I had the ATT 128 gb Edge version for a week and returned due to battery life.
I tried everything, disabled all Bloat, factory reset etc.... All the suggestions from XDA.
Here is my question, If I purchase the International Version:
Samsung Galaxy S6 128GB - Black Sapphire (SM-G920F, SIM Free/Unlocked)
Will the battery life be any better because all the ATT Bloatware is Not
on the phone?
Please give me your thoughts....

Hey guys, first time posting here. I have a couple of questions. I have a 2 year plan with At&t. I pay $100 a month for 3 gb data and unlimited mobile to mobile minutes. I sold my S3 last week for $400 to get the Note 2. I have decided to buy the Note 2 at full retail price so it doesn't change my plan or anything. Would the At&t Note 2 version be the best one for me to get? From everything I've read, all the variants are the same except they differ when it comes to coverage and LTE ****. Right? My 2nnd question is, will my Galaxy S3 sim card fit into the Note 2? I put all of my contacts on it before I sold it. Also, when I go to ATT friday to get the note 2, how do I activate it so it works with my plan? Just put the sim card in it and bam, it works, or do the idiots at ATT have to program it and stuff? Thanks guys!
basically i'm wondering since i'm with at&t should i get the att version or should i order the international version off amazon?!

Sir, there is a thread in place to assist you. Thank you & Thread closed.
The CPU in my Samsung Galaxy S4 is overheating and is killing the battery. When I turn the phone on it says Samsung Custom. I took it to the ATT Service Center and the guy did a reflash of the phone with the factory system which he said should have gotten rid of the Samsung Custom when I turn it on but it didn't and the CPU still showed 99% just like before. The guy told me that I need to get a new phone soon because the CPU will kill the battery and cause it to explode but the phone is out of warranty and is not eligible for an upgrade and told me the out of warranty options which I can't afford right now. The phone has already been replaced once and it has not even been a years since it was replaced and am really angry that it is already having problems. He also told me that I could find good deals for new phones online and that they would give me a new SIM Card for free but when I looked online everything was 400-500 dollars. Does anyone have any ideas on a way I could possibly fix my old one and why the Samsung Custom is not going away even after ATT factory reset it? I think it might me part of the problem.
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA assist.
I assume you are using the AT&T variant of the s4, am I correct.
If so, please create a XDA account and post here:

Hi - several months ago I read a lot about choosing between Exynos (intnl through Best Buy) and Snapdragon/AT&T.
It seemed there were a few tradeoffs to consider.
First and foremost people said the Exynos performance and battery life were better, but then once the Exynos phones received a software update around May they started exhibiting the battery drain issue that seemed to be plaguing Snapdragon phones. So much so that numerous people were recommending flashing back to a previous update version to avoid the battery drain bug. Reading through the forums I havent been able to figure out whether these problems have been sorted out and corrected on either phone?
I also recall that the international version did not have ability to use Samsung Pay in the US? I cant understand based on the threads I have read whether this is now in fact possible?
I Have also read varying things on the data performance on AT&T networks of the international version. It seems people have concluded that certain functions may not work but that generally 4G LTE speeds and network reception should be the same.
Is this a good summary? I would love any thoughts or advice on deciding between these two models.
Thanks.
Exynos International all the way, faster phone, unlockable bootloader with a couple of settings changes, more development support
I own that phone and there is no battery drain running the latest firmware
Thanks for the quick feedback. Do you run that phone on AT&T with no issues?
Is Samsung Pay usable yet on that phone?
I was in the same position and went with the AT&T version. International version (G930F/G930FD) does not have full band support for AT&T (no 29 or 30), no Samsung Pay, and no Wifi Calling/VoLTE.
I had an international S6 and would lose connection at times. The lack of Samsung Pay was also annoying. The lack of bloatware was nice but you can uninstall/disable most of them.

No, I'm in the UK, sorry didn't realise you wanted to use it on AT&T, just wondering between the two different models
If you can get full support for AT&T's services, the Exynos would be the best option
Perhaps I'm over thinking this, but I am looking to get a Galaxy S7 for use on T-mobile. I have read reports that the unlocked model (g930U) offers a smoother experience / longer lasting battery life than T-mobile model. Is this still true? I would be willing to get 930U outright, but they tend to cost more, and are much harder to find new. Have any of you had the unlocked model and changed to Tmobile? Why?
If you're into Lineage OS or Magisk, I would go with the G930F. Sure it has a worse GPU but the CPU is faster and has an unlocked bootloader for TWRP and all that. Also, it only comes with Samsung bloat so there won't be any carrier memes on it. The only downside is that there is no wifi calling or VoLTE.
Verizon will sell you a somewhat stripped down version of this phone, the One 5g UW Ace, with 64GB ram and 4GB rom, vs. 128/6 on the retail variant.
I'd like to get the retail unlocked version for slightly better specs and to avoid having all the Verizon crapware that becomes permanently embedded on the phone.
Does anyone have any real life experience using the retail version on Verizon? I am especially concerned with Wifi calling, as parts of my home absolutely require this feature.
Thanks for any input!
I am using the retail version on AT&T. The wifi calling works great.

I've had the retail phone for over 6 months and it is solid in call quality / WiFi calling (I'm on T-Mo) but if pictures are important to youm it will disappoint" the camera quality is similar to a 2014 Moto G's camera.

My interest is to have a decent phone that works with Verizon and that isn't stuffed with carrier crapware. Photos are secondary...
My Metro variant 5G Ace is currently on US Mobile's Verizon network. What I did was:
1. Input another IMEI to port my phone number because the 5G Ace isn't on Verizon's "compatible" phones list (I used an unlocked iPhone in my case)
2. Put the SIM card into the iPhone to activate the card. (My 5g Ace didn't have service right after porting, YMMV)
3. Put the SIM card into the 5g Ace
Also, I'm not able to change the preferred network type and the signal bars in the status bar change to a different design for some reason.
WiFi calling works as well.

Hi Fonewatcher, I am glad to find this thread as I just bought a plan through T-Mobile yesterday, and chose another Moto (the Moto One 5G Ace). Am not sure I have wifi calling, but I would like to know a lot more about this phone. I found an excellent tutorial to follow here, but I also like to find others that use the phone & service just for occasional tips if I get stuck.
For the thread topic I wanted to check and see how to get rid of as much bloatware, T-Mobile apps, ads. I don't believe I can actually make the phone "retail" because I know some apps I can't uninstall, like my last Moto G6 from Verizon. When I closed my Verizon Acct. I still was unable to uninstall the apps Verizon put on there. I found one video this a.m. here and I think it was pretty good on clearing off but if there is more I can do I would like to learn.

Look in the guide section here. Getting rid of TMO stuff seems to be a big part of the motivation for the writers of the guides.

I have this phone and I use Total Wireless (Verizon). Wifi calling does not work on this phone.
