I seem to be having some trouble transferring all my old stuff from my micro SD to my new Samsung brand SD. I just got a galaxy s5 and am using a 16g card which is full and I purchased a 64g samsung card from Verizon. I took the card from my phone and copied the data using USB reader on laptop to a file. Then I insert new card and drop the data to the new card. Here is where it gets weird. When I put the new card in my phone it deletes my DCIM stuff and corrupts any new photo I take... Why is this happening...?
Format the new card and do the transfer again. If the problem persists, either your SD card reader is broken (I have had problems before with cheap readers. Don't buy cheap readers) or the card is broken.
Thanks I tried everything there it to try, I think the card is a fake. Got it off eBay in a sealed packege but the packege didn't seem very authentic. Payed $15 for it.

Hey everyone,
Im not sure whats going on but my 16gb micro sd card is acting strange. My TF doesnt recognize it at all (not while running, not in recovery, etc) but if I put it in my sd card in the dock it will see it. Also, when I put it int my computer it sees it when I am using a sd card adapter.
I have tried other micro sd cards and they work fine in ym TF, so im thinking its something with the card but not sure. Anyone have any ideas what I can do to make my TF see this micro sd card?
Well the first thing you should try is reformatting it to fat32.
Its weird it works in the dock though ...
ya i tried reformatting it but it still doesnt recognize it
I have the same problem, since today my micro sd card is not shown anymore. I did not do anything with it before, not even removed it or whatever...what can I do to be able to use it again? :-(
Im not sure....i have tried everything but thinking that its the card itself since I can use other micro sd cards just fine. Sucks since that was my 16gb card. Im going to keep trying and if I find anything then I will let you know.
Is it any card or a specific card that doesnt work?
Alright, I want to remove a micro SD card from a phone. I know this will wipe the phone, that's fine with me. The problem I'm having is that no other machine will recognize the SD card now. I did some research, and it sounds like once the sd card gets paired with the device they "become inseparable." Is there any way to fix this? I want to use this Micro SD card on my new Surface RT, so this is extremely annoying.
Use old Nokia's Symbian-based smartphone (like E-Series or N95) to reformat that card. There is no other (confirmed) way.
BTW, sdcard are really cheap now; you may easily find a 16GB micro-sd for $10.
My 9-month-old Transcend 32 GB micro SDHC card has gone tits up.
One day, Android just flashed up in the corner: "SD card is blank or has unsupported filesystem."
I have a micro SD-to-USB converter and when I plug that into my PC and double-click on the drive, Windows tells me no disk is inserted.
If I insert the micro SD card into a micro SD-to-SD card converter and that converter into a laptop's card reader, Windows asks me to reformat the drive. If I choose OK, the top box ("Capacity") shows 30.6 MB, so I haven't formatted it yet.
Any ideas?
From your PC's command prompt, run check disk with the fix switch enabled (chkdsk /f) on the drive assigned to your Micro SD/USB. I get that same issue with my 32gb SD card too sometimes, and check disk has never failed to fix it.

It's a common problem with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 tablets, corrupting or destroying microSD cards. It's possible the cards are getting hot and self-destructing.
ONLY use a brand new industrial temperature grade card good for -40 to +85°C and it should be more reliable. To avoid getting a repackaged, defective, used, or counterfeit card do not buy from an online 3rd party, only buy from the manufacturer, "Sold by Amazon" (not an Amazon 3rd party seller), or a franchised brick-and-mortar store like Best Buy.
Repackaged, defective, used, and counterfeit microSD cards are everywhere and everywhere. It looks new but it isn't.
i formatted a sandisk 64gb micro sd to put into my tablet and start copying files to the micro sd via the memory card reader, there is nothing on the card prior to transferring the files but as soon as the green bar goes up it cancels and gives a 0x80070037 error with unrecognised device and prompts me to check the micro sd for errors, i proceed to do so and it finds nothing, i retry a couple of times and i get the same error, i try different memory card readers and cables and they all give the same error.
i then attempt to transfer my files while the micro sd is in the tablet and surprisingly it's transferring the files fine, i'm a bit confused by that and i was wondering if anyone can give some hindsight as to what is going on?
there is obviously a problem with the micro sd because i can't get any data on it while it's in the memory card reader and i will have to get a new micro sd card eventually, i'm not buying anymore sandisk memory after this, reason why is because my 32gb micro sd also by sandisk has the same problem, both brought within 9 months of each other, that's £60 down the drain, for now the 64gb will have to do till i buy a new micro sd card but this is just ridiculous, i wasted 4 hours trying to sort this problem out with no progress and i'm exhausted, any ideas or solutions would be helpful.
i've tested my usb ports extensively (so it can't be the usb ports causing the problem), and formatted the sandisk micro sd cards multiple times (to no avail), i've tried 2 different usb drives, and 3 different micro sd cards from samsung and a no name brand and they transfer the same data fine, but as soon as i plug in the sandisk and transfer the data to them i get the errors so i've pinpointed out where the problem lies, i just want a solution to sort all of this out so any help would be grateful.
if i get any changes in the situation i will update in this topic.
Just a update, contacted amazon and will be getting a refund for both micro sd cards, thanks god for that, won't be buying SanDisk ever again after that.

Unreconized device is it has lost connection to your tab. I've had the same problem. Installed a new usb 3.0 card and plugged into that, and the problem went away. if you watch my computer you will see your device disappear and reappear.

i tested out both micro sd cards on a memory card reader not from the tablet and the data transferred fine when the micro sd card was installed on the tablet, amazon have agreed to refund the 64gb sandisk but not the 32gb micro sd unfortunately i'm going to buy a usb 3.0 memory card reader and see if i get better results with the 32gb micro sd, not confident that i will though, just going to use the 32gb for something else till it dies, nothing else i can do with it, they can't replace it because it's over a year old and i left it too late.
just plugged in the 32gb micro sd card now and the memory card is not disappearing and reappearing in my computer like you said, the only time i get problem is when data is copied to it then the device disappears.
I thought it was interesting that a 128GB MicroSD card I bought works flawlessly with this phone. The phone handled all the formatting and showed no problems to note. I was able to transfer over 40GB using the phone and SMB transfer no problem. This is the brand in specific.
