I ran into a situation like this:
I had TWRP installed with cm12s.
Today a new update(with feature 'ok oneplus') got prompted and i downloaded it.
I couldn't flash this ota. It just booted into TWRP and nothing happens.
My question is: I have official ota update downloaded into System. But where to find it for flashing with TWRP. I need help.
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.cyngn.fota/cache/
At least that is the location that was given in the thread for the flashable OTA file.

Same happened to me also, nothing in that *fota folder, will check with my friend if he has downloaded the update, will get from him and flash it manually.

Thank you so much! The OTA installer kept booting me into recovery, and I couldn't figure out where the update file was.

If on jB you need to downgrade back to ICS ver.30 to root. or unlocked your device if you want to root in JB.
Sv: [Q] Root JB 4.1.1
Allright so there is a way to root 4.1.1 without downgrading. Good then i know it is some other issue that fails, since i have unlocked it and done the steps to root but it fails when it tries to acces data/local/debugfs persmission denied.

If you on JB and unlocked, you can't use the root tool since it's only work on iCS, you need to use fastboot to push TWRP (custom recovery), then use this twrp to flash Supersu or custom rom which is pre-rooted.
here is the intruction, start with SECTION 2

TWRP is a blob file (openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.0-tf700t.blob), you don't open this file or unzip. leave it alone, just rename this file to recovery.blob and copy it to the "install recovery" folder. This is the one you download from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1403567&d=1350299936 and unzip to your C drive. In this 'install recovery" folder there is bat file where you execute it. You need to read the instruction step by step and read slowly.
You can download 7zip from here http://www.7-zip.org/download.html to unzip zip file.

follow step 3. rootdebugfs is only work with ICS firmware. You're on JB with unlocked bootloader so it's a different method.

You are a life saver man!
I persume that these steps are done on the device when I use the supersu app, however when I open the app it says that it is missing binary, whats my next step?

Power off the device, then hold volume down and power button until you see white text displayed on the screen, now release both buttons, then hit volume up button twice , this should boot you into twrp custom recovery main menu.(you only see this if you flashed twrp correctly).

download the supersu zip file from here http://download.chainfire.eu/310/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip?retrieve_file=1 then copy to your sdcard, boot into twrp, select "install' then browse to the supersu zip file then swipe to install, after done just reboot, then launch the supersu app. You now have root. You should check out Cleanrom 3.2.1, this is a pre-rooted custom rom and it's way faster/better than stock rom.

Hey, not a problem. but consider to use Cleanrom 3.2.1. It's the best!! Since you already have TWRP you can flash custom rom or stock-rooted rom without any issue.
Hi all guys.
I've just received the OTA update 30O for my oneplus one.
What i did to my phone is: root via adb and fastboot commands, install TWRP recovery 2.7.1.0 and gain root acces with SuperSU.
I then did update my recovery to TWRP 2..7.1.1 via TWRP manager installing the supported busybox from the play store.
Is it sage to OTA update using this configuration? Ive read here on the section that some people has caused havoc by updating their phone and I just want to be safe as I use my phone for work purposes too.
Thanks yall for your help :highfive: :good:
I was on cm11s the initial build with twrp.
I adb sideloaded the official OTA the @timmaaa links in his sticky in the general section, then I rebooted, and took the next OTA which installed on its own through twrp. Then I rebooted.
So it should work for you. The thread in general has all of the instructions to adb sideload it

I only received my OPO yesterday, running 33R, and have so far only unlocked the bootloader - no custom recovery installed.
I downloaded the 38R zip file and attempted to sideload the update via ADB. Once the OPO received the file and verified it, this is the message that appeared on the screen:
Installing update…
Assert failed: apply_patch_check (“ /system/framework/apache-xml. Jar”,”f2c5874e0d3470ec141b3b513b0d894962c6ec59”,”5d4e75d4acb11d35411447716cf18d7ffc175909)

Is there anything I can do - or do I have to wait for the OTA update?
Thanks,
F
You don't need to sideload the update, you can just flash it in TWRP recovery.

First of all, you need a custom recovery. You can't do this using the stock recovery.
Secondly, download the ota update with modified script. Did you flash my smooth scrolling mod? It says you've done changes to Apache-xml that's why it's failing. If you download the modified ota then it'll work.

We're impatient people ... and just so you know, the OTA can take weeks for the OTA to finally arrive.

Because we don't want to, don't need to, we have the choice and ability not to. Nobody is forcing anybody to update manually. Just like nobody should be criticising us for doing it.

Will updating affect root?
Sure, you need to re flash root

Use Nexus Root Toolkit that allows you to download and flash the original image of the version you prefer
if you flash the image from a rootkit, wouldnt you have to start from scratch?
heres the update its only 10mb -

Yea side loading or using Wug's tool kit wipes everything I ended up just doing it that way. After I installed the stock image I tried installing xposed and it failed me and caused boot loop so had to reflash again @[email protected] this update was painful I'm now finally back to working normal minus xposed :/

Flashfire does not seem to work right without SuperSu, at least I had the same experience as you. I flashed back the stock recovery and let the normal updater do it's jobs.
It doesn't seem to care that a custom Kernel and magisk is installed, worked perfectly.

Sent from my SHIELD Tablet K1 using Tapatalk
I find it easy to flash the full update through TWRP.
Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using XDA Free mobile app
I flashed successfully using TWRP as well, and everything is working fine.
Just downloaded the version posted here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74693612&postcount=6
Then booted to TWRP, flashed the file, then flashed Magisk (or SuperSU if you prefer) to root. Root before rebooting after the update, otherwise TWRP may be replaced with stock recovery.
I did backup using Titanium, before updating. Your data should remain intact. But it's good to backup beforehand, just in case.
You do not need to download images from the site. Simply allow your tablet to download the update. Once downloaded, it is located in /system/data/data/com. nvidia. ota/app_download - move it to /system/sdcard/Download, run the tablet in recovery and flash the downloaded zip file.
