Is it possible to put a unlocked Verizon s6 on straight talk? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

I can't seem to find a straight answer on this. If I buy a Verizon S6 without a contract can you place it on Straight talk? I see that they sell Sim card for lte so I am under the impression you can but can't verify

HERE is a discussion on that network.

Thanks but that doesn't really help. I don't want it on the att network, straight talk also uses verizon towers with CDMA phones. I'm just checking to see if anyone here has done this yet with this phone and straight talk since they now sell lte CDMA Sims.

you must be talking about some Straight Talk i have never hear of because the national Straight Talk Wireless which you can see on their info page here where it says :
Which phones are compatible?
The Straight Talk SIM card will only work with an AT&T or T-mobile compatible or unlocked GSM phone.

I can confirm that Verizon's S6 works on Straight Talk (AT&T sim version). You will get calls, messages, and even LTE data. The only downside is that incoming calls will be prefixed with + (plus) which breaks contact matching: e.g. if you are getting a call from 650 000 0000 then it will show as +650 000 0000 and it will break contact matching (it will look as an unknown number).

Ok this is what I'm talking about, a CDMA phone using this lte sim that they sell for Verizon phones. They fit right in and supposedly give you LTE, it's new this year

Yeah apparently no is aware of this yet online..... I do think it will work thought I found one guy on you tube that used the cdma sim for his verizon iphone.
I am very curious I mean obviously it has to work or else they are selling false cdma sim cards lol. There byop system says my vzw s4 is compatible now which use to it did not.
For the people who still think straight talk only sales att tmobile sims look here you are wrong shopstraighttalk com/bpdirect/straighttalk/Start.do?action=view&siteType=TR&gotoPhonelist=true&productFamily=CDMA%20BYOP&market=CDMAV&locale=en[/url]
also page plus offers 4g lte sims for verizon also. Im about to buy a verizon gs6 off ebay use it to finish up my remaining 4 months of contract with verizon and the switch.

For what it's worth, i have a straight talk cdma SIM running in my Lumia Icon which is a verizon phone/

This definitely will work, I purchased a galaxy s4 verizon version, and put it on straight talk. You have to purchase the correct sim kit (the red one, not the blue one). The only thing is they limit the speed of the LTE to around 5 mbps download.

I would recommend the new Verizon prepaid plan, it is slightly more expensive than straight talk ($45 for 1 gb, extra 3gb is $20 but rolls over for 3 months), but it is real verizon and unthrottled 4G speeds.
On another note, post pay verizon = american customer service. Prepay verizon = foreign accent/hard to communicate customer service. Its not as bad as straight talk's though

Yes it will work No need for unlocking .. I just purchased a S6 edge from verizon NOT UNLOCKED .. and just used the SIM for Verizon through Straight Talk! So all is good! No enjoy that beautiful phone!

I just received my unlocked Verizon S6 in the mail today, threw my Verizon ST sim card in it and it jumped right on no problems at all

I'm on AT&T go phone, can I purchase the one x full retail witouth problems?

I know what you think, go phone sucks, not enough data blah blah blah. But AT&T recently upgraded their gophone data plan to 1GB from 500 mb. Honestly 1GB for me is more than enough cause I use wifi at home, wifi at work, I live in the Washington dc area and there's wifi everywhere so I barely even use my data. Do you think I'll be able to buy the one XL ( off contract of course) or will AT&T give me a hard time cause I'm a gophone customer? I'm just worry about the fact that it's LTE.
You might get some pushback from the rep or manager, but there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to get it. You will just have to change your APN, as the only one that works with prepaid is "wap.cingular"

Typically, Amazon mobile or other 3rd party retailers, will charge more for non-contract phone than AT&T because they can't get any payback from AT&T.
Your biggest problem will be microSIM activation. You may have to buy a microSIM cutter to trim your current go phone SIM yourself. AT&T won't be thrilled to activate One X for a Go phone plan.
There is also a chance that AT&T will stop your data service once it detects that you are using a 4G smartphone (it has the IMEI number on database) on a Go Phone plan. Yes, it happened to others before.

True. I'll call an AT&T store and ask them just to make sure.
It's a lot easier to do something like that with T-mobile's monthly 4g pre-paid plans. All you need to do is order a sim online from them. They don't care what you use with their plan.
If I recall correctly u need a special lte sim to use lte.

Your phone won't get hspa+ or lte on prepaid service. In fact, you won't get any data until you change your apn to wap.cingular, which is a 3G apn. If you need a microsim, just go to the at&t store and tell them you don't have your phone but you want to activate a prepaid plan. Be sure to specify that you need a microsim and they will just put a dummy IMEI consisting of all 1111111.

Despite the US Carrier's "4G" (fauxG) marketing blitz, HSPA is actually 3G. The LTE build out is a proper 4th generation network.
If you do not care about LTE why not import an international version and not have to worry? Also you might be able to buy one from Rogers in Canada it is the same device but AT&T shouldn't have the IMEI number

AT&T version has 1-year warranty while imported version likely has zero warranty. If you bricked your phone one way or another, a warranty is probably quite important to most of us.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but unlocking bootloader on newer HTC phones is done via HTC Dev, and that voids your warranty automatically ( as in they have your IMEI and know you rooted with them)?
If so, then don't worry about having warranty for bricking the device, you lost it when bootlader was unlocked.

When your phone is bricked, e.g. can't boot up, there is no way AT&T can tell which version or unlocked boot loader you are using. At least not for the clerks at warranty center. If your bootloader is still functioning. Chances are you can still manage to load another ROM on to it.
Besides, there could be other hardware defacts that you may need to exchange. A warranty is always welcome.

[Q] Samsung galaxy S4 not working on Straight Talk

I just purchased two unlocked samsung galaxy s4 AT&T SGH-I337 unlocked phones. I returned one because it would not read my sim card for an AT&T Straight Talk sim card. I spoke with a ST tech support who told me that the phone should work if it were truly unlocked. The second one is doing the same. Today, I contacted ST and was told that ST would not work with the technology in this phone. This doesnt make since and I would like to get more information. There are ST customers using SGS4. Some one please help me with this because i have a beautiful paper weight.
Try using another SIM or another prepaid plan other than ST ie. H2O

As far as i know there are only two versions of the nexus 5, one for north america and one for the rest of the world. The one for north america supports att, tmobile and sprint on the same device.
I actually got my Nexus 5 from T-mobile on a pay per month plan, so imagine my surprise when I put an att sim card into it rebooted and it worked on att lte. I was expecting the deivce to be locked to T-mobile and give me a sim error, the rep even told me that they are locked to T-mobile so I am not sure if they all come carrier unlocked or it was something that happened during the rooting, unlocking bootloader and custom rom process.

Is anyone using ATT? Since the Best Buy Sprint N5 has an MEID number, ATT needed an IMEI number to input into their system in order for the new sim card to work.
Well I'm 100% sure that all nexus 5's are network unlocked regardless of what carrier you get it from. Of course if you ask the customer rep that question they will say its locked because they don't want you to jump ship. They don't wanna have to go through the hassle of phone calls, emails, and letters of collection debts. Not to mention that they will get their money in the end when or if you decide to jump ship without paying cancellation fees. The the bill gets footed to your credit score in a negative manner. I spent the last three days trying to figure out whether or not they were unlocked and I got my answer from a reliable guy on here. (In the Tmobile thread) didn't want to waste 8 or 9 dollars paying a company to unlock it for me. (If it was unlocked to begin with) so yeah carriers can't be trusted. They will say whatever they have to to protect the interests of their company.

Just pop an att Sim into the phone, reboot and it will start working. It should automatically register the imei, it did for me. If not you can go to setting->about phone->status and read the imei off to the Rep over the phone.
I got my nexus 5 from T-mobile, just removed their Sim card put in my work att Sim card and it picked up service. No need for an unlock or anything as I believe all nexus 5 regardless of who sells them are unlocked.

I lost the pin that came with the nexus so when I need to switch Sims I just use a very fine sewing needle. Don't use a paper clip or even the pin that comes with an iPhone they are way too thick and will deform the pin hole entry, I know cause mine got deformed by the iPhone pin.

BTW the tray doesn't pop out completely, I would say once u push the pin in it comes out maybe like 0.5 cm after that just use ur fingers to pull it out, so the pin just kinda disengages the sim tray from the phone.

[Q] Will the Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920F work with Walmart's Family Mobile Plan?

According to the Family Mobile website, you can use an unlocked GSM phone to make use of their plans. I've come to understand that the SM-G920F model and the SM-G920i model are unlocked GSM type phones but I don't know the difference between the two and the F model is listed as an International model and I'd like to know if that is a problem.
It's also been brought to my attention that in order to use a carrier's services, the phone must support certain bands. However, the questions on Amazon do not help as the answers are conflicting with some people claiming things like the international models not supporting 4G LTE or that one model or another will not work with T-Mobile (which by extension, I assumed that meant it wouldn't work with Family Mobile either).
I would have posted links to these phones but I'm a new user so I'm not allowed to, sorry.
I'm currently using Walmart family plan 39.99 a month unlimited with my s6. It was a t mobile branded unit, I installed the metro pcs 5.0.2 rom and registered it with Walmart sim no problem. Typing this post on it.
---------- Post added at 03:42 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:38 AM ----------
And yes it's 4glte and works perfect. I changed to the metro pcs rom because you can't unlock the t mobile sim so easily. But with the metro 5.0.2 I didn't even have to unlock it, I just called Walmart and registered my nano sim with the phones imei and no problems..

For anyone buying the Essential Phone outright to use on Sprint, beware.

Do NOT activate the phone directly after getting it from Best Buy/ Essential, as it'll lock your device to Sprint. They won't be able to unlock it in Sprint, or by using Sprint tech support either. I went to a Sprint store, and was told they cannot unlock in-store. I was then told to contact their support number, and was transferred 8 times to the highest level of tech support, which ended in them telling me there was absolutely no way to unlock it. So, I was forced to take it back to Best Buy, and have to wait till Wednesday for it to arrive. Apparently Sprint sims will lock to your phone if it's taken to them directly and activated, so I'd suggest putting in a VZW sim and then activating the phone on Sprint. Don't make the same mistake I made.

Lol you want screenshots of Sprint causing my phone to become locked? I can throw up pictures of my receipts of buying a UNLOCKED Essential phone, and then it becoming magically locked when my Sprint sim was inserted in it. It also rejected AT&T AND T-Mobile sims. Why would I fabricate a story of my phone becoming locked? The Sprint store reps told me this is something that happens a lot, along with Best buy employees telling me they had this happen before. Only reason I posted this was to make sure this happened to no one else. The only way this just happened to just me is if Essential accidentally shipped a locked Sprint phone out that was packaged like an unlocked phone, and I was just unfortunate enough to receive it. Or maybe I just imagined spending an hour and a half speaking to Sprint reps trying to unlock my phone and the about phone section and activation status on my phone are just bogus.....
Some more details that might be useful for buyers:
1. In store pickup seems to make the phone lock to Sprint, even if the first time you turn it on its with a different SIM inside.
2. People have reported Essential phone being unlocked if you choose delivery instead and use another SIM on first turn on of the device.
What kind of analogy is this.. putting VZW sim then activate to Sprint.
Picked-up mine and its unlock. No mumbo jumbo
To be clear, OP is saying (I think) if you first turn on phone with sprint sim and activate it, it will lock to Sprints SIM.
If you first activate it with a different sim, you will have no problems with any sim, including sprint.
Has anyone bought an unlocked phone and first activated it with a Sprint Sim?
My question is.. Why would you buy the Sprint variant outright? Why not buy the unlocked modem from best buy, amazon or essential? Its cheaper too.. Then put your sprint sim.

I didn't. I bought an unlocked one from Best buy and took it directly to Sprint to get it activated. When they did, it carrier locked my device, and I was only receiving Sprint updates... Either Essential shipped me a locked Sprint phone, or Sprint locked it when I activated my phone that I owned, which is illegal.
It's easy to see what variant in Fastboot. It will show Variant - Sprint if it is flashed with Sprint software. Are you sure Best Buy didn't just accidentally grab a Sprint model by accident?
