Hi, could anyone with an S6 check for me if changing the icons with the theme engine carries over to other launchers as well? I'm not the biggest fan of Touchwiz but if I could change all the icons while using the Google Now launcher I'll actually consider this phone.
Thanks!
Not it doesn't. At least not with Sense 7. Still default icons. Also, only default app icons are themed, so changing icons like this is not really great.

I love MIUI. I love the look of the menus, I love the lockscreen, I love the statusbar, I love the browser, the music app. I just don't like the launcher. So I use Go Launcher Ex.
But I also want to change the icons. I want MIUI to use the icons that are in the .apk files, the default icons. Now MIUI uses their own themed icons, and a square around non-themed icons. I just want ALL icons to look like they look on a normal android gingerbread phone. No squares, no theme.
I've searched a lot on the internet. So far, it looks like this is the best way to do what I want:
- Download a MIUI theme (.mtz) that uses "default" gingerbread icons, and apply only the icons of that theme in the theme manager. I found a theme called "Android 2.3" (you can find it by typing in "android" in the theme manager - online themes). And hurray, it works! But only in the MIUI launcher! For some strange reason Go Launcher Ex decided to keep the square MIUI icons.
So what now? How can I change the MIUI square icons to the default gingerbread icons? How can I tell MIUI to just use the icons in the .apk files, and not their own themed icons? I'm sure it's possible, right?
When I change icons in the dock bar they do not change on my productivity lockscreen......any ideas why, or how to fix?
HTC One S, stock, 4.0.3 sense 4.0
Well I figured this out. I was changing the icons in the dock bar as you are supposed to do.....however someone with greater intelligence than me may have clued in a bit quicker that when using a 3rd party launcher you really need to switch back to the stock Sense locker and change the icons there.....I'm an idiot!
First off, I have no clue what I'm doing when it comes to creating themes, but want to modify one. I purchased the Blaque Icon theme set and love the look BUT there are a few icons they did not change. I opened up the file and noticed there are some icons I could use to replace the stockish ones. To give you an idea here's what it looks like:
The calculator, fancy widget, and a few on other screens mismatch the icons. How hard would it be to use an icon from that pack, I guess change the name so it forces the icon pack to use that?
This is for Nova Launcher Prime if that helps.
im running mickys mm rom and dont like the (new?) folder icons.
im running a rather dark desktop theme, so the icons should be darker, smaller or transparent..
i am able to change most of the other app icon via icon packs but the icons of the app folders/collections remain ugly. it might even suffice if i could change the icons color or transparacy. so far the only way is to choose a color of a handful of pastel shades for the folder itself.
any ideas? do i loose anything like the edge screen if i choose another launcher like nova over touchwiz?
Okay, I know that on MM you could literally use Galaxy Icon Themer if you were rooted to use an Icon pack and it was as simple as that. However now that Samsung are pushing the theme store on us more and more, I noticed this isn't possible on Nougat. Is there any way I can install an icon pack SYSTEM WIDE. Not just shortcuts on the home screen. I can't install the S8 apps since I get an error but either way I'd rather use an S8 Icon Pack. Thanks in advance.
Theme store icons should theme system wide so long as all the apps you have installed are supported by the icon pack
The packs that replace the icons completely will obviously need to support every app on your phone, the ones that just skin the default icons will theme them all, albeit they don't look so great
3rd party launchers like Nova launcher support a much wider range of icon packs, and they contain way more icons than the stock TW icon packs
