[Q] Game Controllers? - Galaxy S6 Accessories

Anyone have advice on using a game controller with the phone? I'd really like to find something that has a clip to hold the phone while playing, too. Is bluetooth the way to go? Or just plugging in a USB controller?

If you have a PS3 controller laying around SixAxisPairTool is a great app. I've used it with my S3 & S5 to connect wired and wirelessly to my android phone. Not sure if its compatible with the S6 though. Other than that I dont have any knowledge of available gaming controllers.

You should be able to connect a ps4 controller without the need of the sixaxis pair app and all the buttons will be mapped. I'll try tonight when I get home.

What if I'm an Xbox person rather than a Playstation person?

What about this thing? http://smile.amazon.com/MOGA-Mobile...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1431450815&sr=1-1

Nice.

I had the MOGA and absolutely hated it. I forgot the exact reason, I wanna say it was something with the bluetooth pairing and lack of support, but it was a year or two ago. All I know is I won't give it another try any time soon.

Good to know. Thanks for the feedback. None of these things seem to have great reviews.

The PS3 controller worked best for me, considering I already had one laying around, it cost me exactly $0.

I only did a quick skim of the reviews because I'm not going to buy one, but it looks like all of the negative reviews are on apple devices.

Any Wii wireless classic controller work?

I know the Datel Retro Wireless controller works, it's been verified, but i believe from what i see at Amazon and Best Buy, it's sold out or discontinued.
I'd like to get something similar for a trip i'm taking, so my question is will any wireless Wii classic controller work for the Xoom? Or should it?
e.g. Amazon.com: Thrustmaster T-Wireless Gamepad for Nintendo Wii: Video Games

I am still waiting on my Xoom to arrive but on my Evo I use the official classic controller with analog sticks with the wiimote app and it works great. The only downside is that it has to be plugged into the wii remote as it isn't a stand-alone controller. This is why I am looking forward using my Xbox controllers now.
Isaac in Best Buy the other day and saw a wireless gamecube controller in the wii accessories section. Not sure if it would work, but worth checking into. I use the Datel controller, if you Google it you can still find it.
wireless gamecube controller dont work because they arent bluetooth. they have an adaptor that plugs into a gamecube port. Try to find the datel retro wireless, it's the best options. You can get them on datel.com. I bought mine from another xda'er.

That's the one. If you get it I would recommend going over to the "Xoom Accessories" forum and looking up the thread on the Datel controller. They discuss a must have mod for the controller to really work well.
Edit: Here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13018984&postcount=28 I did the mod myself, it was easy to do and made a noticable difference.

PSP as WIFI game controller for Android

PSP can be configure as a game controller for PC. I wonder if this can be done for Android.
This thread has been overlooked, this would be very nice for the psp homebrew scene and android app scene, for nonroot and root.
i doubt that it is possible a.t.m. due to ad hoc, although i may be wrong.
I began to be interested in this recently and I found this thread so im bumping it, also considering the time it might be worth mentioning that we are talking about old PSP, not vita. I know that developing for that PSP is pretty much non-existent but maybe it wont even be needed, there are lots of programs for PSP that turn it into wireless gamepad, someone skilled enough just needs to teach android how to work with it

[QUOT=cyclonmaster;18765970]PSP can be configure as a game controller for PC. I wonder if this can be done for Android.[/QUOTE]
i have a psp that i haven touch for overa year and i woud love to use it as a controller for one of my android tablets.
That would be pretty neat if you could! It should be possible with proper bluetooth configuration.. sense ive seen bluetooth controllers work on the android aswell as the android be used as a wireless keyboard for a pc.
Dont think you can.
Could be possible, someone a while ago already did something like this, but for the PC and PS3. It allowed the PSP to act as a SixAxis controller on the PS3, and a gamepad on PC.
Bump. I would really love to see something like this for Android, using OTG or Ad-hoc/Local Network.
would be phenomenal if someone could do that. I think there are quite a lot of us who have old PSP's just lying around somewhere collecting dust. Can't even remember when I last touched my PSP 2001. But if someone will be able to make these as controllers for android, even if just via OTG, then I'm pretty sure he/she will make a lot of games (and neglected PSP's) happy, myself included.
IMO, it's more feasible that it can be done via OTG. Just thinking of all the obstacles one has to face in making this idea work via wifi or ad-hoc makes my migraine act up.
Bump it up, we need this please!! Someone point us in the right direction if you know something, or if you are developing something. I have no idea how this could help with development, but there is already a working (yes, working) Psp emulator for Android and PC, so that could possibly help........hopefully.....maybe...... I'M SO DESPERATE!!!
This would be tops.
I wonder how hard it would be, since the psp can be used as a gamepad on a pc.
Presume it'd just need similar host software running on the phone, and then have the psp connect to the phone, just like it connects to the pc.
Bump, again

It works in usb mode with Fusa Gamepad and USB joystick center. The once thing you need to make it works is the "joydev.ko" module.

I have a PSP 1003 that really want to use with my nexus 6.

Someone PLEASE develop a way to make a controller work - Ill PAY YOU!

Probably one of the most frustrating things I'm dealing with is I just want to use a f-ing controller on this phone, like the playstation sixaxis!
When I bought the phone, I asked (mistake i know) the sales rep and the guy told me it was possible on the Charge, but not the Thunderbolt or Bionic, so it was a big selling point for me. Turns out, he was full of BS!
I've searched around and doesnt look to be possible. I'd LOVE to have a controller setup for this to play some of my favorite old school games. If you can get it to work, message me and I'll pay you to make it work!
Tell these guys you'll give them money, maybe they'll work for you:

Unfortunately because our phones have wacky bluetooth stacks, this may never work.
You can pair a PS3 controller with the Charge, I did it. Didn't spend a great deal of time looking for a game that it would work well with, but it did connect and communicate with my Charge. Search for sixaxis controller in the market.

Just tried the compatibility checker again and it seems to work but I don't have a usb cord to test with. App never used to work at all...
EDIT: Oh hell yes it works. Playing me some FFVII with it.
Now I just need to get a setup for micro hdmi -> dvi or vga and I'll have a pretty nice gaming/movie setup.
I honestly play most of my games on my phone now because my ps3 is broke and my laptop sucks. But it gives me a chance to play some older games how they were meant to be played with great functionality and performance....and this isn't even a dedicated gaming device

Thanks in advance!

I don't know about any usb controller, but I would think so. I have this controller and it works perfectly.

I've tried a few of the Logitech ones, the Wired 360 and a 3rd party adapter that connects a n64 controller and they all work.
Where it gets sticky is app compatibility. I know that GTA3 does not 100% work with the Logitech controllers (can't go forward in car). The n64 one may or may not work with anything other than emulators.
Figure out what you are going to use it for then do the research. One may be better than others for your specific purpose.
If I were to pick ONE to work with, it would be the wired 360 controller.
Thanks for your replies. I know that some games aren't standard compatable with gamepads/controllers but there's this app called 'Sixaxis Controller' that fixes this problem.
360 is to pricy for me. Found one for 15 bucks with good reviews.

which one???
I have some cheap USB controller. It works perfectly only in Sonic CD. Didn't yet tried sixaxis but it should definitely help.
Hooray for DealExtreme. But you get what you pay for, but the reviews are good compared to others.

Sixaxis is great, you can map parts of the touchscreen to certain buttons.

[Q] recommendations for bluetooth controller?

Hey all, I've seen posts about the different kinds of controllers people use on their tf300 for playing games with and have looked around but haven't been able to find any discussions on which one(s) people think work the best/recommendations. I've been interested in getting at least one (hopefully not spending more than $25-30) and was curious on people's opinions who have tried any of the different ones out there?
Any help at all would be appreciated and I wanted to apologize as well if this topic has already been covered in a thread that I might have missed.
Right now it seems like the $50 Moga pro is the best one

I use a PS3 controller with the six-axis app. i think it works nicely. So if you already have a PS3, you already have a controller. The six-axis app lets you hap touched on the screen to buttons on the controller for games that don't support game pads.
I actually ended up picking up the last two they had in stock of this controller from gamestop yesterday because I had ran across it online/seen the reviews and they were so inexpensive. I thought I could try them out at least to get an idea of how they'd be and worst case just return them but so far on the mupen64+ emulator they've been working without a hitch. they're light but don't necessarily feel that cheap surprisingly so I'm looking forward to trying them out on different games out there. oh and mapping out the controller wasn't any trouble at all either.
I think if I end up doing more gaming than I am right now with my tablet then I'll try to get a ps3 controller and use the six-axis app, thanks for both your answers. if anybody else has any other contributions to add as well feel free
