So it feels like 1gb ram - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So many reloads when switching back to apps....

same here. getting many app freezes, launcher and widgets redraws, sometimes i need to restart the phone to make it usable again.

Must be the memory leak that's been reported and I never experienced on the nexus 6

Lollipop pre-5.1 is prone to memory leaks in general. Samsung probably made it worse!

Neither did I on my GPE M8. But those phones run on stock Android which is anorexic in comparison to TW and the rest of Samsung's services!

HTC must've fixed it

The memory hole affected Nexus devices was traced to its boot loader animation, something the Samsung device doesn't have. Ram issues are a Samsung thing - not specifically lollipop related. I've had the M9 (5.0.2), Z3 (5.0.1) and Nexus 6 alongside my S6 Edge.
Only the Edge is eating ram like its going out of fashion. The other devices have plenty of free ram and don't have issues force refreshing content.
This is not lollipop at fault.

Internal Storage...What's the deal?

I am considering buying this phone, upgrading from the original mytouch 3g that I have rooted and loaded many a custom rom. I am not an app hog, and I tend to keep my system clean with apps I do not use. However I have heard troubling news from some people on here that the internal memory that is supposed to be at 512 mb, is actually much smaller. A poster said they called TMO tech support who supposedly told them that a fix is in the work and that this is a software issue. Please post your internal memory stats, if you can. I would like to know if this is an issue with all galaxy s 4g's or just some.
P.S. while 512 is not that great it is roughly twice as large as my current phone and I have never come close to using up all of the mytouch memory...so the 512 MB is fine for my uses.
Vibrant
This is with a ton of apps installed

4G
I don't think I installed anything. If I did it was one or two small apps. I can double-check tomorrow.
Yea, I did a factory reset on mine and had about 200MB free afterwards. If its rooted and you don't mind repartitioning your sdcard, theres ways to help the problem
I like the phone, I get 10mbs with 4G, but the small internal memory has me seriously thinking bout returning it. Its like a step back to the Evo and Nexus One. Especially when compared to my MT4G and vibrant. I probably have 250 apps on my MT4G and still have around 300mbs left. I got bout 30 apps on my GS4G and I'm down to 50mb, and that's with moving the big ones to SD.

glitch?
Yeah...it does look like a glitch in the storage. Either the phone is full of bloatware, which I think is actually at a minimum, or there is a coding error that makes it so that phone does not recognize a part of that storage partition.
If you have not, I would suggest that you report it to t-mobile, if you have this issue so that they can raise a stink with samsung to fix it.
here's a quick fix

[CONCEPT] Motorola X by Milanno Artworks

According to latest rumors, Motorola is preparing new model currently known as X Phone. For the first time we should see edge-to-edge FullHD screen on smartphone. From designers perspective I took liberty to implement some elements that could be useful, but in same recognizable in Motorola line-up. Phone should run on latest stock Android OS.

I quite like it! But, I'm never certain how the technology will allow for detection of erroneous touches - seems like that's the biggest problem with edge-to-edge

It's been an ongoing issue since the beta. Samsung was made aware but chose not to fix it.

I reported it once on the first initial one ui 3.0 and then again once I upgraded to ctl7, hopefully it gets fixed, but it doesn't seem like a priority to them. i actually just downgraded to 2.5 cause I hate the bugs they currently have.

Eventually is the time frame. Samsung took over a year to fix the Buds+ firmware. Lol not sure it's optimized even now and niether is Samsung
It probably will get fixed... eventually
Strange I'm not having this issue on mine at all. I got European version too but nordic one and my notification part is fine for me.

Samsung will substitute smaller chipsets and components during a production run if need be. Result is the firmware may not be compatible for those chipsets/components until the glitch is noticed and firmware updated to include them.
Add to that there are many variants of firmware because of different carriers and countries.

Pretty useless if you do not own one of these flagship models I'd say...
This update just popped up on mine today and I applied it (it zapped 5% of my fully-charged watch that was still on the charger the whole time!) Then the Wearable app wanted updating on the phone, so I did that as well. Seemed to work OK so far.

Yep. Fewer and fewer people care about "flagship" models. I bought an A52 5G and ended up with a very fast phone, SD card, several capable cameras, real headset jack, OLED screen, and in-screen fingerprint sensor for under $400 (a little more than a year ago). Or I could have spent, what, DOUBLE for a "flagship" with a little better CPU, case, and camera, while losing the headset jack I use all the time? No thanks.
I own the same smartphone A52s and exactly for the same reason.
Did you find a way to use the Camera Control (samsung official app) on our A52s?
I have updated the watch and now the back button doesn't work...
Am I the only one with this issue?
EDIT: ok, after a watch reset and restore it works again...
Finally rolling out for the my R890 in Denmark

I didn't and it sucks. I have to use third-party one (only camera one actually works for me), which lacks in picture quality.

Question UI 5.1.

Hello Kindly !
I would like to ask if Dear Forum Users , do You know when the update to UI 5.1 will appear ... for our Flip 4 ?
I read somewhere , that it has already appeared in India ... so maybe it will "come" to us soon ?
Best Regards - Marcin .
I read that UI 5.1 along with the Feb 2023 update should be coming soon for the Flip4.
... Ok! ... so we wait patiently .
Today I read that also this year there will be an update to Android 14 and UI 6.0 .
However , I think we will buy FLIP 5 sooner ... with these systems already installed .
Hello Kindly !
Just updated to UI 5.1.
I'm downloading !
Hello, update arrived in France but there are not all features... As the photo clipping function (present in all S23s). Is this normal?

I just updated too. It seems faster now.
Interesting. It does feel snappier. Not seeing bad battery as some on other devices have reported, but personally I feel these reports are due to people using phone more to play with new features.

I think that's a valid point .
Personally , I haven't noticed faster battery drain .
I even have the impression that it is a bit better and the phone works faster .
Turns on noticeably faster .
Of course , these are my subjective feelings .
