[Q] Google Play problem after TWRP restore - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I noticed that if I install a new rom, setup the all thing and then I go back to a TWRP backup, I loose the possibility to install app from the browser Play Store and to locate my phone with Android Device Manager. I tried to remove and add back my google account, but it still doesn't work. I already have that with my previous phone, so it's not S6 related.
I couldn't find anything about that, I don't really know what to search for. Is it a common issue ? Somebody knows if it is possible to fix it without having to wipe ?

Problem with my new TF700 - foolishly deleted two service-apps

Hi everybody.
I have a little problem with my brand new Asus TF700 and I would like to ask if you could help me.
I just wanted to deactivate some of the preinstalled apps and services using Titanium Backup Pro, but I made a mistake by doing this.
Foolishly I completely deleted two services instead of only deactivating them (something about "asus pcsync" and "asus backup") and now I have recognized that I'm not able to use usb-devices over the dock anymore.
I think one of the two services I deleted, is needed to use that function.
Do you have any idea how I can correct that ? Is it possible to download the deleted services from anywhere and reinstall them ?
Thank you very much for your efforts.

Unfortunately it's not so easy. Titanium Backup deletes the app directly from ROM, so a factory reset will not solve the problem.
I need the files. I think there is no other way.
Would reloading the last firmware up fix that?
I'm not an xplert with this stuff...just thot a redo of .26 might repair your factory ROM.
...anyone...anyone...anyone else?
Hope you can get things back to normal...
download firmware from official website, put in SD, update. There is a link that is stick on installing firmwares

[Q] Google Not Detecting My Nexus 5

Ok so I have a weird problem that I could not find a solution googling for a few hours. I got a nexus 5 back in February. According to "My Devices" on the google play store site it was registered on Feb 25th and shows last used on Feb 27th. I have noticed that I couldn't remotely install apps from the site but haven't tried to trouble shoot it until now. Also the android device manager does not work. I am rooted but using the stock ROM. I've been using the phone itself with no problems. I get app updates, use the google+ picture auto backup and other services on the phone. The only problem seems to be that I am not linked to the google play website with the nexus 5. Anyone seen or heard anything like this?
I tried this below but it didn't work:
Open Google Settings from your device's apps menu.
Touch Android Device Manager.
Uncheck Allow remote factory reset.
Go to your device's main Settings menu, then touch Apps > All < Google Play services.
Touch Clear Data. Note that this action doesn't remove personal data.
Go back to Google Settings and select Allow remote factory reset.
Restart your device.
you might have to unselect remote factory reset to clear data in Google play services. After clear data the go back in select it again, reboot you should be good to go.

Every time it unlinked for me I just installed an App from the Play Store on my Nexus 5, and it would link again and I could install remotely through the Desktop website.
Hmmm I wish that were the case. I just installed an app yesterday after the remote link didn't work and I have tried again since. I've also removed my google account and added it back. Looks like a factory reset is in my future. Some things I've done that may have affected it:
Restore apps (not system) from titanium backup
Installed Xposed
Use of OpenVPN

Titanium Backup and Xposed should not affect it. OpenVPN, I'm not sure about, but I HIGHLY doubt it would be the cause. Try removing your Google account from Settings and setting it up again.

Titanium Backup WILL affect it - when you first loaded it on it would have asked you if you wanted to restore the device ID.
Open Titanium, press menu, chose the Manage Android ID, and restore your original ID. Then hit Market Update Helper, that will rebuild the market links.
Edit: Actually, maybe you don't want to restore - where did the original backup come from? Was it a Nexus 5? Maybe you already did restore the original, and it was from a different device??

Yeah I moved non system apps from a CM10 GS3. I thought about the Android ID as well. I generated a new one yesterday just to see if it fixed my problem. No luck. I am going to factory reset tonight. I'll post the results soon after I get everything up and running and confirm. Thanks for the suggestions.

Try re-building the market links through Tibu first.. might work?
Factory reset worked. I wish I knew what happened. I did a combination restore of my apps via the nexus 5 toolkit and titanium backup. The toolkit didn't get them all. I have not tried Xposed again. I may wait a bit and see if that was the cause.

Highly doubt Xposed would cause since I've been using it for a long time. As previously said, it was probably Titanium Backup messing with your ID.

[Q] Issues with Cyanogenmod 11 and Google Apps

Good evening everyone!
I have big issues with the Google Apps on my rooted Nexus 4. Two days ago, the standard Google apps like Google Play and Chrome stopped working. I cant load any websites with Chrome or the Cyano Browser and im not able to download apps with the playstore. I isntalled cyano with the installer and it was working great.
I searched some forums for an answer and i only saw some tips like "resync you main google account" and "reboot your phone".
P.S.: I dont want to full wipe my phone, if its possible.
Thanks guys and girls
If you haven't taken the advice of those forums, do that.
Wiping your phone probably isn't necessary. You could reinstall the apps to attempt to fix the problem, and if that doesn't work, re-flash gapps using fastboot... If none of that works, then you might have to wipe and re-flash, unless you have a backup from which you can restore.

Facebook not able to install, error -504

Hey guys and gals I've been fighting with this issue for a while and can't seem to find a way to fix it. I'm running the newest nightly for CM12 via safestrap and I've done a complete wipe and fresh install and I still can't install facebook. Tried clearing the data and cache from the google apps that were recommended via other threads.
This morning I did an entire wipe, installed stock, rooted, installed Facebook successfully, then installed Safestrap, made a new slot, installed CM, and facebook fails on install. Tried installing via Playstore as well as manually with the APK and both fail basically the same way though when doing the APK it doesn't give the 504 error.
So I'm hoping someone out there has another idea of something to try, in the interim I've been running Facebook lite, which works but notifications are unstable for me. It would be easier if I could run the normal app but it's been fighting me at every turn.
Thanks
Luke
Did you try pasting the .APK directly in /data/app and setting appropriate permissions?
Alright I figured I'd come back to this since I did end up finding a solution. I didn't try pasting the APK direct since I had read of some issues with guys doing that and having to wipe the device and I didn't want to have to do that. So I ended up using Titanium backup to backup the copy from the stock rom install that was working, and then restore it into the CM12 install and it worked. Wouldn't update via Play Store but it did work to get a functional install.
So if other guys find this thread down the road, this might be a way to make it work.
Take care!
Luke
I don't know why it wasn't working when you tried to install the apk, but sometimes happened to me something similar. I wasn't able to install any app from the PS, it always trow me an error, I don't remember the exact number, but if it wasn't 504, is really close. The only workaround was to delete my Google account and format data, and when it turned on I skipped the Google first startup wizard and went straight to the play store, and when it prompted to log on, I did and worked flawless. Glad to know that you already fixed it, but this workaround may help someone else

Virus on new phone (Protruly v10s)

So I bought one of these babies from an online Chinese website, after using it for a while, I noticed a few random apps here and there would keep installing themselves (emoji flashlight being one in particular) . I decided to scan for viruses and wouldn't you know it, there were quite a few of the trojan variety. anyway, so i decided to do a factory reset and then I installed malwarebytes to do a scan and what do you know, theres a trojan attached to a couple of the built in system apps (contacts and file manager) which unfortunately I cannot delete, only disable.
So the next step I thought was to do a clean install but it seems to be the case the phone must be rooted before this can happen - and being an obscure brand (Protruly v10s) theres nothing in the way of a guide for rooting for this particular model, or indeed even manufacturer.
so i was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts how to best manage the situation going forward, is disabling the infected apps enough or is the case the apps need to be deleted, and if so, what steps can i take to get this to happen.
thanks
Anyone?

Apk apps on file manager
Have the same issue here. Even after deleting each apk in the file manager and reset the phone. The apps keeps coming back. You can also see the apps in the file manager by using esfile manager. Select phone memory and search apk. It will show all the apps that is automatically installing in the phone. Try to delete it but it is like an ai monster it keeps respawning. Hope there are experts that can help us in these issues.

The only options I can think of are:
1) find some way to root the device and remove the problem apps completely from system.
2) if the stock firmware is available for the device, you can try downloading the firmware then extracting the firmware to get access to its content, then remove the problem apps from the firmware then repackage the modified firmware and flash it, it should no longer have the problem apps after flashing.
3) if the original firmware isn't available, you can try finding a compatible firmware from a device with the exact same hardware and try that firmware, if that firmware also has apps that are virus/trojan, remove them before you flash the firmware.

Also, if you're uninstalling the apps but they keep coming back after you reset the device, that seems to suggest that there is a hidden partition on your device that contains a copy of the system apps and it keeps restoring them from that partition when you reset the device. I have a Azpen A 750 tablet that does the same thing, I can uninstall the apps and they stay gone until I factory reset the device, then those apps come back.
It's kinda the same as the process on a Windows laptop that has a recovery partition containing a copy of your Windows system then using the "restore to factory defaults" option to reset the PC.
