[Q] OTG Not Working Anymore? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Nexus 5
Stock 5.1 Lollipop
No root
64gb micro USB/3.0 USB dual USB drive
When I first started exploring the USB via Nexus Media Importer it was fine, now after the 5.1 update it seems to have stopped working, in the app you would usually get 4 ticks allowing you to browse your USB, but now I get this message everytime.

Anyone else?
I have the same problem OTG works on my N7 2013 with no root. My N5 - pretends there's nothing there. Tried rooting, still no USB OTG with StickMount or ES, or any other method I can find.
Both running 5.1 stock.

Hi have no issue with StickMount on my N7 2013 with Android 5.0.2 and on N5 with 5.1
Edit:
Flashed 5.1.1 to my N7 2013 and again no issue with Stickmount

Same problem, with 5.1.1 I no longer have ANY USB functions, incl OTG.

One S says USB storage is damaged, but its not.

My One S (S4 tmob.de, s-on, no root, latest firmware) all of sudden stopped reading my pendrive. It says it is damaged. Pendrive works fine, no problems, i ran chkdsk on it, reformatted it a few times(FAT32, 16gb pendrive). Other pendrives work, but this one wont anymore.
Any ideas?

Normal USB 2.0 Flash Drive connected to my phone through USB OTG cable. I dont know why i didnt mention that..
OK, i finally found someone with USB HOST, and his phone gave option to reformat my pendrive, and now it works. (my phone didnt give me option to reformat..)
I am quite confused, cause it got formatted into FAT32, which it arleady was... but whatever, IT WORKS!

[Q] OTG Doesn't work on Thl W200S

I have Thl w200s and it supports OTG but Iv'e tried to connect an IR blaster.
But it just doing nothing. I have Android 4.2.2 which support OTG and the phone should support OTG to, but it doesn't work. I tried it on Samsung Galaxy S2 and it worked great.

Change the OTG cable maybe? Or try factory reset your phone.

I don't know how to help solve the issue,,, I have heard that OTG can be a finicky beast with some hardware not working properly...
Just saying that I don't believe it is a DU problem.

OTG problems with exfat

I'm currently running DU rom and on CM I used otg to transfer pictures from my 128gb SD to Instagram, but I switched because cm randomly reboots and I was having graphical problems too. So I switched to Omni Based DU but now when I plug in my card it comes up like this

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and I confirmed it still works in TWRP and on my PC? So basically I hate cm with all it's bugs, but I need OTG... Is there any way I can get it to work on DU?

Tried stickmount from the play store?
Yes it has the same problem

Stickmount will mount into a different directory than the ROM does, are you checking the proper directory for where Stickmount is mounting? Just to be sure.

Its folder on my sdcard and files still show up as 0b files, I tried copyingan entire folder from that 128gb card to an ntfs drive and then the stickmount works, but even stickmount doesn't help with exfat... I'm assuming this is a kernel problem

That's my guess as well. AK has a kernel that supports exFAT. Wish NTFS was supported with write in TWRP though, I wouldn't be using exFAT if that was the case.

OTG Not working on xPeria z5 Compact either on 5.1.1 or 6.0.1.

OTG Not working on xPeria z5 Compact either on stock 5.1.1 or after upgrade to 6.0.1. I tried different cables and thumb drives (at FAT32). All those cables ALL work on LG G3 and Xperia Z3 compact. Of course.... I did already "Detect USB Device"...everything says "Detecting"..."No USB device connected". There is no light/power to any USB thumb drive. The Phone-port is charging and does connect to the computer. For some reason the phone is not providing the power needed to power the Thumb-drive (or other devices...not even a USB mini hub or an TV tuner. Sony did the same troubleshooting I did.... Any ideas?
I Upgraded to 7.0 (Nougat), and still no OTG... Then I rooted and still no OTG.
I understand, it works before but not now. Maybe you break the lines that on micro usb port. OTG should use power wire and data wire. Maybe power wire that comes out your phone broken :/
VBUS (power out) and CBUS (power in) or vice versa
MHL - (data out) and MHL + (data in)

Tesekuler for your reply and also for the info on how to Root the phone as well as the files and your postings I run into from time to time. You are really helping a lot of us and I am sure thankful to you. Actually, I just bought this phone last week and it was brand new from China (Global Model 5823). The first thing I tested (Even Before I transferred anything) was the OTG. It never worked.
