Galaxy S6 speed - slower than S4 ? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I upgrade from Galaxy S4 (stock Android 4.4.2, no root) to Galaxy S6 (stock Android 5.0.2, no root).
I try to do subjective comparison of how fast devices at my usual usage (like when you search on youtube "Samsung Galaxy S6 - Speed Comparison vs S5").
Both devices were restarted before test, had nearly same set of applications (updated), has Nova launcher and was in same wifi network.
I tried to do this things:
Open Opera and Chrome broswer, load several pages, close it.
Open facebook app, do different actions.
open and use camera
Open and use Gmail app, aCalendar app, some metheorological , public transport and maps apps.
And the result (subjective, but I tried to do it several times) is that speed of both phones seems very similar in many cases, something was faster in S6 - go to the home screen from apps, camera.
But many operations are faster on S4 - opening and operating facebook app, broswe web using Opera and also Chrome, maybe also opening and operating some other applications (first open and next laso), but broswing is most important for me.
Does anybody try to do similar test maybe with other older phone?
It is really strange, because performance of S6 should be more than two times better...
Maybe some crappy security feature (McAfee?) that checks loaded web pages and started applications?
Thanks.

Try both with disabled animations!

And for example in Vellamo web broswer benchmark has S6 better results than S4 significantly (2300 vs 3300), so bad experiences in real using will not be caused by processor/android version optimalization..

Hell no

Well we know Chrome is not optimized for the Exynos!

[Q] TW Gallery Replacement in and so on AOSP ROM

So this week I went ahead and flashed Liquid Smooth...overall I like a lot about the ROM. However, I have found a few things that I miss from the stock TW. Those things include:
The Gallery App - What I really miss is the ability to display social network photos (google and Facebook) and also easily use high quality versions of the pictures within my phone (ie. wallpapers).
Related to Gallery - The ability to view videos and pictures on my Co-Star (GTV) box at the push of a button when viewing on my phone. Instant big screen viewing...I miss it.
I know that TW apps such as the gallery and phone cannot be installed on AOSP...but does anyone have any suggestions on apps that may be able to replace those features? I have found Pictarine as a pretty good option for Facebook photos (since JustPictures! FB login no longer works). However I'm still missing the ability to push to my Co-Star...since it's not closed Samsung functionality, I figure that there has to be something out there.

For some things there just aren't viable replacement widgets out there, like Email., but there are plenty of TW based custom ROMs here that allow for unbelievable themes and mods which look and perform as good or better than CM /AOSP and still let all the Samsung features work or even add more features from S4 and Note 2. Its surprising to me how far Google and 3rd party developers seem to have messed the boat on good widgets. Of course for Google some of it is politics, they don;t want to be closely tied to for example Facebook integration, since Facebook is in many ways a competitor to Google. Its for that reason that I think the new "Google Experience phones will be a failure with most people because honestly, AOSP Google is pretty bland and has no good pathway to better widgets unless you intend to use only Google apps and not things like Facebook, twitter, etc.
For the Co-Star/ ViMu media player you might try some of the UPnP/DLNA compatible stream apps in the market

[Q] Disable Samsung Stock Internet Browser

Is there a way to disable the stock internet browser completely, or replace it with something else entirely?
I know about setting up other browsers to be the default, but I use Feedly quite a bit and some of the sites I visit works great on my Note 8 which has the older AOSP browser as the built-in brower, and it uses this engine to load websites within Feedly regardless of what other 3rd party browsers I have set as default.
On the Note 12.2, the default browser engine doesn't render some of these sites in Feedly, and I'd like to know if there's a way to disable or replace the built-in web browser with something else?
My Note Pro 12.2 is rooted so I can replace apks if it comes to that. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.
With Titanium Backup you can freeze apps so they can not be used. You just need Pro Key for it.
There is this AOSP Browser Installer on Play store for rooted 4.x devices, so it could maby work.. or maby not
Feedly is kinda bad because of this and it is a known issue with it for some time, it will always use the stock browser and if it is missing, some features will not work... Consider some alternatives like Inoreader, NewsBlur, or even Flipboard (that comes with the tablet).

[Q] My Moto 4G is caching everything. Is it a normal behavior?

I bought a Moto 4G few days ago and I feel like it has a strange behaviour.
My problem is that the phone is not handling multitasking as I would expect it to.
Some examples:
- I use Chrome as web browser. Each time I switch between tabs, the tabs are refreshed.
So if I am writing something in a form and need to check something in a other tab, then when I'll come back to the form the text I typed is lost with the refresh.
- I have the same problem with forms inside apps. I wanted to sell something using a classified ads app. And I experienced the same. I switched on chrome to check the spec.
When I switched back to my ad, the app completely restarted!
- I don't play often but I tried to see what the phone is capable of. I tried with Plants VS Zombies. And it is the same. If I switched back and forth the game will restart.
To sum up, I feel like the multitasking on my Moto G is only remembering the list of apps in use and restart them when needed!
I read that this may be due to a lack of RAM (the Moto G has 1Go of RAM). But I never experienced that with an old Galaxy S with Cyanogen ICS (512Mo RAM), nor with a more recent Nexus 4 with KitKat or older releases (2Go of RAM).
So I just made few tests:
- The classified ads app + chrome with with *one* tab + the task manager => no problem when switching (and the phone has ~300Mo of free RAM)
- The classified ads app + chrome with with *two* tabs + the task manager => apps are cached and refreshed if needed (and the phone has ~300Mo of free RAM)
- A game + the classified ads app + chrome with with *two* tabs + the task manager => apps are cached and refreshed if needed (and the phone **still** has ~300Mo of free RAM!!!)
I feel like the hardware of the Moto G is exactly what I need.
So do you think that this behaviour is due to a specific issue of my Moto 4G or it will be the same with any other one.
At the moment I think the problem comes from Android. But since the phone is praised everywhere on the internet I don't understand.
I feel like Google completely screwed up their last release of android (It is another problem but they probably destroyed the battery of my Nexus 4 with Kitkat).
I can't understand why a phone like this shouldn't be capable of real multitasking.
Depending on your answers I'll sent back my Moto 4G or not!
Thank you for your help.

this problem might be in chrome browser as I face same issue in moto e.
Do you have a lot of apps already installed?
as they eat ram even if you don't open them.
I think the problem is both with apps and the android itself.
I noticed that some apps use a lot of RAM (Facebook 50Mo on idle WTF?!), and almost no matter what I do (I stopped a lot of RAM consuming apps) chrome is cached. That is why I think that android should be able to understand that when you are writting something in a form you can't cache the apps unless it is absolutely mandatory...
What I don't understand is the fact that I don't feel like I am a heavy user of smartphone. It just the classics:
Gmail + Outlook, Facebook + Messenger, Chrome, GMaps mainly.
And this kind of usage is absolutely seemless on Nexus 4, was also seemless on the Galaxy S (that was a second hand one!).
On the Moto G it is not seemless. That is why I am puzzled.
No other users face these kind of problems?

apps running in background

Why don't Samsung phones keep apps running in the background... i see these speed tests of phones and Samsung are usually the quickest for the first round of apps, but the second run through of the apps Samsung's have to reload the app. Why?

WebView vs Chrome

Hi all, i recently freeze chrome to get webview working, as i was used to it with my other old smartphones and because i don't like chrome as a browser, i used firefox for a while but after the latest update i can't save the images from the web anymore by long press (it select all instead, idk why), and now i'm using samsung browser beta (unbelivable fast omg).
My question is, is a good idea to use webview?
from some apps, when it comes to call for external pages, they won't load, and i had to "open in firefox" (Wich i can't do now as samsung browser is not showing).
So,
WebView or Chrome? and why?
