This ROM is built by the Chinese developer @nian0114(xda name:jing95916).
Please take note that although this ROM is based on CM/Omni/Sammy, you will get a MIUI experience instead of an AOSP one.
This ROM is approved by MIUI officials and hosted by Xiaomi Official Server. Although it is not directly maintained by Xiaomi, you can still treat this as some official ROM.

EDIT: Rom is smooth and works well. Google Play Store is broken though (as in the i9300 thread) as you get an insufficient space error when trying to install apps. Also, it doesn't seem to be possible to make the 4G setting stick so rebooting always resets it to 3G only.
feels great! Play store error as mentioned already and theme/wallpaper app(s) start in english when loading but immediately switch to chinese a split second later....

I've gone back to my old rom for now as I really need 4G (permanent) & function gapps. Once these are solved, this ROM is great.
Does anyone know which recovery works best with the OTA update feature? I'm using Philz Touch currently but it errors and you have to manually browse to the zip file.

Coming from Lolipop, here is the step i do
1. Do exactly as the OP: wipe/factory reset twice
2. Flash rom, flash SU, reboot into rom
3. Flash Gapp ( let it finish MD5 sum)
4. Clean cache/dalvik
5. Everything works fine
BTW, i find it's hard to get into recovery without a 4 way reboot option :crying:

Also- did you know that you can get into recovery via the System Update screen? Just hit the settings button and you'll see an option in the menu. Much easier than the key combo

I'd say you should be OK to install over the top of it but of course make sure you backup your current stable rom just in case that way if it doesn't work you can recover then try full wipe and install new CM7

ROM looks and feels a lot like MIUI, it is, sort of, Taiwanese MIUI or hybrid of MIUI and CM.
If you're wondering about QiSS visit their homepage or try some of their apps that are available on Play Store.
Installation for noobs
0. Download The ROM and put it into root of your SD card
1. Boot into recovery
2. Nandroid backup incase you don't like it or in case it backfires at you
3. Full wipe data and cache
4. Wipe dalvik cache
5. Flash rom
6. Wipe cache and Dalvik
7. Reboot and Enjoy

Please, report if you encounter any errors/bugs, also do a nand backup first.
I tried to build AOKP based on latest code but i am getting black screen, rom boots and works but screen remains black. Kayant has the same problem on Defy...although i was able to get half of the screen visible on landscape mode but that didnt help much.

Yeah, I know QiSS rom doesn't have many language options and I am afraid it has to be done manually which is very time consuming and I am not even sure that the process is crystal clear and can be done without couple of failed attempts resulting in bootloops. 'Coz, what essentially needs to be done is to decompile every app and add values{language} folder from either MIUI or CM.
I may give it a try when I have some spare time but I am not promising anything.
There are more important things than language.

Bugs i found before switching back:
When someone called me, i couldnt accept nor deny the call i could only send a generic sms.
This would not have been so bad, but the Phone did not stop ringing only a restart of the Device could fix it.
The other Bug i've found.
I am an Ingress Player so i was bad that the GPS did not work (properly/at all)
The app showed me for 10 secounds in the wrong Position 300M away and then went off completely.
So i hope that helped

GPS errors are quite regular on 5.1 it's common to all cm based rom as the call error, i have it on cm12 nightly

Bugs that cannot be resolved since CM itself is still buggy...
A Sense-based MIUI would require a lot of time and effort to build, and bugs are hard to resolve.

And about that Permissions app: I've flashed and used SuperSU during my MIUI days, never had to use Permissions app. With SuperSU, we no longer need to do that i suppose.
Its pretty smooth was my first impression. Im still testing some things and setting it up. I dont see a different camera, what I see is the regular Google Cam unless Im missing something. I cannot seem to get rid of this Android 5.0.1 update that is in my notification bar!......hmmmm

Long press the stupid notification and boom...
From my testers' feedback, Sense Camera and MIUI Camera provide worse experience than the Google Camera...

CLEAN FLASH:
-Before install ROM package if you're currently use STOCK ROM/CM11/CM12.1/CM13.0, make sure to wipe data/factory reset; if possible then do a internal sd format first, else you'll get error.
Tips:
* On first boot, or after rebooting device,turn your screen off, and left it for 2-3 mins to settle it down. After that use it,for better performance.
* In developer option, change animator,window and transition scale to 0.6 or less than it. (No need to completely disable it).

its miui patch rom n patch rom is mostly on chinese base rom so most of internal apps is chinese app

Is there any miui 7 or 8 rom in which apps are not in chinese and also stable. Because in this rom, there are too much bugs but this rom is very fast. Is sostk miui 7 rom stable and global?
Youtube video player not working, how to fix? Please help, I really like this rom and problem I face only with video play especially youtube app video player.

Am first downloaded the miui 8 and miui 7 flashing files.and just changed interchanged some video apps and video related files of both rom:angel:.try this way ..it will also increase the realibility and speed of your phone.am fully recomend to use cm 11 as base rom befor flashing

Could you please specify the video related files (libs) you replaced and what video apps did you replace it'll be kind if you could write a step by step instruction

am just replaced mivideo,soundfx folder from libs(other libs are attached).....thats it.... :angel::good:
also add the following below the buildprop
debug.performance.tuning=1
video.accelerate.hw=1
can you make a zip file of all the files you replaced and upload it on here or on a file hosting site

i can't understand how to delete/overwrite these file i download mui8 but 2 files r missing.. do have video tutorial or brief deeply
