Why my phone doesnt charge?? - Xiaomi Mi 4i

This is my 3rd replacement from fk but still same problem, the phone doesnt charge when kept in charging with somewhat battery left, but charges properly when the battery goes null.
Observe the attached screenshot carefully, the phone suddenly goes awake and starts discharging battery instead of charging...plz try keeping phone to charge when battery is below 20%

Could be a software bug. What firmware are you on?
How much does it charge while the phone is switched off?

Yes its surely a software bug bcoz sometimes it happens and whenever i drain battery completely then this issue never occured. And when some battery left the phone disconnects from charging at 50% and in device information also it shows dischargimg

First thing I did was update the OS when I got the phone. Your problem never occurred to me. Have you tried searching for a software update?
And what firmware are you on bro?

Powered Off / Battery Drain COMPLETE

I have now had this problem twice this week. I have read other posts that sound similar but the issue seems different.
Twice I have shut down my phone at night. With FULL battery. The next morning, I could not turn the phone on. It would vibrate when I hit power button but not come on at all.
Both times I plugged it in and saw that the battery was COMPLETELY drained. I have seen threads where people post about some battery drain overnight, but this was an entire drain, with the phone off.
This is a major issue obviously as both times the next morning I was on the go and had zero battery life.
Any ideas of what this can be? Does it sound like a physical battery issue? Is the phone maybe not actually shutting down and getting caught in some battery draining process?
Help please.
The best way to test the shutdown issue is pulling the battery after it seems to shut down. Try pulling it for a few seconds and replacing it, but leaving the device off. If that produces the same result, try leaving the battery out overnight.
This seems to only be happening if I leave the battery in the phone.
It happened again last night. Complete drain.
Im not sure but I feel like there may have been a buzz as it turned itself off (not sure if its always there need to experiment further). I picked it up and hit buttons to make sure it wasnt just in standby. It wasnt. it was OFF.
Next morning, no battery.
Any ideas? Id love some help as this is becoming a pretty big problem for me.
Have you ruled out a hardware issue already? If not then call the carrier.

This actually happened to me a night before last as well - twas the first night running Smooth Ice 5.1. Are you on that by chance? Not knowledgeable enough to really comment on whether or not that could be it, but it'd be something to eliminate.
I switched to the new leak last night and the battery life has been excellent off charger all day, for what it's worth.
I am on stock everything.
I am still trying to diagnose the problem.
It seems that when I Power Off, occasionally at the end of the power done I will get a Vibrate. When that happens, I think it is draining while switched off.
When the Power Down happens and I dont feel the vibrate, so far I have not experienced the drain.
Does that perhaps give anyone ideas about what might be happening? Some kind of locked in Process or App? Any likely culprits? Any diagnostics that can show, if it does drain, what drained it?
In the past when it drained I plugged it in to charge and checked battery stats, but it showed Display as the largest consumer. Does the About Battery stats reset each time you plug in and start charging?

It always vibrates when you power off, at least mine does.
The battery stats reset after a full charge has been achieved.
I have no idea what would be discharging it while off besides a bad battery.
Put the BetterBatteryStats application on there. The stock Battery Use GUI interface that is built into the firmware will not show you details enough, it will just show what application used the cpu for X amount and caused the battery to go down X amount.
Put BetterBatteryStats on there to find out what is causing the phone to get drained so quickly. Seems like its not going in deep sleep mode and there is some partial wakelock that is keeping the phone from going into deep sleep. That app will tell you what service or application is holding the largest wakelocks and amount of time it does it for. This helps to determine the issue. Without this, you are just speculating on the problem with the built in Battery Use stats/graph in the Status screen.

Something else I noticed...
Over the last few data, sometimes when I power down the phone, it goes through the powering down process usual, but as soon as its done, the phone vibrates and powers right back on...
Anyone experience this or an idea why that would happen?
Just a thought; If I'm charging my phone with a generic charger (500 mA) and shut it off, it will reboot.
If I'm charging with either the factory wall charger or a 12 volt that triggers AC charge it won't.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA
The reboot happens when I shut down and am not plugged in to a charger at all....
My galaxy S has been doing this too lately (loses all charge when off overnight). It always buzzes on shutdown.
One thing that mine has is a problem with the usb port, it slowly stopped working and now I can't charge it anymore through the port. I'm wondering if there is a physical short there that is causing the battery to drain. Possibly you have something similar going on, or a short elsewhere in the system.
I've noticed that you cannot shut the phone down when charging from certain chargers too, especially in the car. Very annoying.
Bump
Hey guys,
Im still having this issue and wanted to hear if there is a known fix or solution?
Honestly, the severity of battery drain you're describing sounds lije more of a hardware issue than anything else. I would contact yoir carrier as mentioned above. Beyond that, trying out a custom ics like sky or embryo might be your best bet if you prefer the tw interface. Im on embryo 5.1 right now and am experiencing better battery health and longevity than ever before with the skyrocket. But the issue does sound like a bad battery.

This happened to me on one of my i777s.
The phone would even not boot up. It will just vibrate. Turns out the battery was bad. Changed the battery. It was still the same.
Then tried another charger, same thing happened.
So then I changed the whole charging port part in the phone.
Voila! Phone worked like a charm.
So if you have warranty change the phone. If not change the charging port. At least in my case.
I came to a conclusion that even the battery went bad because of the bad charging. Might be a coincidence too.

I have 3 S2 phones that I bought as defect and played around with. Two I could fix but I could not resolve the battery issue on the third phone like by buying a brandnew USB charger part (and trying the ones from the other 2 phones. It has nothing to do with the ROM or anything software either. I narrowed it down to be an issue on the actual mainboard. The weird thing is that the battery discharges way faster when the phone is turned off than when it's in use.

[Q] Battery issue.

I have a strange battery issue in my phone. My phone switches off at 5% or sometimes even at 12%. When I restart, It shows 0%. Anyone else also facing similar problem?
Anyone with a solution?

Hell yea!! Even i have the same problem... It goes off at 5% and restarts with 0% battery remaining....
Maybe v should both try a battery calibrating app from play store..
It is completely normal to happen. Depending on the surrounding the phone is kept in it switches off automatically to conserve battery drain, so it can happen anytime when phone reaches low battery or critical state. It is the device's method to prevent battery drain as a draining battery can completely destroy the battery and the mobile, so dont worry make sure power saving is on and keep your phone charging

Yes!
The level at which the phone will get off depends on how you are using and your nearby surroundings, if its too hot or too cold it will go off soon, also if you are using net and gps or any other battery consuming operation it will be off sooner than you think, I am too on stock and sometimes it does happens and sometimes not....
PS when you switch on your phone, it consumes some % of battery just like it happens when you start a car so it will go down a little bit.
Oh! I see!! Thanks for d info....
Thanks mate. That was really informative.

Hello,
Can you please elaborate issue?

More in depth description of the problem
I Purchased a NOTE EDGE Used about 2 weeks ago, I was told the problem was a generic battery causing the phone to overheat, I bought A New battery which somewhat solved the overheating problem however upon using the phone even with a new battery I noticed there still is significant battery drain in a short time. Also When the phone is completely off the battery still drains at a fast rate, If plugged in the battery doesn't die but charges extremely slowly even with a rapid charger and rapid charge activated. Another Issue that I have is when I remove the battery the phone will not turn back on once its back inside unless plugged in and when I connect by usb to the computer it shows connected on the phone and on the computer but in programs such as Odin it doesn't show up unless I remove and re install the battery multiple times I've done all I can think of to fix this ( bought a new battery, tried re flashing the firmware, Shut off all unused apps and turned off all data Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, dimmed the screen, battery saver etc.. ) the phone drains regardless even when phone is completely powered down.

After I updated to 6.0.1 update on my note edge , once the battery reaches 49% it just turns off , it doesn't turn on , while I put it for recharge the battery charge shows 49% and it turns on.
I have done 3 factory resets still the problem arise. I did factory reset to clear cache and to clear any errors in apps. This is my primary phone for work and I need to carry power bank all the time. Please assist
Time to change the battery. It is not about the percentage of the battery. It is more about that the voltage breaking. As it seems the battery can not longer hold its voltage due to battery age. When the voltage breaks, the device will automatically shut down to due low voltage

the only solution i see is to stop buying original battery replacment since it might not be the issue , rather slap a zerolemon 9000 mah battery on , it looks like a tank but at least the battery last lol.
Im still having trouble with mines too, injust dont understand why phone is draining battery while off and fast . You ciuld feel the heat off the phone while off...
Maybe you should try to get an extended battery pack? here's what i tried - so far so good! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i70xqUNoYVE

Charging Problem

It has been just 20 days, and I have just realised that there is a charging problem with my Honor View 10.
At night, when I turn off my phone and put on charge, the phone starts charging but in the morning i. e arnd after 7 hours I see that the battery is around 70% and still its shows that its charging but actually the battery is draining because after sometime when I check it again the battery is like 68% or so and it still shows charging P. S in whole process the phone is switched off and this happens every time (around 6 to 7 times). And I am using the same charger that came with the phone. Phone is updated to the latest firmware.
I have done the factory reset but still the same problem persists.
Please you guys check and let me know if anyone else is also suffering with same issue.

Better you should visit company service center or probably honor official forum for support from company... As far as I think it is your handset problem either check with ampere app from play store to see how much current it is taken when charging , so either your charging port is damaged , maybe charging IC or maybe battery issue... Not sure though..

Apr 2018.. Same charging issue. Shows fast charging but doesn't
This post is from Feb and I bought this phone now in Apr. I am facing the same issue. The fast charging lasted for a day and then it is very slow.. Max 750mah measured via Ampere app. Earlier it used to be excess of 2500mah when it was fast charging.
Have you find any solution to this issue?

Poco f2 pro charge only to 89%

Hello guys,i bought poco f2 pro global a week ago.My problem is the follow:
When i put my phone for charging the process go to 89% and freeze there.if i disconnect and connect again the charger then its make it 100%!?u can wait 5 h but no more than 89%.
Its very anoyning ,coz when i got to bed i put the phone on charge and at the morning i get it on 89%.
Factory reset didn't solve it.Any ideas?thx
Try draining the battery to 0%, then let it charge uninterrupted and see if that helps..
Hi if you've seen some of my posts. I got a Poco F2 Pro and on the second day it started showing 1% battery charge all the time. As well as an overheating issue and would close the camera after 5 seconds. Not sure what I did other than turned it off and let it charge a few times. For no known reason it started working fine. That was a week ago, so haven't had the problem occur since.
I'd check while the phone is off what the battery level shows as. If it still shows 89% it might be more serious, otherwise could be a bug

ITs not uncommon a miss-calibrated battery. Make a full discharge, wait all the time until your phone is power off. Once completely drained, try (without charger) power on some times, to be completely sure is totally death. Now, make a complete Full cicle. This time, the phone should reach 100%
Thank you all for the suggestions. I discharged the battery to 0 %,then plug it again and the result was 92%.So no luck..I really hope that this is software bug and will be fixed with miui 12 .Will be very unlucky if my unit is defective.the phone is a week old .what do you think,if i download the present software and flash it , maybe that's will help?

This so called "calibration of the battery" is total BS.
At every boot with at least the latest 4 Android versions it will "calibrate" itself and nothing one can do about it to "trigger calibration" or that kind of stuff.
When the battery won't charge beyond 89% something else is causing it, faulty battery or software related.
Did you unlock your device or is it still locked?
When locked try to manually download the whole rom new from the update menu and reflash it.
Then check if it charges correct of not.

Some devices that I have seen with the same behavior would not think the same as you, obviously with a healthy battery. A bad battery can behave abnormally too, but I doubt that is the case.
And yes, it can be called a ... "calibration", although nothing to do with the supposed magic cures of deleting the battery statistics file. What happens is not that % battery is lost or that the battery is not fully charged. In fact, if the battery is fully charged, it is the count that fails. This is perfectly evident, when the phone reaches 1% it stays in that% much longer than usual, because the phone really did not have 78% (for example) and is not full drained yet. Once the battery is completely drained, the margins are recalculated correctly again. It is not a bad battery that is not fully charged, it is fully charged, what happens is that the battery reports incorrect data due to a "calibration" mismatch.
In any case, the partner will be able to tell us perfectly if it worked, or not . I repeat, there are many phones that I have seen with this behavior and many that have returned to their being. It is clear that if the battery is bad it will continue to be bad. It has happened to me in the past with a pair of Xiaomi phones, the last one a Redmi 6, is not uncommon
