[Q] Free space for user apps on Z3/Z3D/Z3C - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, Z3 users! I am willing to buy one of the Z3 variants but I can't find one information which is really important for me. On my Xperia T, I have only a 2GB partition for apps (apk and data) and on Lollipop it is really hard to have just a few apps installed and not to have a low memory notification even if most of the apps are moved to external SD card. Both phones have 16GB of internal memory but I can't find ANY information about a partition specifically for user apps on any Z3 variant. I had Z3D in my hands with 4.4.4 installed but when I tried to check how much space is for "Downloaded" apps, it showed ~900MB used and ~11GB free... On my Xperia T, on CM11 but also on 4.3 it was showing ~2GB of total space for downloaded apps... So it seems I can even have 7GB of apps installed on Z3 and it won't show "Memory low"? That'd be great, I won't be waiting for Z4... I am confused...
So is the user apps space and internal memory literally joint together or what?
Thanks in advance!

Total you have about 11GB available, warning comes when 75% are full. On Lollipop you can move apps to SD natively so storage should not be really a problem.

True, but what also is true is that after every reboot the moved apps are not totally functional for at least ten seconds.

Thanks, so it's totally different than on my device. Thank you!

[Q] Moving app data to SD card without root

Okay so this topic must be very common. I have the Moto E but since this is a software related question which is pretty much the same on Moto E and G, I chose this place.
Not everybody wants to root their phone. And I'm one of them cuz I dont want my warranty be void.
Ok, so the Moto E has 4 gigs of internal storage out of which only 2 gigs is available. Well, that's nothing. It filled up just like that in no time and I didnt even have any idea on who the hell used it up expect some small apps and games (Max. 50 megs in size). I just restored the phone to factory setting and decided to start from the scratch.
Now my phone has nothing expect the default apps.
Now comes my question. I can move the app to SD card but the data remains in the internal memory. Is there any possible way out there that would let me move the data part to SD card as well? I found lots of stuff ion the internet searching for this but nothing worked. I followed this tutorial: http://karthikkn.wordpress.com/2013...ard-on-your-android-phone-without-rooting-it/ but what it basically did is setting the default install location to SD card which did work but is pretty much useless I guess cuz its the same as manually moving the app to SD card. Date still resides in the internal memory.
I repeat my question, is it possible to move the data to SD card without rooting the phone? This is really annoying cuz I'm that kind of a guy who would love to install loads of games and apps but would really hate it if this space problem prevents. I have a 32 gig class 10 memory card with me already mounted.
Another question is: After updating the default app like Play movies, Play games, Youtube, Maps and all, the internal memory space was rapidly consumed. Tapping on "Uninstall updates" restores the space. I wonder how can updates take same amount of extra space which is equal to the size of the download? Arent updates meant to "replace" the existing version? So that shouldnt take much space I guess? But installing an update takes the same amount of space as that of the download size which is quite absurd. Any comments to justify this?
The moto g has no SD card slot. So you probably won't find any help here...
Ok please delete this thread, I posted in the wrong section.

[Q] Run apps from USB-OTG?

Hello to everyone!
Like many other Moto G users (especially those that have 2013 8GB model), I'm in trouble with the low space issue: I have stored like 1,5GB of photos/video and I have installed at the moment 63 apps, between default ones and someone downloaded by me, which in total they occupy about 2,8GB . As you may know, since the capacity of internal storage is approximately 5GB I'd like to gain more free space without deleting photos, video or any other personal data, so I was wondering if it's possible to install apps on USB OTG devices, or at least find a way to let the apps recognize as OBB data path the external usb storage. I've read on the Nexus' section of xda-forum (this link) that it's possible under specific circumstances... Can it be the same for Moto G? I still haven't tried it because I'm willing to buy a pendrive, with dual connection USB/microUSB, as soon as possible.
Otherwise, can anyone suggest me a better memory management system? At the moment I have the original ROM (EU 4.4.4) not rooted waiting for the Lollipop OTA update
Thanks in advance to everyone who reads this,
have a nice day!
I was also wondering the same.
Unfortunately found nothing.

[Q] Benefits of rooting the E3

Hi all!
Ignoring the use of root-only apps, I was wondering how much benefit people get from rooting the xperia e3? In other words, saved space or performance enhancements....Not app accessibility.
I'm especially interested in how much internal storage can be freed up. I'm always running low on internal storage, despite transferring everything possible to the SD card.
I hope this thread is not considered too trivial. I have heard about the benefits of rooting in general but I'm wondering about how well it can fix some specific issues I have with this phone.
I haven't rooted before, as I am not interested in root only apps, but this might be my first root.
Thanks in advance...

Mhh By rooting my E3 I could install and play DH4, Summoners war, Brave frontier and respawnables at the same time without deleting data from apk or even uninstall one of them.
I can use customized audio mods, kernel/CPU/GPU tweeks and some other stuff like this
About saved space I got all the crap out of my phone (all google things, all sony bloatware, operator bloatware and so on...
Performance enhancements? By getting down CPU freq. using another governor, I can hear music (with phone speakers, no headset) on my work the full day ( from 7:00 am to 7:00pm for exemple) and being over 40% of battery when I come to home
I believe there are some other benefits there to root your E3 but I just can't remember which or I just don't found yet all other benefits ^^
PS: I hope you understand that all, I learnt english only from gaming, so please be indulgent

Hi
What can I do to free 1,3 Gb in the internal sd?
I sent many apps to the external sdcard except the google stuff, now I have 800 Mb free.
But I think I don't need the paid content of Sony and many others, but I don't know what to delete before I make my phone to be a brick.

Only 11,5GB of memory?

Hi at all guys.
I have a lot of problem with the memory space of my z3
Using Diskusage, i saw that not only I have only 11,5GB of memory(instead of 14,9), but I also have 2,3GB of system data.
For a total 6GB of system apps, not counting the useless google apps for example.
Is that norma? I only have hearthstone on my phone, and i costantly have problem with the free space!
I think it's normal actually. When I get home I will check

It's normal bro, sony rom takes a lot of memory space.
There's a way to remove some bloadware without root? Like with some app? Or with the upadate to Android 6.0
Yeah sadly it's normal. Even with the marshmallow Sony Rom I have 11.5GB free
i'm fine with 11,5gb. But other than that, there are other system data + bloatware that you can't uninstall :/ I think I have something like no more than 5/6gb that i can use

SD card as internal memory - will all apps use this including system?

The Moto E 2 seems like a good phone but with a somewhat small internal memory of 8 GB. But as it has Android 6 I thought it could work by just adding an SD card as internal memory.
But I can't find a definite answer whether this additional memory will really be undistinguishable from the "real" one. Some people wrote you still have to move apps to the new memory, some even said it only works with apps where the devs allowed it (i. e. hardly any at all). Also it seems system apps cannot use the additional memory which would be another major drawback on an 8 GB phone.
Can someone who already done it please tell me how the additional memory will be used? Can system apps be moved, can all user apps be moved, will data such as whatsapp videos be moved? Thanks.
Sorry for bumping... has nobody an idea?
The phone will see the storage as one instead of two. So will the PC if you connect the phone to it.

Yes, you can add a SD card but android OS doesn't really like SD card, your media, app won't run smoothly.

You can move your app, game data, media (img, music, video,...) to SD card very hard but forr app/game data, it won't run 100% as it used to be on internal storage.
My recommendation is to find other phone with more storage if you want to enjoy some apps/games with big size or move all media to Sd card but app/game data.
Have fun!

This is a phone for my mother. She needs more than 8 GB but wants a phone the size of Moto G or E. Apparently there are none that fit that criterion other than some Samsung phones and those are pricey. I like Motorola but their new 16 GB phones are all 5" or more. And the older smaller Moto X or G aren't available anymore.
As much as I disliked Steve Jobs, I 100% agree with him on his opinion towards screen size...
