As far as i can tell i have not had an shutdowns or lockups etc.. while using the LG charger that came with the G2x. I had been using the one that came with my Nexus One and it seems that almost every time i have used it, i would get a shut down or a reboot or black screen of death etc... usually at a full charge. ie i would wake up in the morning to a unresponsive phone.
Has anyone bought an extra wall charger or a Car charger that did not cause any issues? If so where? Did anyone buy the ones ("They call it a Universal charger" ) directly from TMobile? Since technically in the manual LG says to use their own charger..but i thought all manufacturers say that.
I am wondering if the one that came with the Nexus One has the built in circuitry for not letting it get to much voltage or whatever they are supposed to block. I have seen some online that say they have something built into the charger...which not having it may be the issue.
I thought the phone does ..switches to trickle charge when almost full. At least my Nexus did... but i get lock ups sometimes no where near full... with the G2x. And i get it every so often with my Car charger too.

Before you go out and buy a generic charger from Ebay, make sure you check out the miliamps on the chargers. The G2X AC charger is 1000 mA which is pretty high. My previous Samsung phone was 700mA which was less. If you buy anything that has a low mA rating it will take longer to charge. I bought a cheap generic charger from Ebay before and it was rated at 300mA!!! That's barely enough to keep the battery level the same while you use your phone or have it on. Don't use your USB plug from your computer because the mA is very low and you will run down your battery having your phone on. A good 2nd home charger is the Blackberry AC charger. They are under $5 from Amazon and they are 700mA.

...as far as I know, i have not had a "self reboot" (well no lockups for sure... self reboot you have to look for i guess...) since i began using the charger that came with the G2x as my primary charger, for overnight charging.
I also started rebooting my phone once a day when i take it off the LG charger.
And also since i did this, I have not woke up to a "unresponsive" phone where i had to do a battery pull. I was using my Nexus Ones charger as the primary charger.
And i had switched from Launcher Pro to Zeam. So i will try going back to Launcher pro for a few days and see what happens. As i thought original it was Launcher pro causing reboots and lockups. Zeam is pretty fas so if no lock ups , i am not sure what i will stick with.
Thanks for the link, I ordered one for each car. Ive seen a few Micro USB chargers locally for $10-$15 but they never list the ma on the package.
My current charger can only keep up with the N1 when not running GPS. it barely keeps the G2X steady

Trust story. I found a micro usb charger in my closet and started using it the same day I got my phone because the cored was longer. It was taking FOREVER to charge and when it was at 100% if i started using it while plugged in it would still drain to like 97%. I was like wtf everyone said this phone charges faster than others. Then I checked the specs of the charger and realized it was the charger for one of my old bluetooth headsets and the output was only 150mah .

Will it be ok to buy it or will it harm the phone and I should just stick to 1A charger?
It will work without any issues. I am using Nokia charger that is 1,5A without any issues.
Just want to make sure there's no chance its gonna fry my phone phone somehow, 2A is still 25% higher then 1.5A .
I bought a 2.1A dual charger from Fry's last night.
Freakin thing is even worse at charging than my .7A single charger is.
I'm not buying anymore chargers unless they have written reviews from people stating they work properly.

Having a power supply greater than what u need is actually a good thing, it'll provide a more stable. current, assuming its of decent quality. Your phone will only draw as much power as it needs, in this case 1A.
I will say that cheap DC power adapters appear to wildly vary in actual current delivered. I am a little skeptical of a charger sold from Hong Kong.
And, in my experience, you WILL need a full 1A of power when doing something like GPS navigation since my 750mA (well, thats what it says on it) charger can't keep up with that level of power draw.
Anyone who is good with electronics know a good way to test the output of these chargers directly?

I don't own a multimeter, but my dad always had one (that was likely older than I am) and it always seemed to come in handy. Wonder if Radio Shack still has them or if its all just cell phones and toys now...

I bought a 120V AC/DC converter for my car for charging my laptop and it also has a USB plug. Even it wasn't able to charge my phone up while I was using GPS.
So I'm going to try a stock Samsung micro-USB cable instead of the Radio Shack collapsing micro-USB cable I've been using, to see if that helps.
Just ordered the charger, 3$ is not a big hit, I'll report back in 2-3 weeks after I receive it and let you know how well it's working.

So I just got my charger today, had 1 drive with it so far with gps on and the phone actually got charged without exploding ^^

A little update:
Yesterday I had 2 drives with the phone the charger connected and the gps on, first was 50 minutes second was 35, both times everything worked great and the phone got charged.
Today as I was driving back home after the phone on with the gps and the charger for 10 minutes I received a "battery temperature too hot, stopping charging".
I can relate a few factors to this, first when i entered the car it was scolding hot, second probably the car mount was also hot and 3rd my case is really cheap and chocking.
I downloaded a battery temperature widget and I'll check the battery and the charger in a few different situations, with and without the case when the car is hot.
Edit: I checked the current the phone takes while being connected to the wall and the cat charger and they are both approx 860mA so the issue comes to the phone itself.
Overheating
When I had my Nexus One I had overheating problems.
It happened when doing all of the following together:
- connected to car charger
- gps
- navigation
- screen on full brightness
- on dashboard on very hot day
The phone was never the same after the first time it overheated (unstable). Eventually got HTC to replace the motherboard to resolve the issues.
My point being that when you do all this stuff at the same time you have a lot of current flowing through a pretty tight space with very little cooling.
I am paranoid about my i727r getting fried this way as well ... so I am constantly checking to see if it is getting too hot when I am navigating.
I'm guessing at our hot summer I'll have to cut back on the charger or the gps.
Still now before it's really hot its a good time to experiment with everything icluding pointing the air conditioner on the phone ^^

One solution could be to buy a genuine Samsung battery charger with a spare battery and charge only the spare one while driving
Look for Samsung-Battery-Charger-Stand-Galaxy
Mine arrived today, quality seems to be ok but haven't tested it yet.

Could you tell me how to check the current the phone takes without root access? My GS2 doesn't show current in widgets like CurrentWidget.
I'm coming from years of android phones and have always purchased wireless Qi adapters for them. After experimenting with several different brands of receivers over the years, I became a believer in the Nillkin brand. They cost a little bit more but they are way better built. I have always bought this receiver and have never had a single issue with mine or my wife's galaxy notes. I recently picked up a note 4 and after using it for a few days, I realized why I stay with the note brand. Absolutely amazing phone. Naturally I waited till Nillkin made an adapter for my phone and picked one up.
I placed it on charge the first night and when I picked it up in the morning, I nearly dropped it due it being so hot to the touch. That has never happened in any of my phones. Obviously something is not right with this thing.
Here's the weird thing....
I'm running "SmoothKat" rom but have a stock rooted back up. Oddly enough, when I restored to stock rooted and placed it on charge, It would still get quite warm but nothing like it was on the custom rom. I also tried turning off Fast charge option but no dice. Anyone have any advice? Is anyone else having an issue with the wireless charging making the phone hot?
BTW I'm using the TYLT Vu charger.

Weird... It has to be this Nillkin receiver. I just searched around and noticed the Nillkin receiver has a significantly larger output of 850Ma. Most other receivers are 600-750 max. Could that be the issue?
I have a couple of receiver cards too, no heat issue with them but could not get tap to pay to work.
Hmmm that's never happened to me, and I have the same Nilkin charger. Maybe something with your phone?

Very strange. It seems the issue has worked itself out. I woke up yesterday and the note was slightly warm to the touch. This morning, completely normal temperature.... Weirdest thing... its like it learned what was going on in the past few days and fixed itself.... Mind blown.

I had the same thing happen. I was using the OEM back with my TYLT, Airdock and Qi infinity chargers and it was running cool. The phone was too thick for my case so I switched to a Enpower transmitter with the original back. It was much slimmer but got WAY too hot. (I only tried it on my TYLT and decided not to F with it anymore.)

That's really weird. It may be something with our phones? I don't like the bulkiness of the oem cover so I was determined to figure out what the heck was going on. Shame I wasn't able to get to the bottom of this. Ill keep this thread updated as the days go by. I'm sure we aren't the only ones that had this issue.
Maybe they use the extra thicknesses for heat dissemination. It has a metal plate near the bottom on the inside, maybe that acts like a heat sink. I am sure their engineers did not take the decision to increase the thickness lightly, there must be a good reason...
And yes they should have baked it in by default. A flagship phone needs this built in, they were just greedy for accessory sales I guess.

I would NEVER use wireless charger on my note 4 because heat kills battery life.
I use a cheap ebay charger and wireless receiver that fits into the normal backcover...
It warms up while charging but nothing too hot. Just like charging normally by cable... Ofcourse, the cheap wireless receiver only gets 600ma max from the wireless charger.

thats just silly. the note 4 stops charging and cuts off the qi charger when charging is done. you can see the wireless symbol disconnect.

Then the fault is with the Nexus 7 ? Sometimes i pick it up from the Nokia charger hours after it is done charging at it is still very warm, even almost hot.
Tbh I wouldn't be surprised. The nexus 7 I have has lots of issues like random reboots, touch screen issues. Many people have these problems. ASUS really screwed up the 2013 nexus 7.

I know they charge slow.
But can they do any harm to Note 9?

I have a cheap off-brand slow-charging pad that heats up like a troop if I don't lay a toothpick or two between the phone and the pad to air it out. Other than the heat, if it works, it works.
i bought a Baseus whirlwind Desktop wireless charger (not so expensive abt $30) it has built in fan. connected the original fast charger and it charges phone at a above medium speed. i would recommend u to use similar or a better branded product as it may effect your battery and the phones components in the long run.

may be or may be not. i used anker wireless charger for 10 days, and now spen dies. its remote function is not working. i am not confirm what caused this but it is the only change i made in 8 months.

Charging your device wirelessly will generate allot of regardless if your charger is cheap or expensive. As Wireless charging causes our devices to heat up very quickly not matter what. Which is why certain wireless chargers have fans built into them to disperse the heat.
If it's not heating up should be fine.

I have the note9, I've tried using the galaxy (brand new) chargers (twice) which comes with the note9. It would not charge my phone at all, I'm using my fast charger from my old LG phone, I also brought an extra LG fast charger for my note9. It works, no problems. I hope this helps.

The only frustration is wireless charging. I've got 9w and 10w wireless pads. With both, after an all night change it barely charges 50%. This is with and without a case. Also, the phone does not change in my car at all (BMW built in charging pad).
My s21 ultra would charge is less than 4 hours.
What are you all experiencing? Is my phone faulty?

Encountered similar with wireless no name pad. Would go to 68%, and lot of heat.
Nice to know. Was trying to get at least a 15w pad, but don't know about heat. Is the google wireless stand the only one good for this?
Make sure you are using a Qi EPP charger.
My old Samsung wireless chargers don't fast charge the Pixel either

Im still using the wireless charger I bought for my OnePlus 9 Pro. Works perfectly, charges to 100%, and fast charging
Try a USB current device, in-line with the charging pad(s). PortaPow makes a good one, and there are some cheap-ish ones out there, you sort of have to be selective.
f you do, you'll find that some do pull an actual 10(ish)A, while others don't even come close.
The OP charger is a good one, I had a well-ranked 10A charger before, and currently a Pixel Stand. They all charge the phone quickly, IME/IMO. Quickly enough for me anyway, that part is pretty subjective, again IME.

My P7P will charge fully in about 4 hours, using 10A wireless, the handful of times I've needed it.
I'm more typically charging from 50% or so, seems like, and that takes a couple of hours. I've been using wireless charging for a bit over 10 years though, and it's far handier than plugging in, IMO.
Obviously, if your lifestyle needs are a 35 minute charge from 50%, then wireless isn't going to be so appealing.

Nope, or it's not appreciable anyway. It's charging right now, has been for a bit this AM, and it's a hair warmer than the air around it, if I lift it away and touch it (the case, it's got a decently thick Spigen case on it). I'd guess maybe 10 degrees warmer than ambient (I could rustle up my surface temp tester, from the garage, I suppose... ).
