I have to use the pouch that came with the phone which I love anyways. When it comes to the Snap-ons I've bought almost all of them even the new one from Incipio and they are all pure crap except the one from Case-mate I give it a 9/10. Also I submitted a review for that case 5 stars but for some reason they didn't accept it.

There is the original HTC pouch for the Desire. This should work great with the Nexus.

[Q] holster suggestions?

Hi all -
when I bought my Fascinate, I got the VZW holster/case combo. Unfortunately, I've gone through 3 of them because the belt clip breaks. The last time I went into the VZW store, they said they wouldn't do another replacement, so I'm looking for a good replacement. Suggestions?
Never buy anything from verizon but phones...there are a lot of solid holsters from official Samsung accessories, so look for the model you like, and go search for the same but cheaper one on Amazon or eBay.

no luck on Samsung's site....what's the general consensus about Seidio or OtterBox? Are they THAT much more robust than the competitor products? Specifically, how solid are the belt clips? I don't mind spending $50 once, but having the thing break after 2-3 months is a no-go!
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/hlssfasas.htm
Thanks Nunyazz....any comment on the questions I posed?
I've had that holster since they began offering it. It fits very snug and is very slim fitting. Fits very close to your side and rotates if needed. I love it. I had the "naked" holsters from them for the past 4 or 5 phones that I've owned.
Picked up a Seidio from Best Buy on Friday...we'll see how it holds up!
Thanks for the feedback guys
Does anyone know if theres an outward facing holster?
I just posted on this in the bike mount mod thread in the same forums:
I use the Otter Box defender case/clip combo. The clip can be used either way, with the screen facing in (very protected) or with it facing out(to use like a dock). On top of that the clip piece locks into full open position, allowing you to use it as a stand. Handy if you want to sit on the desk and have it maintain orientation, and also when using an alarm clock.
The case itself is also pretty resilient. I work for GeekSquad, and after hours one night I literally threw my phone across the 20,000sqft store to see how the case would hold up. No damages at all. Brilliant.
Another cool feature is the non slip silicone outer layer. When I am rolling around in my Jeep, I can plug the phone into my audio aux in, and throw it onto a seat or the center console, and it never slips around.
I know I probably sound like a crazed fanboy, but I am very impressed with the case/clip and have had it for about a month.
I would post a link but apparently I cannot until I make eight posts. Google Otterbox, their site is easy enough to navigate.

I bought mine from Amazon. Very nice and sturdy, and only cost me $8. The brand escapes my mind right now, but just search Fascinate Holster and it's like the first or second one on the list.
Sent from my Samsung Fascinate using Tapatalk.
I've purchased 4 of these for the 4 Fascinates my family and I have. They are great and we have no complaints. My son it pretty rough on his stuff and it has held up thus far. We got them in November.
I find it easy to slide thee phone in and out of, and it give the phone a bit more bulk and texture.
Look up the "Superior OEM for Samsung i500 Fascinate Shell Holster Combo Pack" on Amazon. This forum will not let me post a link for some reason. They are less than $10.

That's the one I have. I've had it for a few months now and I love it. Couldn't stand putting my phone in my pocket, I had to have the holster.
Had the OEM one for a year now and just a about 2 months ago busted the clip off, but i can still snap it back together, which has gotten be this far but the silly thing keep snapping off at the slightest touch...
will have to try out that naked carrier next
tried a little while carrying the phone in my pocket, fits nicely into the carpenter pants slot on the right leg side, but not so nice in any other pocket
I use a Comp-Tac M-TAC holster for my daily carry... oh wait, you mean phone?
Cargo pocket on my pants/shorts.

Exogear Exomount (Universal Car Phone Holder)

I purchased one of these to hold my phone and was sick of changing mounts every time i got a new phone.
http://www.exogear.com/products-exomount-car-mount-holder.html
Its basically a normal suction mount with a little bit of a sticky surface that does not come off on anything. The DHD fits fine and i haven’t had it fly off or wobble as i am driving or turning (and yes i turn sharp at high speeds).
This is probably (apart from a proclip) one of the best universal mounts i have used. The proclip is my choice as its solid and fixed but requires work, this on the other hand is my second choice as i can stick it anywhere in my car and have it suck down without leaving a mark and not have to mess around changing clips.
Features:
•Exomount’s patented suction technology enables you to mount on almost any flat surface such as car dashes, glass, wood, metal,
plastics and even drywall!
•Polyurethane lined grip keeps your phone or GPS safe and secure
•Quickly and easily mount and unmount your phone or GPS with our stylish clip grip holder
•Mounts all smart phones and GPS devices up to 5-inch screens
•Multi-angle rotation for your preferred viewing angle
cheers for the thread
does anyone use this with an otterbox (or similar) case? I'm thinking of buying one of these as there is zero options available for a DHD with a case
also any issues with the patented stick technology or whatever its called becoming not so grippy after x weeks/months?
Try slipgrip mounts for otterbox cases. You can find it on ebay also.

Non mine is still sticky now, i don’t think it is supposed to be super sticky as the gel and stick i think improves the suction. I just purchased another because they are pretty good and it doesnt need to be on a flat surface to work at all.
I've read that vibration might be an issue... we have very bumpy roads where I'm at so I wouldn't like it to be all over the place...
Any further info about this please?

I think there is a video review which says this but i have tried this on a Samsung Galaxy S2, Iphone4,Desire HD and Sensation and it is perfectly fine on bumpy roads. The clamp is strong enough to hold it. You will get the same jigger on say a tomtom or any other mount.
The reason why the clamp is the size it is, so when holding onto phones it doesnt press any buttons on the side of the phone.
Quality isnt that bad for its price and i would think its the best universal mount i have used in a car, i have used many mounts but this one has lasted the longest and seems very promising.
You can even rotate it and mount a tablet in your car!
I have ordered mine from eBay.. will post report as soon as I receive the delivery...
Sent from my Desire HD
I'm a new user of it too, and love it !
Question for you:
Since my dash is not completely straight so I can't put it there (even so it lasts about 1 day), I'm putting it on the windshield, but the arm is so short that I can't find a good place for it.
I put it meanwhile just a lil bit below the mirror, but on a way that the top of the phone is kinda behind the mirror, otherwise its too far and too hard to reach it.
I tried many other places but none was good enough.
Its or too far or blocking the road.. :\
Where do you put it? and where do you suggest me to put?
Thanks,
Yarden.
what a piece of junk! i tried it last night and couldn't find ANY spots in my car (newish 2004) where it would stick! I haven't tried the windshield yet. It literally would stay in place a few seconds then fall. did anyone else get this? perghaps i installed it wrong. is it just a case of taking the white ring protector off the stick part then putting on a surface? or did i not do something?
I wonder how safe this would be if mounted on dash and you break suddenly.

Try Herbert Richter universal mounts if you're still after an option to use with otterbox case.
I've had mine for several weeks now.
It sticks everywhere.
I use mine with a Otterbox Commuter Case and it fits well.
Vibration is a small issue, though.
the Herbert Richter universal mounts is bulky with the arm, the exo gear mount is good btu if the clamp had a few extras to secure it better it would be 10/10

yes. take the white protector bit off, its that sticky bit that helps it stay stuck to the surface, im surprised the suction bit worked at all with that thing still on lol

The quality feels like it is kinda flimsy, but after using it, it feels tough.. i used to be kinda careful with it but these days i just grab and twist it and it definitely doesn't feel like it's gonna fall apart.
The ball bit that it rotates on did get a bit dirty on mine and it got quite hard to rotate it, but just clean the bit of it you can see (no need to take apart) and then it should be all good again. That's only happened once to me, and i literally just wiped with a dry finger and wiggled it about a bit and its fine again.
I was JUUUUST about to buy one, but because I live in Australia, shipping + handling is $49 alone!

I do not mind if you send me cash paypal etc to handle the purchase and shipping for you? If you like i can weigh the actual device (without packaging) which will make it cheaper and price up on royalmail web site air mail signed for etc?
Got one of those
I got the exogear holder about a month ago, and i can recommend it to anyone.
Sticks nice to many surfaces, the phone is not slipping down, can be used with a phone of any size (or a gps device)
The only down side is that you have to use both hands to place your phone into the holder.
so it holds the note fine ?

[Q] Arm band case for the gym?

Are there any arm band cases for the Sensation yet? I hate putting my phone in my pocket at the gym, and lately I've been leaving it in the locker, but I hate the music they play there.
I saw Motorola has a universal one, but it covers the touch screen.
Any ideas or suggestions? There seems to be a lot of universal cases.
bad idea in my opinion. I repair electronics for a living. Salt water damage is a tough fix, (sweat) - i have always been against wearable electronics for this reason. the dtr(duration til failure) is increased exponentially when used in active environments.
I sweat like a faucet when i exercise. and unless the case is waterproof, i wouldn't risk it.
I have used one bought from Ebay. It was about 6$ and does it's job well. Unfortunately it ripped once I was trying to take my phone off. So if you wanna just disposable item bought one like mine or find item with better quality.
Can't post the link for mine because I'm new user.
Arkon's XL-Armband fits the Sensation. I have one with the Incipio NGP case and it fits with the case on.
We designed the armband to fit most phones with screen sizes from 3.7" - 4.3". I've tested it with the Sensation as seen above, Thunderbolt (with TPU case), Droid 3, Droid X 2 and a couple others and they fit.

I bought the Tune Belt armband from amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003ZJGZ8O
I was a little worried about it fitting before I got it, but it fits perfectly. It is comfortable to wear. I use it for running. I have worn it for a few 10 mile runs and a bunch of shorter runs without any problems at all. The touch screen can be used through the plastic cover and you can plug the headphones in easily. it slides down inside and the flap covers the top to keep it from ever falling out. It is about 23.00 after shipping, but it is well worth it. I have used cheaper ones, but the plastic always cracks and they never fit quite right.
Awesome. Thanks for the input guys.

I don't sweat that much, actually. (Which is odd because I go through a lot of water.)
I figure these things are sweat-proof from the bottom, in the first place though.

I'm thinking of replacing my current Samsung Book Cover case with the Otterbox Defender series case on my Note 8. My experience with the Defender series is great, it's a great case on smaller devices but I want to know what it's like on this device. This particular case has a built-in hinge, sleeve, and screen protector. If anybody is using/has used this case, please let me know how it is.
Here's a link: http://www.otterbox.com/Galaxy-Note-8-Defender-Series-Case/sam2-galaxy-note-8,default,pd.html?dwvar_sam2-galaxy-note-8_color=20&start=2&cgid=samsung-galaxy-note-8-cases
Best investments I made for my Note 2.0 and my Note 8.0. I got the glacier color to match my phone case. The protector sleeve is actually pretty nice. Sorry I am at work and can't post photos. When the tablet is in my day bag and with the protector over the screen I am 100% sure that nothing witll happen to the screen. The hinge is actually in the "sleeve" and allows the tablet to be stood up straight or at an angle for whatever view you prefer. Someone mentioned that there is no SD card accedd but I bought the Samsung USB adapter that plugs into the power cord slot and I run my 1 TB Passport external drive off that to watch movies, view and save documents and even listen to over 10000 songs I have saved on it. Only down side to that accessory is that it SUCKS the battery life. If I could find a splitter where it is charging and using the TB drive I will be set. The case is a lil wider than the Gumdrop and a few ounces heavier but its not too noticeable.Other than not being waterpoof this is by far the most protective case out there for the Note 8.0. I went from the Samsung "book" cover type, then bought the Gumdrop case thinking that was the best one out there but if I would have just waited about 3 weeks I could have saved $65 but oh well. So if anyone wants either one I will sell them dirt cheap. I would say buy it because you will not be disappointed.
Cheers
I just received my OBD today! I was so excited to get it installed onto my 8...the thing is like a virtual tank now!
Had official bookcover on it previously. I would have never bought one but it was a freebie with my purchase. I liked how the cover sort of flipped over onto the screen, almost like it was magnetized. I never used it as a stand because I read that it make them not lie flat anymore. Also like the on/off feature, to which I am accustomed on my Note 2 via "Smart Cover" app. However, that case felt very flimsy. The top cover would slide around on the screen when closed, and give the impression it could slip right out of your hands when carrying it. Protection from a drop? I doubt it! Liked the slim form but having children and a daily commute to and from work, throwing it in my handbag every day, or even taking it out at lunch to read or play a game...I was VERY paranoid and toted it around like a newborn!
If you don't want any added weight or girth to your tablet, then don't get the OBD. It does make it a bit bulkier, heavier, yes. But a HARD plastic screen cap that SNAPS into place when not in use? Awesome! Perfect for transporting in a bag or even just under your arm. Piece of mind, for sure. I'm not testing it out with any drops to be sure, but I'm pretty certain it would fair pretty well.
The outside rubber silicone shell was harder than I thought it would be. However, I think it seems like it would be more durable than a softer material. It's tough to disassemble, so that's also a plus that it won't just come apart on a whim. The built-in screen protector seems pretty decent. Clear as glass. It feels a bit funky with s-pen but it's not horrible. Just have to get used to it. It also seems just a tiny bit bowed (maybe it is just the one I got) so when you push down with the pen near the center you can feel it love ever so slightly towards the glass. Really, no big deal, and could just be mine. Gladly I overlook this for the extra insurance.
Love the rubberized side buttons and port covers. I think they are a definite plus to keep dust & such out. It's not waterproof but if water would get spilled nearby while sitting, or splashed from rain or whatever, it would definitely deflect some or all of it. Don't drop it in the fishtank or the toilet and you should be fine!
I'd be glad to answer any questions. I just got it today so I haven't used it too much yet, but I can tell I'm gonna love it!
Thanks for the feedback! I'm definitely going to get this case!
Awesome..!!
Well I too carry this case for my Note 8.0 and it has just made my Note a strong MACHO product....
I got this case for my Note 8 last week and I love it.
I had an Otterbox Commuter on my iPhone 4S: saved it on one occasion in particular that could have cost me a new phone. I also had the Otterbox Defender on my old iPad 2. Both the old iPhone and old iPad are still going strong for my special lady friend and look brand new thanks to Otterbox.
I now have the Otterbox Commuter on my S4, Defender on Note 8 and I'm waiting for my recently ordered iPad Mini Defender.
These are great products, especially if you are a bit rough with your stuff.
How does the s-pen respond to the screen protector on the OBD?

It feels....different. Not as smooth as on glass. You can definitely tell there is more "drag" as you're moving the spen across. I am not one of those super-picky people who complain about everything (lol) so it doesn't really bother me.
The thing I've noticed most about the sensitivity of the screen protector (in general) is that it makes the screen a bit less responsive. You must press a little longer (we're talking such a minute split second though, and I'm talking finger here) and more deliberately. This is caused, in my opinion, by the fact that the protector is not sucked fast to the glass underneath. I can feel mine move the tiniest bit when I press on it (because it is not adhered but simply sits on top) and that small bit d, of space between it and the screen provides a slight delay. Don't let that scare you. It's really not that bad. Of course, like I said, consider the source here (non-picky-person!!!!) I would rather have a well-protected device with a inconsequential difference in touch than a vulnerable, naked one! IMHO
Can you remove the screen protector like in other Otterbox cases?
Just got mine today. I don't think you can remove the screen without messing it up. Prepared to be told I'm wrong though.

We are going on vacation next month and I don't want to go with just the book cover case. I just ordered this and can't wait to get it.

So, after owning the Otterbox for 2 months and 9 days, both "tabs" on the side of the "sleeve" that hold the tablet on it have broke. I am by no means rough on this thing at all. Even with the tablet being in the case I am still super easy on it. Submitted an online warranty claim, Sent in a couple of pictures of the damage to Otterbox, they reviewed my claim and within 24 hours I have a replacement heading my way. So even though it broke, I am still 100% satisfied with their product and now with their warranty process. If you haven't gotten an Otterbox yet, I say get one.
Cheers
I have had mine a couple of weeks and I love it. I am glad to hear how responsive Otterbox is to replace it.

I finally received mine in the mail (1 month wait while overseas from OtterBox, BUT it was free shipping!) and I don't think I'd be happier with another brand. The rubber isn't super soft, nor does it attract lint. I don't think the rubber will stretch any time soon, it's pretty solid! Definitely happy with my purchase!
I'm moderately happy with the Defender on my Note 2 (screen protector isn't flush, rubber stretches) and an considering a Note 8. Anyone got any long term reviews on this case?
re: Defefender-Note 8
Mine has been fine, EXCEPT one of the little tabs broke off of the cover portion. Since it was less than a year, I contacted OtterBox to get a replacement. I had everything gathered beforehand...receipt, place I purchased it, etc...ended up that I didn't really need all that stuff. They just wanted pics documenting the damage, and they also asked for the batch number (probably for quality control purposes-it's imprinted in the rubber.) They sent out the replacement right away via FedEx, had it in a few days. Could not be happier with their EXCELLENT customer service. I'm sure if you did have issues, they would be able to address them with you. Oh, and the rep on the phone was super nice & VERY friendly. :good:
I have the poetic revolution and i couldnt be happier. Its just as solid as the otterbox but only 30$ usd 3 year warranty it took to days from amazon..its feels premium protects well ...
