128GB SD Cards known to work - One (M9) Accessories

I did a search and did not find anything and thought it worth having a thread on this topic.
Just bought the Samsung EVO 128GB and it seems to be working fine.
It came in yesterday and when I went to get the link below it already dropped from $97.00 to $86.00
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-128GB-Adapter-MB-MP128DA-AM/dp/B00P3NMVVU

This SD card works across every device I've bought in the past two years.

I bought the Lexar 128 High Speed Card. I will post if it works, but I already know it would. Why? Because Android is the dictator of storage support. I remember putting a 64GB card in the phone that "Supported" "Up to" 16GB. So I don't believe that stuff.

Exactly. All I know is that Samsung made me sick when they took away the SD Card Slot.

Never mind 128GB cards. I want to know more about these non-existent 2TB cards our M9 supports!

Right?
But on a realistic note, makes me wish I bought the SanDisk 200gb...
but my 128 is plenty so far

I have the Lexar 128 GB UHS-3 Card. I benched using A1 SD Bench and got 62mb/s Read, 21mb/s Write.

I have the 128 GB Lexar card as well and it works perfectly fine for me...
Hope that helps.

I just ordered one recently, you would be surprised on how quickly space can be filled up by back ups , if you decide to back up the OS every time you flash/make changes.

Pictures, videos, I take a lot of both. Music maybe depending on my mood.

It is a lot of space, way more than enough for the average person. Especially when you add the 32 GB on the phone itself. That gives you 160 GB.
I think its more of the comfort in having all that space available to do whatever you want with it.
I have 75 GB of music on mine along with a bunch of pictures and videos.
So it makes sense for me.

That's why I didn't buy the S6. The only reasons I'm still using the S5 over the M9 right now are the fact that there's no battery case for the M9 and the S5 can record calls automatically.

Yea the S6 would have been my choice... but no, it's $750 for a nice phone, but no micro SD???
it's $650 for M9 and has micro SD, so i got that instead.
Why? Think about it, you have to transfer your music+videos and stuff everytime you buy a new phone if you don't have micro SD and kept it all internal. Not fun.
plus, why not 32GB + 128Gb or oooo, 32gb + 200GB!
Why not have the option to add more space?
for the record i'm using Sandisk UHS-I 128GB micro SD.

Good Quality MicroSD 16Gb - Class 6

cheers mate, gonna order one today. i have a 32gb class 6, but it has been giving me problems. DHD keeps unmounting sd card and then when sd card mounts again it says Read Only sd card. I think the sd card is faulty because other sd cards work fine.

I've had issues with cheap cards in the past, but this seems really good.
It's a totally unbranded card, but the card test window using H2testw on eBay is spot on. 9.85Mb/s write speed is very quick for a Class 6, almost a Class 10.

I ordered one around 10th November on their website along with PHILIPS headphones and I received only the headphones . Last Friday I contacted them just to check if they have sent the memory card and still waiting for an answer. This is the first time something I bought over the internet is not delivered. I guess they should've used some kind of tractable service for their international deliveries. It doesn't cost that much more and the customer is paying for the postage anyway...

Wow, and I have thought that kingston is the best. Even if you shell money for kingston it appears it;s not problem proof.
Btw, is there real difference between stock model and 6th or higher class in playing movies or reading large documents?
Yes you do notice a different in files loading up from sd card not so on films and quicker in transfer of files from pc to phone.

I've got a strange 4gb card lying around in my house...no one knows where it came from lol. Anyways, in Windows, it writes at around 20mb/s average. Reading speeds are around 50mb/s...very strange. I don't use it because I now have a 16gb class 4...which writes around 4 mb/s....the 4gb says Class 4 on it but it's 5 times faster than that!

Micro SD card deals

I went looking for a microSD card over the weekend and was really disappointed in the prices I found. A lot of the deals were already sold out at Fry's and CompUSA (Tiger Direct).
I'd like to start this thread to help others (and me ) find the best deals on expanded memory for our phones.
Any good finds?
This 16BG class 10 card was on sale this weekend at Fry's for around $10, but it was gone by 9:30 on Saturday morning.

AmazonBasics cards are cheap and great quality
You may want to look into getting Sandisk branded cards instead of just any old card.
Some of the class 10 cards out there have atrocious small block random read/write speeds, and that has been a major issue for the Nook Color world. That being said, we aren't running a complete OS off the SD card on our skyrockets, but even running apps off the card may cause speed issues.
Nook Color SD Card Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1005633
All of the benchmark data in that thread summarized into a google docs spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjPE3ZAD2eVudE9vZmQ3aHlfTkFvU2J4ZUplRDJQTEE
I can't vouch for any cards other than what I've seen -- Class 10 Patriot, Class 10 A-Data, 3x Class 4 SanDisks, and an unmarked SanDisk. Everything (including the unmarked SanDisk) except for the Class 2/4 SanDisks were atrocious in running a SD card based OS on my Nook. My Class 4 SanDisks benchmarked somewhere between 20x and 40x faster than the other cards for small block writes.

This is not the first time I have heard the Sandisk 64Gb microsd works after a reformat. Now they are down to $150 for a class 6 and I am seriously about to try one out.

Keep the 16GB or return for the 32GB?

I have been torn about keeping the 16GB or getting the 32GB. I just don't know what to do. I have used a large amount of storage on the 16GB already and my 30 day return is up tomorrow. Any suggestions?
See the thread int eh android development section about Apps2SD that you can run without rooting or anythig. The author is TweakerL. Look it up.
Return for 32 imo. Unless your a pop the collar with your hat turned backwards kinda guy. Then keep the white.
I faced the same dilemma and decided to switch from 16gb to 32gb... If not it would have bothered me.
The only thing I miss is the White color...
I don't have the white one.

I don't view $50 as loads extra. Plus no matter how big your microsd card is you'll always have 16gb less with a 16 vs 32 model.

Availability of the 3G 32GB version is a problem too, at least in Europe. No 3G, no tablet for me personally.
I ordered (and have been using) the 16gb in white for 2-3 weeks, and just decided yesterday to order the 32gb in deep gray, instead. Although I try to store all of my media externally, I use up that space quickly. At the same time, I find it to be a PITA to swap things between internal and external, such as backups and ROMs. I don't mind paying $50 more for twice the memory, but I wouldn't have paid much more than that at all.
As for the color, while I like the white, I'm not fond of the silver/gray borders; I think it makes the device look kinda cheap, like a toy, though I do like that it resembles my Skyrocket. However, the border on the Skyrocket is not only a lot slimmer, it's chrome, which is much more appealing to me. I wish they had done something similar in this case.

All 64GB cards show as 59GB. It happens with all storage devices. That's to do with the fact that you're never going to get the full amount that you get told you will, because a portion of that memory is actually being used by the storage device for information pertaining to its self.

It shows as 59GB mainly because manufacturers give the storage sace in 1000s wile your tablet counts it in 1024s.
I looked at this for mine and decided to go for the 32 gb model since DRM protected movies cannot currently be moved to the SD card.
Google Play phone support guy advised that they have rec'd a lot of requests to enable this, so perhaps in the future it won't be an issue.

SD card suggestions.. Please help.

At the moment I have a 32gb ultra SD card in my s4. The SD card is damaged for whatever reason. So I was wondering, what's the best type of SD card for me to get. I spent 20$ on my sdcard. So I'm willing to spend the same amount more or less.. Don't need anything more than 32gb or probably anything over 16. Of course the more the merrier.
Thanks in advance.

I got sandisk 16gb from amazon. Paid a good $22 for it. Around the same time, bought samsung 16gb micro sd while it was on sale for my tablet.
Three months into use, sandisk just stopped working. All the photos I took over the period of three months lost with it. Mind you, I'm not tech- illiterate, so I attempted different methods to recover my data with no luck.
Contacted sandisk, and received a new micro sd through warranty. A months into use, it failed again. Luckily, I had backed up my photos with dropbox, so no real losses except wasted time.
Didn't even bother to file warranty and tossed the sd out.
Been using samsung microsd for good six months with no problem.

If you search the forums, you will find that MANY people report (and I experienced it too) that any card other than a Samsung can be problematic. I have a 32GB Class10 card from A-Data or Kingston or some other major name and it worked fine in my Atrix for a year or so. Got my S4 and put the card in it. Regularly and routinely, the phone would "lose" the card or claim it needed formatting because it was "damaged."
My Samsung card has had zero issues. You should be able to get a 32GB Sammy for about $20.

Here on XDA there are significantly less problems with Samsung SD's compared to Sandisk. Especially using the larger (64GB for example) sizes.
When using an SGS4 and in need of a large card simply use the Samsung one. And format it Fat32 when not in need of files >=4GB. Best combo of compatibility.
IMHO, of course

I am using the same SanDisk Ultra 64Gb same as you, though the first one that I bought gave me a lot of problems (Constantly ejecting, then eventually, the phone no longer recognizes it.) Then I bought another 64Gb and I never had any problems from there.
It seems that those having issues with Sandisk probably got theirs from a faulty batch that Sandisk even admitted.

Ah thats the fella I have in mine.
If you need insane amounts of storage, you really CANNOT go wrong with a Samsung one:

I agree with Lightning here, the Samsung EVO is the best bang for the buck. This is what I have in my phone:

If you want something faster (for say shooting HD video), there is the EVO+ and the EVO Select as well:

There are many people who buy them just to test them and theyll list their real world results in a transfer speed rating

I presume you mean 256 or whatever it is. I've the 64 gig one. Seems grand. I'm only new back on android after a few years on iPhone. 64 is plenty for me . 128 would be cool just to show off. We don't have cyber sales here in Ireland that I know of.
No. The 200 gig card is what I was referring to. What I said also applies to a 256 or anything above 128 really as the phone cannot read anything higher than 128. Yes, 200 gb is a strange storage size for a SD card, but a 200 GB card does exist

Personally recommended class 10 UHS-3
as the phone cannot read anything higher than 128.

Are you absolutely sure about that? Even a S3 can read a 256GB card

Have you personally confirmed this? I ask because the answer I gave was based on Samsung's own hardware limitations listed in the phones specs

i think this limitations is because there was no more than 128 GB at the time of it's release but in theory it can handle up to 2 TB
even though there is no 2 TB micro SD Card yet, since it supports SDXC

I understand why! Sadly they are not available in my country yet, so I bought a 32GB Samsung EVO+ Class 10 UHS-1, and now I don't get the "your SD card is slow" when formatting as adoptable, which I got with a class 10.

Samsung said that the S2 couldn't take any more than 32GB yet in fact it supported 64GB. So, it doesn't mean much what they say.

That's a fair point, but I just haven't seen anyone confirm the over 128 GB cards working and I'd hate for a guy to buy one and it only recognize 128 because they're stupid 'spensive!!
can confirm that the S5 has no issues with a 200GB microsd....SDXC class 10....although after formatting, only 186GB available.....
Not sure if anyone has done it yet, but I just pounced on and ebay auction for a 256gb evo+. If there is any intrest in a definitive answer to whether it is compatible or not, I will post back in about a week when I get it. As mentioned above, it should work being sdxc. Wish me luck!
