Just install ES file Explorer.
Or if you prefer Nexus Media Importer
You can enable USB OTG with these apps
GPE has not native support to USB OTG
Sent from my Moto G
already tried with ES File E

Any solution yet :/
Can it be ported into a mod or xposed app so the system detects it automatically ?

Hello,
after not being able to cast my screen to a Miracast enabled TV(not showing up under settings/display/cast screen) I had a brief chat with Moto support who told me that the G does not support Miracast. As I don't see any hardware related limitation I would like to ask:
Have anyone been able to use Miracast?
What else is the Cast screen option good for?
Anyone seeing a possibility of making it usable?
Thanks,
Miklós

Just edit the build.prop and add this line to it "persist.debug.wfd.enable=1" after this reboot the phone and go to settings->Display->Cast screen->Enable Wireless Display
and then select your miracast device .
Thanks a lot for this.
Works like a dream , with my moto g (xt1032) and my Bravia Tv.

Have you resolve? I have a solution for you. After a root I have delete files importante of android and the smartphone is like died.
If you go in the recovery of lenovo you can update a new firmware with a SD card. I have the file if you have necessity.

Lenovo S856 Need China stock ROM.... Please
Gentlemen and ladies,
Is there anyone in the XDA community who has access to a stock ROM for the China version of the Lenovo S856?
If so, could you please share it with me so that I can revive my phone? I was stupid enough to try flashing the ROW ROM to my phone and unfortunately I was successful- now I join the gentlemen above in having a soft bricked phone.
Thank you for any help that can be provided here.
I need help regarding this phone FW.
I recevied Lenono S856, with ROM error.
when I ON the phone and swap the Home Screen I am getting this message.

Probably it's because the moto g is not capable of that because of the software. Have you tried this cable on another device?

Probably it won't work, because the moto g is not hardware capable or software ready.
Last time I tried mine, it did work.

Now I tested it again with a flash drive and a mouse. Apparently it can either use the USB device or charge, but not both at the same time. The external power input does provide power to the USB device though - even a 2.5" hard drive works (pulling 0.25 to 0.35 A from the power input according to my USB meter).
Just wondering if anyone could verify this for me or not.
Currently running 6.0 on Nexus Player with Root and stickmount to access 5TB external powered HDD (NTFS).
I've read somewhere that with SPMC you don't need root and stickmount to access the HDD with the latest Nexus Player updates.
Can anyone confirm or deny? I really don't want to upgrade and lose root just to try and have it fail.

Couple questions if I could.
What format nas? Do you connect via USB OTG cable?
What version nexus player are you running?
So no root or stick mount needed?
Where does your nas show up under Kodi's files for video files?

I use 2x 8tb Western digital my clouds as they use red drives and have a quad core could and 1gb of RAM and are fairly cheap.
Stock Nexus player running Oreo.
I have a tri band Asus ac5300 router and dedicate a 5ghz band just for media streaming.
Connect to drives via WiFi using SMB in Kodi.

You can install it by the reset button that needs to be pressed via a toothpick or small hairpin

I've not have time to install it, but as usual, you can do it via toothpick reset or "nvram short circuit"
