[Completed] [Q] how to remove CARBON ROM completely and replace with NEW ROM - XDA Assist

Hey everyone,
I'm creating this thread today to try and find some much needed help regarding my rooted HTC One m7 that currently has the custom ROM CARBON installed. I have a couple ways I know how to replace it with a new custom ROM it's just that I do not want to reap the repercussions that might come with doing them the way I know how. I'm not very familiar on how to backup your personal data and apps without knowing forsure that I didn't include some bits and pieces of my current ROM inside of the backup somewhere. As i would assume if that were to happen, it would most defiantly mess everything up when restoring it back onto the new custom ROM. If someone could shed some light for me on how to completely unistall my CARBON ROM while being able to save all personal data as well. Along with instructions on how to go about downloading and correctly installing a new ROM onto my m7 and restoring my personal data back onto the phone. I would greatly appreciate any help that can be provided. I will list my m7's information below. Thank you.
Current Versions:
-Android Version: 4.3
-Carbon Version: CARBON-JB-NIGHTLY-20130916-0659
-BUILD NUMBER: carbon_m7att-userdebug 4.3 JSS15Q eng.arrrghhh.20130916.065902 test-keys
-Kernel Version: 3.4. 10-cRtS-g32d1279

That's not a custom ROM, that's the debug build from Google. You got it as a mistake. Your phone got loaded with the wrong software by Google/Samsung at the factory.
If you want to go the path of unlocking and flashing someone's nandroid backup of a "regular" phone, go to this thread.
Your best thing to do is to contact this guy from Google ([email protected]) in this thread, or take the phone back and exchange for a clean one.

[Q] Advice on firmware/Modem *Flashed Results*

Firstly thanks to such a great community, v interesting stuff here.
I need some advice., I have flashed to the following and just need clarification it looks fine and have done the correct firmware/modem update.
Model: GT-I9100
Android Version: 2.3.4
Baseband Version: I9100XXKG6
Kernal Version: 2.6.35.11-ninphetamine-2.0.5+ninpo titan#20
Build Number: VillanROM 2.4.2
Also, before i did this flash i had a MASSIVE problem with battery draining, the phone wouldn't connect to PC. Bloody nightmare, anyone heard of this?
isn't there 2.3.5 for I9100 ?
If you had a massive problem before, does it still exist? I am confused that you had issues, flashed a new rom, issues gone and want to know why your old issues were there.
A) Because the earth is round
B) Question time at your house is ironic.
C) With all that info I didn't want to get too specific.
Cheers and GL

[Q] Sensation on Cyanogenmod 10 - Mobile data problems

Hi, this is my first post to the forum so i'm really sorry if this is in the wrong section.
As you might have guessed I need some help with my HTC Sensation, I have put it on without a problem but my mobile network/data does no work.
I use mobile data a lot too.
CyanogenMod Version: 10-20120730-bruce-pyramid.
Android Version: 4.1.1
Kernel Version: 3.0.36-g7290c7f.
I'll provide any information.
Thanks,
-Delta
Please install the most current build of Bruce's rom available in his thread and the issue might be resolved for you.
However, you might check to have a current firmware 3.32 or higher, first.

[Q] Device unsupported by custom rom. anyway to install?

I'm somewhat new to the whole idea of rooting an android device, and flashing custom roms. I've rooted my phone successfully, but there doesn't seem to be a custom rom tailored to my phone anywhere on the web. Is there any way I could use a custom rom (looking at CyanogenMod) for a different device on my own?
Any and all help is appreciated.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy Centura (SCH-S738C)
Carrier: StraightTalk
Android Version: ICS 4.0.4 (Stock OS)
Kernel Version: 3.0.8-1207620 (Original Phone Kernel)

U can port ur own rom for ur device from the custom rom of a similar device with same specs if available with the help of dozens of tutorial in xda.
But you ll have to put a lot of hardwork on learning and implementing it, also have to sacrifice much of ur time. Indeed if you don't wanna do that, just wait until some devs to come up to cook rom for ur device if ur device model is new
Hit thanks rather than typing it

I think I'll take a look at some of the tutorials and give that a go. I aim to have as much control over my device as possible.

my device is not sopported cm rom. can i install cm
I have Jiake V8 and I can't find a recovery either TWRP or CMW. my device is not supported and it has Android 4.2.2 JB. Is there any other way I can install a recovery and port a custom ROM. if so can you give a clue please.

What to do? Preparation before creating new ROM for Zopo ZP990+ (MT6592)

So basically i got a little bit tired of being stuck with my good old Zopo ZP990+ and it's stock Android 4.2.2 and want to do something about it.
I dug a little bit through xda and other sites and found out that there are lots of official KitKat ROMs and custom Lollipops (Marshmallow even) for devices with the same processor (MT6592).
Some info about my model:
Zopo ZP990+ running slightly customed Android 4.2.2 with kernel 3.4.39. Got myself a TWRP so no problem with custom Recovery.
Wherever i go i see that in order to port ROMs i need to upgrade my kernel to 3.4.67 (or smth like that) so:
1. Do i really have to update kernel in order to flash custom 4.4.4 or higher? (Might be stupid question for some of you, but i just can't let go of hoping that it might run with 3.4.39 as well)
2. If i do have to then is there any way to know HOW can i update it? (Or mod it, whatever is fine with me as long as i will know how to do it or where to find info about it)
3. I also found a guide which shows how to create completely new CyanogenMod, so i was wandering whether i should go in that direction and then maybe just update that?
It seems like there is no official release of kernel source code (found something on github, but it's not official and i think it's for ZP990 not ZP990+).
Simply put i just want to ask about modding kernel, how to and what to do with it in order to get it working with better firmwares.
Thank You all for any kind of support given. If nothing is possible, then don't worry. I'll somehow deal with this harsh truth.
