There's ES File Explorer installed. Update to latest version in market if needed.
Open up app
Press Settings
Scroll down to root settings...
Check Root Explorer and Mount File System. If you fail to check Root Explorer, update to latest version of ES File Explorer in market.
Now that you got root explorer mode...
Press back till you go back to the file explorer.
Press the Sdcard looking icon on the row of icons. Its the leftmost icon in that row of 6 icons.
After you've pressed it, click into system folder
Next, click into etc folder
Next, click into init.d folder
You will see two files in there.
Hold down on the file (whichever first doesn't matter), then press properties.
Click Change in the permissions section, and then check everything.
Press Okay and repeat for the 2nd file.
After you are done, restart the phone.
After phone is restarted, go check to see if the permissions are changed.
thank you very much for the detailed instruction. i love this forum i tried em and it works

Tutorial to free up some phone space[ROOT]

Some system apps are double installed because they are updated. This ensures that there is a large part of your phone memory is lost. I'm going to explain how you can fix it.
#1 Move your system apps to your phone memory (if you had not already done)
#2 Download ''ES FileExplorer (1.5 CupCake)'' from the Google Play(free)
#3 Open it and press the ''Menu button'' navigate to settings
#4 Enable Root explorer and Mount file system as writable (see attachments)
#5 Navigate to /data/app and copy the apk of the app you want to update
#6 Navigate to /system/app and remove the old apk from the app you want to update
#7 Paste the apk
#8 Press and hold the apk you've pasted and tap: "Properties"
#9 Press change and change it like the screenshot(attachment)
#10 Reboot your phone and the app is updated
Update apps 1 by 1.

[FIX] KITKAT Security FC

First, you need ROOT access to do this. It will fix the security force-close and enable the uninstall of apps.
1 - Download FIXV2 here - http://d-h.st/gMh
2 - Extract the file to your desktop and copy the files inside "FIRMWARE\IMAGE" folder to your phone.
3 - Download root explorer from play store and move those files to the firmware\image directory located on your phone.
4 - Long press each file and set permition to RW-R-R (0644) (You do this by selecting OWNER to read and write, GROUP to read and OTHERS to read.
5 - Reboot and try accessing settings.
Thanks to ferreinf for the link and how to do it, I just tried to do this as much newbie proof as possible.
have seen this problem in numerous ROM threads(haven't myself run into this), thanks for the heads up :thumbs up:

No, it has nothing to do with what you want and there's absolutely no point in doing what wanna do either. You can not reclaim the free space to yourself and that would yet prevent you from installing OTA updates. The best way around this is to unable the system apps you don't wanna run.

Worked for me to get the nexus g+ rom working fully... used root browsed in ROM Toolbox to copy the files to the relevant folder off root, and set all the permissions to rwx.

[Resolved] Unfortunately Setup wizard has been stopped [rooted devices]

This is a small guide for those who are facing problems after performing a factory reset and can't get through the process completely and end up getting error "Unfortunately Setupwizard has been stopped" and stuck with no launcher but only status bar with a limited access to some of the settings.
First of all the things you need to make sure are that:
1. You have a rooted device with superuser installed.
2. You have root explorer installed as a system app.
3. And a little patience to follow all the steps
GUIDE
1. Send yourself a sms message or from any other phone while you are on setup wizard.
2. Open the message and in tap in the reply box.
3.Once you have your cursor in the reply box hit menu soft key and select attach or if u r using galaxy phones you have a paper clip button for the attachments.
4. Choose anything you want to attach for example a picture and a box will appear asking you for the application to select the picture from. It is usually Gallery or file explorer (in your case Root Explorer). Select the root explorer.
5. In root explorer hit Mount R/O button and grant root explorer superuser permission.
6. Find in the folder system/app/setupwizard.apk and delete the apk file.
7. Reboot and Enjoy your phone again!
