my device run on jellybean 4.2.2. Is their any way to replace system apps? can i delete
system apps .

Hi there,
Before doing anything to your system do a full backup. You must have root for any modifications of system apps and give the right permissions.
About what device/firmware/ROM are we talking about?
Thanks

[Q] what is the process for upgrade pre-installed app?

Hi,
In my understand, the pre-installed apps are placed on path /system/app, and the /system partition should be read-only partition without rooted, right?
So how the pre-installed apps can be upgraded?
For example, the pre-installed Google Maps app can be updated from Android Market. How it can replace the old Google Maps app with a new one on /system/app? What is the process?
Can someone help me to understand it?
They're installed normally to /data/app, then system uses them instead of files from /system/app. You could have checked this out by yourself.
what is the details about Google maps upgrade?
Hi, Brut
Thank you.
But could you please explain more details? I'm using Motorola ME600, no built-in Google Maps and Android Market. I can't check it by myself.
If the updated apps are installed in /data/app, how can they do that? I mean they should not be installed successfully if the updated apps used the same package name as the olds. It should fail due to the old one still exist. And how about the signature of updated app? Should it same as the old one?
Even the update apps can be installed, how does the system use them to replace the built-ins? I think we should find 2 icons in the Lanucher if they have same main entry. But in fact, there is only one icon. Why?
PS: Sorry, I have no way to find the details by myself. Please give me a hand. Thanks in advance.
I think Android OS treats system apps differently. It knows these apps can't be overwritten directly, so it uses above technique for updating them. It permits to have these apps installed twice and then it ignores system ones. Of course both files have to be signed by the same key.
If you have root, then you could check this by yourself without Market or Maps.
Remount /system .
If you have 0 free space on this partition, then remove something to have at least 100KB.
Create empty app, build it and sign.
"adb push YourApp.apk /system/app/" - Android OS should detect this and install your app. You could see this in the logcat.
"adb install -r YourApp.apk" - Android will install it to /data and use it instead of version installed to /system .
Maybe Android not always prefers /data app, but one with greater versionCode. I don't know, didn't test this.
Thanks, Brut
I followed your suggestion and tried. Yes, system replace the /system one with /data one.
Thank you help me to know this behavior of Android system.

App update problem...

hi,
i have a new problem that start in the last few days ,from some reason i can't install new apps and update existing apps- its say: "update unsuccessful" after its download the update and try to install it.
i also tried to delete some apps in order to get some more free space and now i have 50Mb but i still have the same problem.
please advice,
Hello friend , i want to help you out but I'm in the dark, you didn't mention witch app you can't update and if you use a custom rom or stock rom.
Whatsoever IF you can't update an application that was included in your rom and you using a custom rom most of the times they cannot be updated or uninstalled. The best way is to ask your rom's developer to update the rom with the newest versions of the applications you want. Another way (risky way) is to download titanium backup from market, this app gives you the option to uninstall apps builted in rom , after removing the app install the newest version one.
i must warn you uninstaling a builted in app may have bad result to the rom, i suggest a backup before trying this.
About your storage , does your rom has a2sd ? If yes you are OK unless you have really big number of installed apps cuz internal memory still saving a small amount of the apps data(i don't know exactly how it works).
I hope i helped you out and good luck with any decision you ull take.
First, thanks for your attention.
I have Cyanogen-6.1.0-N1-signed and app2sd app.
The apps that i tried to update are not built-in apps(lookout, sms backup...) and i also tried games but still i had the same error...i think i will try to uninstall the relevant apps and reinstall them maybe it will solve the problem...
Kindly check under the "CyanogenMod Settings" - > "Application Settings"
try to disable (uncheck) first the "Allow application moving" and make sure the "Install Location" is set to automatic or Internal..
Lets see if this fix your problem..
if nothing works, try the workaround i have detailed

Dont worry doing factory reset, just back up your data and apps using titanium backup and simply restore them after doing factory reset.

When the apps from the playstore install without problem, i'd say your installer is fine. I've encountered this problem as well, but only if I was using the wrong file/wrong file extension..
thanx a lot man!!
i backed up all my data and then did a factory reset with a rom and gaaps reflash...
all is working cool now!!

Hi there, m sure that yu tried to remove bloatware from your device or yu may have rooted ur phone. i would suggest to download and install adb driver and debloater applications in your pc first. after that open debloater app with phone connected to ur pc and begin to read files. there in the list of files you can see googleinstaller.apk which will have a tickmark. that means yu have removed that file in ur phone and so yu are facing this problem. untick and click apply and yu are good to go

My problem is specific with ES Explorer File PRO app in Android 10 too, and I solved this issue installing the "APK Installer by Uptodown" app from Google Play. It's free and no ads.
Maybe if we choose "certified installer" and marked as app "default" to open apk files and later we change manually to "package installer" in the file where that this choice was record, the ES Explorer File could use the package installer native of android to install apk files.

update system apps without reinstall

Hi friends today i want to share my discovery about system apps like google play, google play services and all google apps and stock apps. They are all continuesly update in new version. the new update is store in internal memory and may consume more ram and memory and obviously cause battery drain more fast. So here is the most accurate and simple method to make update apps into rom memory easily and whithout uninstall the apps.
First make update of system apps through google play.
Second make an apk file of the app through rom toolbox or any other software you like
3ed use x-plore or rom file manager and copy the updated apk file into system app folder or wher private app folder where the app is present and overwrite it.
4th restart or reboot phone
That's all the updated version will automatically install into rom
Problem solved
Thank you friends
very agge

Hello and Welcome to XDA-developers!
You can remove apps that are not required by system to run properly. Example apps are Email, File Manager, etc...
