Hi,
Is there a program that allows me to get the full contents of a FTP server and saves this folders or files list?
I have a media player that takes some time start up. Instead of waiting, I'd like to be able to get the contents offline. I mean just see the names of the files or folders on my phone.
Thanks
Never mind, I've used telnet to do this.

Essentially trying to clean up music files on sdcard without going through all files. Kind of like what iTunes does by finding duplicates and allowing deletion of files.
The way I cleaned mine up was by connecting to PC, opening what ever folder I wanted to clean. Music in your case, and sorting by name. Then just delete any dubs. Don't know of an app though...
I'm try out Polaris Office and drop box as a combination...is there any way to set the default folder location in PO to dropbox?
Not a huge deal but it would simplify things if I didn't have to pick it everytime I wanted to save a doc.
I'm also interested in this topic. anyone knows a possibility, polaris office to link with dropbox? apparently it only works with box.net. someone has a tip?
Unless you want to screw with smb/nfs mounting a PC or Mac's Dropbox, AFAIK you will have to save the file locally then add it via the Dropbox app or launch PO through DB. I don't think saving to e.g. /mnt/sdcard/dropbox/ will work but I have never tried it.

You need to use something like Titanium sync:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.keramidas.MediaSync&feature=search_result
It will automatically upload a file(s) in folders you set to Dropbox (1-way sync).
If you want to edit the file, open it on the TF, edit and save onto the TF. The sync app will detect the change and immediately upload and overwrite the previous version on Dropbox (unless you save it as a different filename obviously).
If you set the Dropbox folder to be uploaded by the sync app, that might give you quite close to a 2-way sync even if it is a bit inefficient (i.e. if you download a file from DB to TF, then the sync app will upload it again but it will be the same file so its not the end of the world) then you can edit and backup to DB.
I have my phone unlocked and I have the touchexplorer installed. I viewed a PDF about 2 months ago and I want to look at it again. Is there a temp folder that holds these documents and where is it?
normally u would find all your pdfs in Adobe reader unless you deleted them, now if u did I am not sure but I do not think it would show up in temp or anything coz that would just waste precious memory.
Pdf Reader sometimes doesn't store files when you receive few different files with the same name. Like I receive my carrier bill having the same name every month. Because you can't rename files hence the conflict appears. Another great "advantage" of lack of file explorer.
And if in this case you deleted the email containing this file than Pdf is gone.
I was able to find the PDF by going opening the Adobe App (simple right..) now I would like to get it to my computer. I have it set so windows explore on my computer can access the files on my phone but where would that specific file be stored?
Via a button or something. Say you had to search for something on windows remotely. Then upon finding it, you need to edit that one file. But remoting in and editing doesnt always work well. But if you could send the file (via wifi?) and open it with an Android app, then it could be easier and more manageable. Sorta like chrome to phone, but for files...
It's something that already exists. You have to root your device and then set up a Samba file sharing server, then you can push files from Windows/Linux/Mac onto your Samba share where you can then edit them.
Or, you can use cloud-based services like Google Docs, Dropbox, etc.
I am looking for an app that will let me use my Lumia to connect to the shared folders on my home PC while connected to my home network via WiFi. I want to be able to connect as my PC user account, browse to a UNC path (e.g. "\\DESKTOP-PC\Pictures"), and download/transfer files from the PC to my phone... all without the need for any server software or additional setup on the PC.
I see the "ShareFolder" app in the marketplace (for $2.50), but there is no trial, and few reviews. Does anyone know if that app will suit my needs (one review makes me believe it won't, but the description indicates it will)? Or can anyone recommend a solution?
Thanks very much for reading!
Depends on how much space you need to have for "sharing" and what you need to do. The ShareFolder app can let you look at pictures, but you cant open any other file types on your phone. Not very useful.
I highly recommend using SkyDrive, as now they have a Desktop Folder, just like Dropbox, and then your computer doesn't even need to be on. But space is not huge....
The SkyDrive app is free but there are other apps for SkyDrive
Or, if you don't want to bother with a SkyDrive folder on your desktop, you can check out Allway Sync - it runs off your computer and automatically syncs your specified folders just about anywhere, including SkyDrive. I have the Pro Version and LOVE it!
Otherwise, you have to pay for a "big" cloud space or run a server off your puter, as far as I know.

Click to collapse
I find 25Gb to be spacious enough for the content I host on there, really.
