Mobile 5.0 > Smartphone: Text Messages

Hello! I've recently purchased my very first cell phone. It runs on Smartphone for Windows Mobile 5.0. I have a pretty good call plan, but I opted not to get a Text Messaging package. Since I did not buy the Text Messaging package, I know that I'm going to get charged an arm and a leg for every Text message that I send and receive, and I would like to minimize the cost if I can help it.
I notice that when I make Contacts for people I know, if they have a Mobile phone my OS automatically asks if I want to call them or send them a text message. The reason I write this post is to ask if there is a way to disable the operating system from even showing "Text Message" as one of the options presented to me. If I can't see it, then there is less of a change that I (or anyone using my phone) would have to even accidentally send a Text Message.
I'm not very knowledgeable about my phone yet, but if there is also a way for me to disable allowing other people to Text Message me... then that would also be a very good thing I would like to know.
If anyone has any solutions to this wish of mine, or possibly a pointer to set me off in the right direction on how to find more information on this, I would be highly grateful!

[Q] Contact ID not shown on recieved sms

Hi,
Ive searched the forum for an answer but couldnt find one so therefore i turn to you all for my question.
I recently got my MDA Vario IV and am really happy with it. There is only 1 problem. Whenever I recieve a text from someone it shows the phonenumber of that person and not the name. This makes it hard for me to see who send me a text as all i see is mobile phone numbers and not contact names.
So what i see is:
+31612345678
blablabla
And not:
Cilenia
blablabla
Ive tried a couple of things to fix this but none of them seem to work.
- I've deleted one of my contacts i text often with from both SIMcard and phone and readded his phonenumber. Didn't work...
- I've clicked on the number in the SMS and resaved it in my phonebook from there and then got another text from that person and still only the phonenumber... (when i click on the number in the sms it keeps saying its an unknown number and if i want to add it to the phonebook, even if i just added it 2 seconds ago.)
- I then deleted the contact and saved it again via the text i recieved... when i got a new text from that person, there is still only the phonenumber!
How do i fix this??? Its annoying the crap out of me
Cilenia

cant See contacts name when an SMS arrives

Hi
I have a question, I have a rahpael running WM6.1. When I get an SMS
instead of showing the name of the person that sent it, it shows the
number even I have the contact stored. What I figured is that the
stored number is XXX-XXXX and the SMS comes from +61 XXXXXXX.
In other phones Ive had (Nokia, Sony Ericsson) when an SMS comes from
that number, it does associate it with the contact name.
Any ideas on how to get this done on the Raphael
Hello
I think its a Windows problem... I had the same problem ..
I´ve changed all my contact numbers to +49....... ( i am from germany )
and now it shows me the contact if i get a sms or a call..
( i changed all in Outlook and sync it... its easer than in the Raphael with this little pencil )

WM 6.5 - SMS inbox issue.

I have tried many cooked roms with my i780, almost all of them WM 6.5.
I realized today that if I have more than one number registered inside an outlook contact (I am used to register alternative mobile phone numbers in the "pager" field), when I receive an sms from a contact with more than one phone number, there is absolutely no way to find out which number was used to text you. Also, when you reply, you don't know the phone number you are texting, you just know that its the same that was used from your contact to text you in the first place.
I realized that today when I was chatting a friend of mine believing that I use my "free of charge" sms messages (which I do when I text his main number) and ended up charging my balance. He told me he was using his alternate number (that I have registered as pager) and when I tried to somehow confirm it, i see there is no way. All you get is the name of your contact. No way to access extra info either for received or sent messages.
Am I missing something? Has anyone else realized that and/or has a problem with it?

[Completed] Cannot receive messages (SMS) from iphones

Hi,
After transferring my sim card from an iphone to an android phone, i did not receive any sms coming from iphones (while I received those from android or windows phones).
I read that this was due du Imessages format (when a messsage is sent between two iphones). It appears that my phone nb was considered by the emetting phone as an Iphone nb. This is confirmed by the fact that the color message on the emitting Iphone was blue (it should have been green if sent to a non apple phone).
Then, I went to the Apple web site (https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage ) to deregister my phone nb. After I followed the procedure, I received a confirmation message indicating that my number had been deregistred ; but even after restarting my phone, I still cannot receive text messages from Iphones.
Does anyone have an idea of what I could do to fix the problem ???
Many thanks in advance.
Bruno
Hi !
If you`re trying to receive messages from an Iphone and the sender is using the Imessage service then that`s an Apple interconnectivity and I guess it doesn`t work , both shold be on imessage
Try to contact Apple support , they may have blacklisted your number
Some workaround here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752978
