Hi,
Just a PSA. I'm running official stock 5.0.1 rom, rooted with the new method shown recently - I forgot the name, DP?
Over the weekend, Google updated Android System WebView app. I noticed that when you update it, a lot of popular apps will force close.
You can uninstall it without problems.
Thank you very much for the explanation because I came to this forum seeking an explanation why Handcent sms and Esexplorer stopped working a few days ago.

Hi all. I'm new, first of all my compliments for this community and the forum. I've just a question: how are notified updates of default apps like gmail, youtube, gmaps and so on? For example I find out new updates only by searching the apps in the market. Aren't default apps updated automatically? How can I find out new updates for them? Thank you for attention
Yeah they should update automatically; they always have for me.

But also for gmail and gmaps?? I had to open market and check out for every default apps. After this it has started to advise me for updates. But for example what about the music default applications? or the navigations' one? Where can I look for updates? Or will they update when new android's system will be released? I'm not sure to be clear.
Any idea?

A lot of people have been posting in the forums regarding reboot issues with the latest MIUI ROM. Basically if you did not already know, MIUI China introduced a new permissions management system into the ROM a few weeks ago, starting with the Phone and SMS permissions functions, this was then extended to the Superuser.apk as a method of License / Trust management for applications which access the SMS and PHONE functions.
As a result of this new security feature people have been having issues with third party applications such as WhatsApp, YahooIM and other third party applications. The issue being reboots on devices when receiving text messages or phone calls.
Screenshots of the steps to take upon opening Superuser:
MIUI Superuser permissions how to guide (Quick)
To resolve this issue you must first open the Superuser application and make sure that Manage permissions is enabled. Then in the list of Applications look for the third party applications which you have installed, all apps which access SMS and PHONE functions will be listed in the Superuser application, App list.
Thank you so much have been on my phone for 30-40 minutes no restart so far.

Hello all,
I'm sure you all know how many problems the Facebook for Android app has been having lately. I had a version that worked without any problems, that I could see anyway. My issue is that I accidentally deleted the Titanium Backup backup of it and can't remember which version it was. I'm pretty sure it was 1.9.2 but I was wondering if anyone had the apk's for versions 1.9 - 1.9.4 If anyone could upload those versions of Facebook for Android I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

You said it bro, Even I hate the Android Facebook app. its super glitchy.
I think 1.9.4 works kind of OK

Since FB is a free app, I suppose it's technically not warez, but I'm going to play it safe and remove the link.
Hi,
I recently updated some apps, but I either don't like the new functionality or new appearance. I would like to know how I can downgrade the app to an older version. I did a quick search, and others on XDA suggested to just search for the .apk file with the desired version.
I just rooted my phone for the first time, so I weary about installing apps that not officially from the trusted app stores. If I do end up downloading the .apk file off the internet, is there a way to check whether the app is safe (free of viruses and malware)?
I did not have a backup app (ie. Titanium Backup) prior to factory resetting, then rooting my phone. The developers have already updated the app versions and will not respond to my request for the older version, so is there a way to resolve this or do I just deal with it?
Thanks in advance!
Ps. I have SGH-T999, CF-Auto Root running 4.1.2
I found a website that only allows downloads of free apps (latest and older versions) from the Google Playstore. It claims that the apps are free of viruses, spyware, and other malware. Clicking on paid apps will redirect to the Google Playstore, so no pirating here.
This website, Appsroid.com, looks like the perfect place for me to get what I want. I googled its online reputation, and it seems legit. Does anyone else have any experience/comments about this, since you guys are all more knowledgeable about this apps/software?
Thanks!

Hey everyone I figured out a workaround for the whole Facebook forcing you to use Messenger app. This is for Android only so sorry iOS...
Go to Settings > Security and check Unknown Sources.
This is important because you need to download the apps from the web.
**BTW in case something bad happens to your devices which I'm almost positive nothing will I'm not responsible.**
Okay now delete your Facebook app.
Then go here: http://facebook.en.uptodown.com/android/old
And go all the way down to the bottom of the screen and download the oldest version of Facebook. Install it and sign in.
Now keep installing every version of Facebook from the bottom up and make sure just to click on the messages tab to make sure it works on every version of Facebook. This will let you keep the messaging option in the default app for the newest version! When an update is available I recommend you update from the website rather than the Play Store. Haven't tried it yet because there isn't an update and I don't know if it will still work.
Hope this is useful! Good luck

Thanks! I'm sure my friends will be glad to hear this!

I just use Messenger. I've been using it for as long as I've had a smartphone. I'm not afraid of the permissions. Samsung's stock SMS app requires all the same permissions as Messenger and more.
