Like when you use applications and they automatically turn the status bar black. Is there a system file I can edit to change the default color to something like a green when I'm opening certain applications that use the black bar? I really don't want to put up with seeing burn in where the status bar is in the main UI or watching videos or something like that.
Depending which app some apps automaticly make the statusbar the color of the app ( Facebook blue , latest WhatsApp green etc etc )

For you it does that? I thought it was only apps Samsung or Google programmed to follow the Material Design guidelines. My pre-installed Facebook and Whatsapp just use the standard black bar when they're opened.

Hi...
A question??
How i can change the background Color / from browser.apk ??
I have a transparent statusbar, and when i run the browser is the status bar white.
as the name of the browser background in the framwork-res is file?
thanks for reply
Greetings
pza
i doubt that it is in framework-res.apk
check browser.apk and i don't think that it will be a .png. I am pretty sure its a .xml file you will have to edit.
that just looks like a bad status bar background PNG within the framework-res.apk.. (thats just for the dodgy lookin status background with the android pic) not sure about the very top bar thing
When ever you make status bar background transparent, not only browser other apps like market will make kind of ugly look on the notification bar.
This is because behind the transparent notification bar these items operates. since notification bar is transparent you will see it. for instance , if you have semi transparent black notification bar, you will see ugly gray outcome. that a side-effect..
Go and edit framework-res.apk / res/drawable-hdpi/statusbar_backgroundxxx.png
and make it solid.
Hope this is what you are looking for.............
I think the background for the status bar while in the browser is the web page you are viewing at the time.
So if you view a dark page it should look ok. Give your Google a dark theme and see..
You could do like Shiwantha said and make it solid or just make it less transparent and more opaque.

I googled whole day and didn't find the solution for the simple thing. How can I hide the preview of the message from the status bar? Seriously, what is the purpose to install app for blocking apps from the opening, if everything could be spotted from the status bar? SMS, Email, Whatsapp, etc. - just swipe down, and here the "private" content! Is there any app, mod, module (you name it), which will show notification icon only without possibility to read its content?
Thank you for attention!
Hi everyone,
I've got the E4g (sorry if I post here but it seems there isn't a thread for this phone in XDA, yet) and I've noticed the background color of the navigation bar (when no apps are opened) in the home page is black. It's not transparent as all officials Sony pictures show (e.g. http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/phones/xperia-e4g/ ) and/or various videos on youtube.
No special themes installed. Just the original blue.
In other sections like VIDEO/MUSIC/ALBUM (preinstalled apps) the navigation bar is transparent.
So the black color is "only" in the home page.
Moreover, I had the possibility to "play" also with another E4g, with the same Android version (and no root and various custom apps not installed), and the navigation bar was transparent...
If I'm not wrong, there shouldn't be any option in display configuration/personalization I can set in the menu in order to change the color.
If I try clearing data in xperia home app will I lose some setting I've already set?
The device is updated to the latest version 25.0.A.2.14 (Android 4.4.4) but this nav bar was black also before the update.
No rooted device.
Thanks and bye

Nobody?
I have installed a white theme that i really like but now the text from status bar can't be seen as it is also white. Is there any way without root to change text colour or background? Changing the theme picture top could also be an option if i could find it and paint it dark but it's downloaded from theme store. Can it be found and be modified?
Did you find a way around this?
I once had an app called super status bar installed. It doesn't affect the original status bar (because AFAIK that's not possible without root) - but it replaces it completely and you can customize it then freely.
There are probably several other status bar replacement apps on the Play Store too, there should be something fitting for you.
I'm not sure if this equates to "broken" but after whatever recent update happened (maybe a gig update?), all my notification icons are all the same green blob and they aren't respective to their own app anymore.
I tried to clear the cache partition but no luck fixing. Any ideas how to get those regular icons back? (Image attached)

It's by design. The notifications follow the Material U color if you apply it to Icons.
You wither don't apply the colors to the icons (when setting it via wallpaper and colors) or you apply it and get themed icons everywhere.
