[Q] Best OnePlus One ROM ? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I just bought a Oneplus One a few months ago & I just upgraded my OnePlus One to CM12s via OTA.
==> I can finally go into deep sleep mode thanks to Calkuin's Google Play Services patch, and I'm wondering if there's some "most used & stable ROMs" on the OnePlus One ? (Like for my old N7000)
I know that it depends on a lot of things, but I would like :
1 - Stable ROM
2 - Light if possible, don't like having a lot of apps (But I can remove them w/Titanium backup pro etc.)
3 - Lot of functionnalities (at least Cyanogen ones : double tap, led notification...)
Thanks !

There's a thread discussing this at the top of our general section.

[OFFICIAL]CM10 Official for D2VZW GSIII - M2 (Oct 11 2012) and later nightlies

Since the other CM10 official nightly thread is getting a bit unwieldy, I am starting a new thread that represents only discussions from CM10 M2 (Oct 11, 2012) release and later.
To participate in this thread, you must have minimally installed M2 with the following procedure:
Wiped your phone clean (everything... cache, dalvik, system, etc.)
Flashed back to stock OFFICIAL Touchwiz (NOT a leaked Touchwiz ROM)
Installed CM10 M2 (http://get.cm/?device=d2vzw&type=snapshot)
Upgraded (dirty or clean) from M2 to a new release
Installed an official Gapps (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version/Google_Apps)
Why? Everyone starts with the same baseline install on this thread. If you've decided to try another ROM, other third party stuff, etc. and come back to CM10 nightlies, you must go through the above 5 steps FIRST. That ensures that we are all talking about the same type of release.
This thread is NOT for:
Those who are playing around with custom kernels (why? CM10 bundles their own kernel and bug tracking on official releases is hard to nail down is you're running something that CM10 was never intended to run with)
Those who have not flashed clean at the beginning of M2 (why? everyone follows a consistent load process)
Those who are still using old versions (why? way too many bug fixes have happened)
thanks for share.
Some issues that are frequently asked about that still exist in M2:
-Low record volume (wrong mic used to record) on videos and when speaking to Google Now is still an issue
-Call volume seems to require you increase/decrease call volume once a call has started to "reset" it to a correct volume. After that it works correctly (for me). Some people are reporting that call volume is too loud even at the lowest setting. I'm in a quiet room right now and the lowest setting seems OK to me.
I don't think that it is wise to bifurcate the CM discussion further. I will continue posting at the original thread unless the OP agrees with you and closes his thread and routes everyone here. I suggest that everyone else do the same.
Just my opinion, nothing personal.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Also important to note USB audio still not functioning in M2
While I agree that the original thread has gotten long, we do not need to have this new one created. Anyone keeping up to date with nightlies will only need to view the last 5 or 6 pages to get an idea of what the current outstanding issues are, and whether or not there are fixes available.

Nice thread, maybe you can list what's available (making difference between A700 & A510) splitting by 2 categories : Acer ROM based, AOSP ROM based
Cheers
new user here, so what's the best ROM for A700s? alot of people seem to be on the iconian but it seems the developer is gone, so I guess it should be the cm10.1 version by pawitp?
don't plan to do alot of gaming on it, mainly for magazine reading & web browsing since i've amassed a whole lot of unread zinio magazines which I've subscribed using the free codes they've been generously giving me over the last year.

Not sure what happened to vorbeth and iconian. Most of the roms have been around for awhile, and not a lot of issues.
pawitp has the CM which gets updates.
There,s a rootbox version, and Iconian. Iconian runs Acer build.
As with running Acer builds, we're dependant on Acer to push updates, which unfortunately doesn't happen often. However, in my opinion, there's less incompatibility issues with games. Just my opinion. This is why you don't see a lot of updates on the roms. Example, I'll push my first update since release. Audio improvements for folks that appreciate good audio. A little theming, and custom Acer ring.
I'd say flash them all, and see what works best for you. You usually know within a day or so, if you like the rom.
You are right, I flashed them all. Somehow stock is faster than CM & Iconian but your ROM is the best Thanks
I flashed CM10.1.3 RC2 to my A700. Has been working well and I really enjoy the new features I gained coming from stock. Most importantly for me CM gave me a higher touch sensitivity which drastically improved my user experience and was the main reason I switched to CM. It can have some lag tho.
I was thinking about flashing the kiteman V4.1 kernel to see if it helps with the lag, but I need to verify if the "Very High" touch sensitivity option will still be available. If anyone can advise it would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I was thinking about flashing the latest Evil Alex ROM because I have read good reviews. Again, most importantly I need to verify whether touch sensitivity will be increased comparable to CM10.1. Perhaps Moscow Desire or boringest you can inform me?
I would say pawtips' CM 10.2 worked best for me so far. The performance is great and feels far less sluggish than stock, which I had before. Also not having all the branding stuff from Acer also improved the device a lot

i just do some experiment,
replace CM 11 /system/bin/rild with CM 10.2 rild
adding build.prop line with:
rild.libpath=/system/lib/libhuawei-ril.so
rild.libargs=-d /dev/ttyUSB2
one hours trying A701 playing rock music album from Apollo, check on off powerbutton every
5minutes ,
Screen-off problem not occurs yet
but another problem with 3G
*A701 can see network, but 3G Data not connected (3G icon signal bar full)
*set DNS > No network DNS: blank , ip : blank
*wifi works fine
hope someone check CM11 rild file for us A701 users
You should ask @pawitp

Hey A700 users. I'm helping a friend and offered to patch up his A700 from what appears to be stock Android 4.1.1 Build Acer_AV051_A700_1.052.00_PA_CUS1. This does not appear to be the 3G model. I don't see anything in the ROM for mobile networks, and what appears to be the SIM slot next to Micro SD looks like it has a glued in plastic tab in it, not user removable without a bit of force.
So, looks like I need to unlock bootloader, install TWRP/CWM, and choose a ROM which is where my question is aimed. I'm wanting to choose a ROM that is mostly up to date, but also does not have any hardware issues. It appears that CM 12.1 has issues with HDMI which I would like to avoid.
I'm looking for in priority:
1) All hardware working (no workarounds, or other things I need to add as a "if this happens go here and do that" kind of stuff)
2) Stable
3) Up to date.
It appears a lot of ROMs are not seeing much activity which is understandable due to the age of the tablet. I'm keen to just flash this once onto something that is a good daily driver and be done.
After some additional digging I'm thinking about CM11: https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_a700
It's strait forward, I know CM well enough....
I still have my old A510 wall mounted for home automation on CM11 4.4.4 . But the problem is that I can not install newer applications. Any way to get newer version of android on it?
FYI, I just installed our last Android 6 build (https://builds.unlegacy-android.org/aosp-6.0/picasso2/) to my A700 that I'm giving to a relative, as I believe it is rather stable. It's the last stable Android version for this device (Android 7+ has various graphics issues), and it uses kernel 3.4. It can be used with an up-to-date TWRP, such as: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/a51x-a70x-aka-picasso-2-recovery-twrp-3-1-1-0.2678284/.
I'm sure there was a thread for it here, but I just can't find it now...
I upgraded my A700 from latest official CM11 to above mentioned unlegacy build. Unfortunately since then I'm experiencing massive audio distortion so that I had to revert back. Is there anything I missed or anyone with same experience?

Would be epic to share this one!! thank you
I didn't realise i could upload files hopefully it works.

Just got a nexus 5 and new to KitKat - Halp please, stupid questions alert.

Hello,
New user here and I have gone from a custom modaco rom 2.1 Froyo LG 2X (4 years old i know crazy right?!) to the Nexus 5 and KitKat.
I have tried to google Android KitKat user guide for some help in how to get past little problems but all Google gives back is stupid advertising crud for their new version of Android can anyone point me to a decent user guide for it or am i being stupid?
More importantly - I have had the phone on for 4 hours, no media loaded on the device yet and the Media server has used over 51% of the battery run time - i have seen that this was a major issue in Jelly Bean and cannot believe it has not been fixed in KitKat, what causes it and how i can i stop this monstrosity from draining my battery so badly?
Many thanks,
Hunterm

The media server issue is mostly caused by corrupt date that forces the scanner to keep scanning. For the user N5 manual google around or better yet learn to know the N5 by trying seeting/apps and options and see what it does.
Root (cf root by chainfire) and install this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.addz.mediascannerroot
Striatum Thankyou for this I will do so eventually - for a couple of days at least I am just enjoying the device in its virginal state!
I managed to answer my first question - in settings there are 3 vertical dots that have a help option when touched - this links direct to the Google nexus 5 manual in chrome!
I also disabled permanently in the app settings the extra languages, such as Urdu, Nepalese and Arabic script, cannot say for sure this fixed the media server issue but it has gone away.
The person who replied initially to my post - what a terrible way to welcome a new user to xda forums.

[Advice request]"best" alternative ROM for HTC One M7 to replace Cyanogenmod
Hi,
Currently running my HTC One M7 under Cyanogenmod 11 with the today's latest release, I would like to try something new - I'm not so fan of Cyanogenmod
What ROM do you recommend?
Knowing that I mostly use my phone as... phone
emails (MS exchange + gmail)
music listening
photographs
linkedin but not FB
and from time to time games
a battery "friendly" ROM will be highly appreciated

There is no "BEST" rom or solution as it depends on what you personally like or even not
You should always manually pick the apps you need as you can install them on every rom. I almost never use any preinstalled apps, even on custom roms.
Some of my personal favourites:
ProCapture (paid) --> awesme camera app
K9 Mail --> very funtional as you can install widgets and encryption as adds
Viper4Android --> All equalizer options you could ever imagine
Apollo --> Light and simple ss you know from Cyanogenmod
About "battery friendly" :
That really depends on you, search xda for it and you will find houndred (or thousands) of post about it.
- using a custom kernel and set it up matching your needs is really suggested for a better battery life.
- using "disable service" from the playstore to disable unwanted and non needed background processes (fu... google)
- use as less google apps as possible
and the usual stuff:
- uninstall all apps you don't need
disable:
- pocket detection
- auto sync
- location services
- reduce brightness
- disable UI vibrations
- ...
- just search xda for plenty of other options
Many thanks LS.xD!
Coming back to the custom kernel, need help.
I have recently flashed the handy ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2485651 )
Is this valuable for longer battery life time or are there other optimizations I could do?
Sorry for the "dummy" questions, I'm not enough used to these "tinkering"

[CLOSED] Do we need a forum for Redmi Note 11 4G(spes) device?

Despite numerous requests for adding a forum for Redmi Note 11 4G(spes) device, this website has continuously ignored the requests for the same stating "not much discussed", "not much user interest", etc.
So, please vote it out here for one last time to show how much of a user base need a forum for Redmi Note 11 4G(spes)
Okay, 9 votes till now and all say "YES" a forum is needed.
Now, how does one decide how many votes needed to open a forum?!

So, nine votes from 11+ million XDA accounts. At least in my (democratic) country such a poll or party wouldn't make it into the smallest community parliament but I can ensure you that such a democratic petition would be at least filed by the administration. And even if I relax that to probably 15,000 - 20,000 members seen on XDA today (I didn't check the exact number) it wouldn't void my statement.
However, we might have another issue here: XDA-Developers is NOT a democracy but a privately owned website that is run by the guidances, policies and intentions of its owners and who have implemented the XDA constitution, the so-called XDA Forum Rules!
Personally I've no insight into the conditions when the admistrators create specific device fora in closest coordination with the site owners but my XDA search shows me that obviously never a development related thread for your subject device or just tutoriaks have been created although fora for this respect are available:
Miscellaneous Android Development
For ROMs, kernels, tools and scripts only (devices that do not have a forum on XDA)
forum.xda-developers.com
Android General
Android root tutorials, one-click root tools, ROMs and other Android modifications can be found in this forum for devices without a dedicated device forum
forum.xda-developers.com
Despite the lack of development threads for your device, there's certainly another chance to get a forum for it. I suggest to get in contact with your OEM and to convince them to a respective cooperation with XDA.
My esteemed team mate @TNSMANI has already closed one of your duplicate threads. Although commisioned by the above linked forum constitution (or rules) I've so far refrained from a deletion of your repeating duplicate or your demanding posts. Allow me to suggest that you review the XDA constitution, which you agreed to adhere to when you registered about 3 1/2 years ago, with special emphasis on article 2.3 and article 5. Thanks for your cooperation!
Pending on how this event continues I reserve the right to also remove earlier posts by you.

I've tried installing the stock rom first but no such luck, guess I'll try eu rom now
Man this bureaucracy is killing me.
Every single Redmi Note device is popular, there's no reason to not have a subforum for it. It's not even that hard to make a new subforum. The Note 11 will be insanely popular because of the 90hz display and superb battery life.
It's not like this is some obscure device from Panasonic or Energizer or some stuff like that.
On GSMArena alone, the Redmi Note 11 (SPES/SPESN) has 20,000 DAILY page visits.
Of course it would greatly help ROM development if we had one unified place for the ROMs and stuff.

you are right
bought the NFC version of this device (codename: spesn). What can I say after a month of use: Screen - very good, battery - excellent, and I was pleasantly surprised by the audio quality (headphones). I'm waiting for the transition to the A12.
Don't be like StackExchange, you're better than that.
This phone was released on February 9, 2022. Today is 25 May 2022, three months and sixteen days later, still nothing. 3 and a half months and the admins or whatever can't take 5 minutes to make a subforum for this great phone.
Good thing there's forums for RN11 Pro+ 5G (peux/veux), RN11 Pro 4G (viva/vida), RN11S 4G (fleur), RN11T; BUT not the damn spes/spesn. Every model BUT the most popular one has a subforum. Even the damn Helio/Dimensity/Mediatek CPU RN11's have subforums... seriously now.
What can we do to get a subforum for spes/spesn? This is the SNAPDRAGON version. So modding is easy.
I can't believe, it could be happened? I had bought Snapdragon version thinking I will find mods easily but till date there's not a forum for device, development is later thing
