[Q] Increase volume on stock? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, Ive been having this problem, that at certain times, for example at the gym or a crowded bus, where there are a lot of loud sounds around you, the maximum media volume is not enough for me. I used to have Note 2 with the same problem, but I just rooted it and modified sound config file, but I really want to avoid rooting S6, since its a superior phone and i dont need any benefits root might offer. So is there a way to increase maximum heaphone volume, without rooting your phone? I am using medium-range sony earbuds, hated the new Apple like S6 stock ones (by the way, what do you think of them?), and atm I dont have spare cash for a new model, so replacing the earbuds is out of the question. If not, what is the least-system-modifying root and sound mod? I want to stay as close to stock as possible.

The only way I know of is to root.. because the mixer.xml file is in system.

I know im getting old but i dont need a hearing aid just yet !

Hello once again,
Having recently purchased an O2 XDA II Mini, i have noticed that the sound quality of this unit is sorely under par. I mean i can barely hear the thing sometimes. Calls, Alarms, music, movies ... etc. I know im getting old but i swear im gonna need a hearing aid if i keep using the O2.
My old Motorola K1 had similar problems until i modified the Operating System software with whats called seem edits. For those of you who are not familiar with this its simply hooking the phone up to software on the PC, ripping the particular file out that handles volume levels and modifying it. The end result was my Motorola could be heard a mile away !
I think my O2 is suffering the same problem. Is there anyone out there that knows how to actually increase the volume level of the O2 so that people like me (yeah yeah....i still don't think im that old) can actually start to hear the thing.
I have done a search regarding this problem and all i cant find is similar issues relating to loud speaker, i.e. hands free mode. I dont use that feature so im not concerned with it. I just want my O2 to sound louder in every other respect.
I'm sure the speaker inside the unit can handle a power increase. Cant it ?

[Q] Extremely Low Call Volume - Is this a common problem?

Hi all.
Recently got myself my first smartphone, the Nexus S on Telus. (Well, had a Samsung Omnia before, but getting a WM6.1 phone in 2010 can hardly be considered smart )
Everything was going swimmingly. I have a penchant for changing up the software innards on the devices I own, so naturally I rooted my shiny new phone and had a good time trying out all these ROMS. This was approximately a month ago.
About a week ago my phone inexplicably began to act up. My in-call volume dropped to barely a whisper, and my touch-sensitive search button would for some reason go off on it's on.
After a bit of Googling, I found out that the search button issue is affecting many other Canadian users also, something about a bug in the new radio (AUCKD1).
But I've yet to find anything conclusive about the in-call volume. There are threads who are complaining of either low or high volumes, but no workable solutions.
So as a last resort I have restored my phone to fully stock 2.3.4. One to see if it was my messing around that caused it, and to also prepare for the possibility of having to return my shiny. It may just be my imagination/denial, but the call volume seems slightly better. Not good enough for me to hear outside, but inside, with no background noise it's just slightly quieter than normal.
Another thing that is very odd. Skype volume is much louder than voice calls. To be frank it's still not loud enough to be considered acceptable, but it is definitely louder. They use the same speakers right? Why would that be?
If at all possible I'd like to avoid having to take the phone back since Telus will no doubt charge me exuberant fees for having touched the phone for more than 3 seconds and moving more than 18 millimeters away from the store I bought it from.
Please advise, XDA!
U can try install kernel voodoo sound from supercurio and apps. U can see the different.
I had try most of the custom rom. There is one rom who give me loudest call volume, but I can't remember which ROM it is. U should explore more rather than bring it to the store.
Now I'm on liquidnexusbread, but not giving me a good volume in call.
I knew it sucks... but I love this rom performance.

[Q] rom for chinaphone star w0077

hi guys just purchased w007 iphone copy running ics 4.0.4 and i must say that its pretty awesome but i've got a problem and need abit of help. the other day i noticed my in call volume was really low even on the highest settings. did a factory reset and everything but it is still the same, the media speaker is fine so i can make calls on speakerphone but the earpiece is barely audible. it was fine before and then just really low, thinking its some fault with the speaker. looked into getting a app to boost incall volume past the manufacturer settings and found out volume+ would do it but only if the phone was rooted which i did (and was quite easy to do). however even though the phone is rooted the call volume option (which ive seen in screen shots) is not present even though ive granted volume+ superuser permissions. so im thinking you actually need to be running a custom rom to get this option. now this is a copy chinaphone so info about it is pretty hard to find so i was wondering if anyone knew what customs roms are out for it and actually how to flash one to it. even better if anyone knows how to increase the call volume maybe by build prop or some other app or other way that would be awesome.

Xperia EU regulated capped Volume

So I've been an Xperia flagship user ever since the T, and it has gotten miles better. I currently own the Z5. One of the main reasons I love sony smartphones is their excellent audio quality - and as an audiophile that spends quite a lot of money on very good equipment, it really is leaps and bounds above the competition as far as transparency and soundstage is concerned.
However, traditionally, Xperias (and many other smartphones to my knowledge) have suffered from a rather low volume output - and this is, in case some of you don't know, not because of a weak AMP, but because of a software limit imposed by the EU health regulators.
I've used many fiio and creative portable amps in the past, but have always gone back to not using them (and selling them) because they take a lot from the portability advantages of a smartphone, plus they cancel any mic input.
Therefore, I was wondering, is there ANY exploit or way to bypass this volume limit, through a customized firmware, mod, etc? Because i truly love the way the Z5 processes the music, but i'd really appreciate a slight increase in audio output, since i mostly use them in the subway.
Also, just in case any of you would like to suggest it, no, the "volume booster" apps do absolutely nothing.
So, you guys know of any way to uncap this volume limit?
thanks!
Can you select location as north America or rest of the world anywhere as they don't have the restriction laws. I can't remember now if it asks you somewhere on initial set up

You can but it's the same thing. it's actually related to the firmware version. So a non eu firmware version could work in order to flash it.
Anyone has one ? (that also has the english language supported)
Anyone figure this out?

If you unlock bootloader and root, you'll probably have success with your problem. You could try:
- Viper4android (volume boost options for headphone and speaker, along with excellent other features)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223 Unfortunately i couldn't find any information about the compatibility with xperia z5 line. Maybe you also have to set SELinux policy to permissive, or use some other strategies following guides for Z3 Lollipop. You have to try yourself
- adapting sound mods like these http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/z3-speakers-incoming-call-headphones-t2889964
or http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/development/stereo-speakers-sound-mod-v3-2-z323-0-1-t3015912
Note that mixer_paths.xml file on Z5 is different and they might not work.
- maybe some "volume boost" apps with ROOT access
My suggestion is to try Viper4android first, then try to search for some volume boost apps from developers on xda, then, if nothing works, play with mixer_paths.xml file.
If you have success with any of them, please report it here.

Sure no problem, can possibly be done in kernel but definitely in system.
In /system/etc/ there's a file named mixer_paths.xml, you can edit anything there.
Aux, usb audio, Bluetooth, incoming and outgoing audio, mic and dualmic volumes, speaker volumes etc etc.
Just remember, the first half of the code is audio path routing. Second half is volume settings.
Example:
1 Aux (routing)
2 usb (routing)
3 Bluetooth (routing)
4 mic (routing)
5 etc etc..(routing)
1 Aux (digital volume)
2 usb (digital volume)
3 Bluetooth (digital volume)
4 mic (digital volume)
5 etc etc..(digital volume)
You can edit any digital volume, remember to test safely and raise volume slowly when testing.
Also, Rx is a channel, so when there's Rx1 and Rx2 digital volume 70, u want to change to volume 80, u gotta change both as one is left and one is right channel.
Oh, by the way, u need root for this.

Make headphone sound louder without root ?

Hello, so..
I love this phone, and i want to keep it, but there is a major issue.. The jack output is so weak that it is pathetic.
I don't know how much decibels this is producing, but to my ears this is like 80 db at max if not less while any other phone is easily at 95...
I never had a phone that sounded so lame, and i'm using Marshall EQ Mode earphones. I know this is some kind of sound restriction from the stupid EU government or something..
I would usually root the phone and find an audio mod, but first i don't even know if there is such a mod for the XZP, and the biggest problem is that the root method means loosing DRM and so loosing major functionnalities, which i'm not willing to do
So isn't there any solution ? This is a complete shame, this phone was perfect for me, this is my ONLY complaint with it and i known i can't just live with it since i mainly use my phone as a music player, and music is important for me. At this state, i can't enjoy it at all, even my stupid laptop has a better (louder) sound.
I'm considering switching to a samsung S8 or any other phone that has a better jack output now...
You can't increase the volume without root. I'm using skullcandy smokin' bud 2 earphones and they are plenty loud.
