official lollipop vs cyanogen mod 12 - Galaxy S 4 General

which one is better the offcial firmware of lollipop or cyanogen mod 12 for s4 ?

For me definitely CM12. Why? You have clean Material Design and clean soft. ROM is faster etc. But if you like sammy Camera and sammy sensor functions you should stay on official rom

Obviously Stock. It contains every feature

Whichever suits you best

(IT IS MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH CM AND STOCK ON I9500 I DONT KNOW IT IS TRUE ON I9505 OR NOT)
CM is a lot faster and smoother with a lot of customization that is very functional for everyday use and stock doesnt have it at all
I prefer CM for everyday use on my phone (I regret why I didnt buy a google play edition or nexus series)
but
something stopped me to migrate to CM
all version of CM on I9500 having heating issue because of charging current is high (usually 1900 mA) all the time but in stock when screen is on it is 1200mA and off its 1900mA
and it cause heating problem in CM ROM and ruin the battery life for just 8 months
in my experience when flash any of CM 12 (europhia resurrection pac man omni or any other) and use device while charging it the device temperature going up as fast as possible until u need to go hospital for your injured hand and then go to Samsung shopping center to buy a new battery

Best & most stable custom rom?

Hi!
Currently with Moto E 2015 model. Really happy with it with custom rom (really good battery life: 2-3 days with my normal use and phone is rock stable).
I thinking of getting Moto G 3rd mainly because the camera (I need good quality photos in my work and don't want to spend 300-500 euros for phone).
Are there really good quality roms for this phone? I tried to look but everyone seemed to have some issues. Mainly I need to have it stable, good battery life and camera should be working fast. I don't like official roms, I want to root the phone, have tasker with automation etc.
Really appreciate any help and replies!
I suggest holding off for now as the camera quality is worse than stock in all custom roms (the MM ones, at least) right now.
Battery life can be made better than stock by tweaking the kernel.
All major roms are stable though. The CM based roms have only one noticeable bug (it shows 'Invalid Number' when the call is disconnected from the other side)
For me the most stable ROM with the best battery life is AOSP-CAF, but it doesn't have nearly as much customization as other ROMs.
I don't think there is a "best" Marshmallow custom ROM yet, and I don't think there will be until CM13 for osprey is in the official nightly stages.

RIP CM14.1.1. What is the next best ROM?

I tend to hang on to my every phone for long, and when it's time to upgrade, I just like to slap updated ROM onto it and keep it a bit more. Problem is, It's been years since I stopped playing around with now ancient HTC Desire, so I'm all new to this ROM development jargon... again. And it wasn't like I grasped it fully before.
Anyway, CM is dead, and that was always my choice for Custom ROMs. Stock looking, feeling and performing, with just a few little touches to make ti more usable. Like the profiles that become active on different triggers.
So, now I wonder...
What is the best 7.1.1. ROM for Nexus 5, and by that I mean: good battery, performance, and stock look?
Does recovery play a huge role in it?
What about the kernel?
Anything else that I'm missing?
Youre talking about stock? Fake nexus rom.
I guess the only real stock is AOSP. Right?
Other than that, there are ones that look like stock, and those that are heavily skinned with Comic Sans fonts, weird color schemes and whatnot.
I loved CM for looking like stock, and having a few extra options that don't radically change the way it works.
I'll check FakeNexus ROM. Thanks!
Yes, AOSP is stock.
I personally use the AOSP Nougat ROM by Santhosh with blu_spark kernel and it's giving great performance and battery life.
This ROM is AOSP with some little features added like doube tap to sleep, volume rocker wake and night light
Even the green flickering issue by recorded videos is solved in the latest build in this ROM.

Is it stable enough for a daily use? What about camera and video performance?

Yes, it is stable enough for daily use: celluar data, wifi, bluetooth, location, hotspot, great performance and battery life, ...
Everything works well on this ROM.
Google Camera v3.2 takes good pictures & HDR works too on v3.2. I can record videos in 1080p without stuttering and green flickering. Pictures and videos looks sharp and clear.
For me, it's like an official update from Google

Battery on Stock Marshmellow vs All Android Nougat ROMs

I am using Stock Moto G Marshmellow and it only spend 15% battery while I am constantly using it on face book and youtube.
I have installed most of the Roms and now I had to switch back to stock ROM due to an issue which I assumed was due t6o custom ROMs . Now I have realised the issue is with proximity sensor not trhe ROMs so I want to switch back to a custom ROM but battery is my main concern. Durring last few months any Nougat base ROM I used Battery usage per hpour is between 20%-25% and this is with cpu on balanced for battery friendly. so my question is
Is there any Nougat base ROM for Moto G 2015 which spend only 15% battery per hour where comnstantly used on facebook/youtube?
Use Slim rom 7 with a custom kernel like Optimus or Squid
Before recommending SLIM, you might want to see what they have been up to lately... https://plus.google.com/u/0/+NicholasChumCDT/posts/fhMc9SzMACy
Moto may not do some things right, but they know how to optimize a rom and kernel... What you are experiencing is normal and the stock ROM/kernel combination will provide the best battery life of any custom ROM with packaged kernel you will find.
With a good quality ROM, a custom kernel, and lots of tweaking you might be able to approach stock battery life, or if you are willing to take some noticeable performance hits you might be able to slightly improve on stock battery life.
So to answer your question, no there are not.

Best nougat rom for battery and stability

Share ur thoughts guys
I have tried a few Nougat ROM's ...AEX, AICP, Cosmic, DU to name a few...almost all of them have very similar battery behavior...idle drain seems to be more compared to MM ROM's....so, if battery life is your main priority...i guess you need to go back to MM or even LP...but, of course, battery behavior might vary for each person depending on the usage..
This is a duplicate question.
Its preference, I use aosp-caf now because I don't need any feature bloated ROM. Test stuff yourself every phone behaves different
Best ROM is AOSP-CAF https://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/development/osprey-aosp-caf-7-1-1-t3576936 I have used most of Nougat ROMS and best one I FOUND CLOSER to stock Marshmellow in terms of battery life is thsi ROM. I am using thsi with nano Gapps an I have not use root an dusing it unrooted. Make suer adaptive brighness , live display and ambient display is off fro better battery .
In this ROM thread theer are extra suggestion given in Q & A post by using a Kernel Editor to save extra bettery life . I have not used that part so this may also help you more for better battery efficiency

Galaxy s7 (Exynos Dual sim - 930fd) root and rom recommendation

I switched from a Lenovo z2 plus to a galaxy s7. The switch has been a mixed bag till now.. i enjoy the camera to the core and the amoled screen..wow.. the main thing that is bugging me is the battery life i does not even last a full day and im not even using it heavily. the z2 plus used to give me a 1.5 days life on medium usage(official lineageos 16).
Could someone point me to the best rom out there(i dont mind the version) in terms of battery life.. i dont mind taking a hit on the performance.
I'm happy with the battery life and the overall experience on unofficial LOS16, but you lose all the stock Samsung apps and camera. The thread seems to be a rather mixed bag of issues and bugs, but it's largely been flawless for me.

is there any rom that allows me to keep the camera performance intact but get battery ?
imo the GCam ports quality is on par with stock, but they're rather unstable and tend to freeze and crash.
Otherwise I haven't used any Samsung based ROMs since Nougat, so I can't say myself which are best for battery.
There are many other ROMs to choose from just check the development section of the Samsung S7 thread.
Sent from Samsung S7 SM-G930W8
Could someone please point me to a custom kernel for exynos dual sim s7 running on stock oreo..
