hi, so i flashed the brasilian 5.0.2 version, its possible to install another 5.0.2 version without making a downgrade and unlocking the bootloader, i want to flash my original firmware (which is the mexican one) when lollipop comes out
If it was the flashable zip from @lost101, then yes, you are free to do so. Lost101 made flashable zips that do not mess with the bootloader and you can install anything you want afterwards.
If you flashed the entire brazilian firmware via fastboot then I believe your boot loader may be a lollipop one, and I'm not sure if you could go back to kit Kat stock (which would not enable you for being print for the update)
so you mean i have to make a downgrade in order to install a new firmware? its not possible to directly install the lollipop update from another region?
Well... Long story short
If you want to update the official update for your phone, you'll have to flash the full stock firmware in order to be prompted for a lollipop update.
If that happens, your boot loader will update to lollipop and the downgrading is impossible
If you use the flashable zips you can flash anytime, from any ROM, from any version

The Brazilian and all other flashable zips here on the android Dev section from @lost101 have updating disabled, because they don't recommend boot loader update (if you want to continue using root or flash roms efficiently)
yes i know that, i flashed the entire brazilian firmware amd updated to 5.0.2, the thing i want to do, is to intall the mexican lollipop firmware when it comes out, without making a downgrade to KitKat

In your case, there should be no problem with flashing the Mexican Lollipop firmware when it is available.

Hello. This thread is mainly for questioning/research/knowledge, as I don't have any major issue with my phone right now. I had retail ar firmware 4.4.4 with locked LB, converted to 4.4.4 Retail BR, tried to install the ota, it didn't (because locked bl) and when I tried to go back to retail AR i bricked (downgraded for boot) and I couldn't flash it properly due to preflash validation error (locked bl) so I unlocked BL and now everything works fine, and I sucessfully installed the XT1033 OTA on my XT1032, runs pretty good.
I've been reading on the incompatibility between bootloaders of 4.4 and 5.0.
For now I will wait to official update for XT1032 and flash that, but couldn't you just use the reflash bootloader tool that is around this forum and flash a 4.4.4 bootloader and all the stock firmware files? In case I for some reason wanna go back for 4.4.4.
If you install 5.0 on a 4.4 bootloader using cwm, does it work correctly? If it does, why do they update the bootloader in the first place?
Is there any working custom recovery for L? or in development? In case In the future when the OTA gets released I wanted to flash viper4audio (I'm priving myself of that beauty that I used on old phones just for the locked BL [warranty brah] but obviously not a problem now..) or I could just root and use one of those zip flashing apps? (I cant remember its name)
Thanks.

you mean the hard brick when your pc only detects it as qcom-something? that's bad for you
I only softbricked mine luckily, but I'll let you know anyway I felt damn stupid when I couldn't boot my phone because of my sudden impatience after waiting months from this update, just because didn't wait a little more
iirc there are some methods on the forum I think using that tool I mentioned to get it back, good luck with that

I suggest you not to downgrade to 4.4.4 as of now. you flashed OTA and you are in lollipop now.. Enjoy.... And wait for official release OTA for Xt1032 and firmware files. Once it released, Devs will surely create flashable zips... then you can reflash your version lollipop... People reporting bricks and many dspaly issue when they tried downgrading it..

because i dont have image file 4.4.4 . only file 4.4.3 on my pc
Hi,
I have two Moto G 2013 XT1033 Dual Sim and for both of them - i dont care about losing data and reinstalling - I want to get to a 100% STOCK 5.0.2 state. Dont need root or customer boot.
No 1) Upgraded from 5.0.1 Soak Test Brazil - 220.21.25.falcon_umtsds.Brasil.en.BR, no root, stock bootloader > to 5.0.2 using the incremental ZIP that was provided in some of the recent posts here.
Will I be getting automatic OTAs from now on? Is this equivalent to stock flashing 4.4.4. an then OTAing up to 5.0.2?
No 2) Optimized non-stock firmware 4.4.4, with bloatware reduced etc. dont remember who made the ROM - also Retail, but bootloader unlocked and have root
What is the best approach to this one to a stock 5.0.2, no-root, locked bootloader, is there just a single binary stock 5.0.2 file that I can flash?
Should I downgrade both to 4.4.4 Stock and then upgrade via OTA?
I know for (1) there exists an incremental update, how safe is this?
For (2) the OTA arrived, but as its an optimized ROM the update does not work.
I know all the information is somewhere here, I just was confused what path is safe and if its not possible to simply flash some binary recovery (ideally already to 5.0.2)
I think you should back to 4.4.4 than upgrade to 5.0.2
For back to stock 4.4.4 you can use this

upgrade to 5.0.2 try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3004757

One of my malware protection tools rejected the untouched brazil 4.4.4 download. Where do I find the original files and confirmed hashes?
Hello forum, basically, when I got my moto G, it was on 4.3, so I did all the bits, and the step i did after all the rooting unlocking etc was upgraded my bootloader to the lollipop one (ending in 8 i believe) - which i wish i didnt do, and cant downgrade to 4.4.4 (or can I without bricking)......right back to the story.......the problem now is, whenever i try uninstalling apps, or wiping data in any app etc, my phone does a reboot, I installed the brazillian 5.0.2 flashable rom (the optimised one) which worked perfectly, did all the correct wipes etc, but it reboots when uninstalling apps......, and thought i would try dirty unicorns....works well except the rebooting problem...... help....what can I do????????
I read somewhere that maybe to solve it, you gotta change runtime from dalvik to ART, but there is no option to change this....
There are no 5.0.2 uk images available that i have read (so i cant completely get back to complete factory settings)
I really wished i kept the KK bootloader!!!! so who can help me????? I want to try some of the great CM11 builds!!!
Since your bootloader is unlocked and you have the lollipop bootloader, I suggest flashing the stock 4.4.4 (not 4.4.2) ROM for your xt1032 (you will not be able to flash the motoboot file so don't bother trying), upgrade the Motorola apps via Play store, and take the 5.02 OTA update.
FInd your stock ROM here: http://www.filefactory.com/folder/c6cdedc45a775d27/?sort=filename&order=ASC&show=100&page=1

do i have to update to 5.0.2 again? as i want to try cm11 again
@audit13 is this a flashable zip, or do you need to do it via fastboot? as its got a bootloader included in the zip (4.4.4 kitkat bootloader)
The files from filefactory need to be unzipped and flashed via fastboot or mfastboot.
You do not need to do anything with the stock ROM if you want to install a custom ROM. All you need to do is install a compatible custom recovery and a custom ROM. I suggest flashing right to the latest CM12 rather than using CM11.
I suggested flashing back to the stock for your phone and upgrading to 5.02 via OTA to see if the uninstall problem goes away.
yep understood @audit13 read your other posts on this matter too, the reason I want to use a cm11 rom, is I had a moto g about 8-9 months ago, and there was a rom i loved, and it was cm11 based......will i brick if i do flash this cm11 rom? i know about flickering bug, and possible hard brick if i went back to versions below 4.4.4 ...... and i love cyanogenmod roms, as i dont get irritating moto updates etc
Flashing CM11 should not be a problem as CM11 ROMs do not touch the bootloader or modem.
so basically, downgrade to the 4.4.4 firmware file, and cm11 and im done? yeah?
You can try to flash cm11 directly over stock 5.02. If it doesn't work, you may have to flash back to stock 4.4.4, install recovery, and then flash cm11.
Ok, so here's the thing: I have a US retail XT1032.
I flashed the GPE Kitkat into my phone to get the Lollipop update back when there was no Lollipop for US retail. When I had the GPE Kitkat, I did the OTA to Lollipop 5.0.1.
After that, I tried to OTA to 5.1, but the upgrade stopped suddenly and no upgrade was made. And here's where I screwed up.
A friend of mine told me that, from Lollipop onwards, you couldn't upgrade unless you had a locked bootloader. So I tried to lock it. The problem is that I couldn't find the 5.0.1 GPE firmware, so I foolishly thought that I could use the 5.1 directly. That rendered my phone stuck at bootloader. So I downgraded to Kitkat and now it works.
I'd like to get back to Lollipop, but when I try to flash the GPE 4.4.4 ROM, it fails at every step. I don't want to try the Motorola OTA because I'm afraid something may go horribly wrong again, and because I don't want the Motorola firmware but the GPE.
Is there a way to do that, or am I stuck in Kitkat?
You can go here and see if you can find the appropriate firmware for your phone.
Wipe, flash and reboot.
BTW, OTA updates will fail every time if you do not have a completely stock system including stock recovery.

I was initially on 3's S056_UK firmware. Then I flashed S062_ROW over it, no issues so far. I think flashing the S232 over the S062 won't lead to any problems as well. I suggest first to move to S062 as there is no OTA for S056 to S232. Then flash the OTA. Of course you can also do a clean Nougat install if you wish. This is if you go for the twrp version which I prefer.
The link in this thread is for the fastboot version, so you can full wipe your current rom and install this perfectly fine.
The zip on that site is taken from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p2/development/7-0-lenovo-p2a42-stock-nougat-update-t3581517
Even the first method is wrong because this zip is for recovery.Method 2 is correct.
Can someone provide me with a twrp restore file? I tried to flash the stock rom but the bat file that came with it tampered with some files and I can't even boot into the stock rom
