I've disabled everything that I currently do not need.
Is it normal for the Android System to run at 20%?
I can't post pictures yet

Have disabled almost 15 stock apps on my non-rooted Nexus 5. Would a System update go wrong when done without enabling those apps?
Probably a noob question, but had to ask since official Android L 5.0 update is around the corner
When updated from 4.4 to 4.4.4 I've disabled some system apps too. But it doesn't make a problem, all works fine.
OTA fails if you modify system. Disabling apps is not modifying system. System cannot be modified without root.
Hey all,
I've got a Comigo set top box, and it runs Android 4.4.2... Play Store doesn't work anymore but I can still install apps as .apk packages. The caveat is that I have to get versions that don't use API newer than 19. A lot of apps don't work right because apparently there are some things missing or not configured correctly.
The issue at hand is that apps can't show web content inside an app and prompt instead to open in external browser app (Google Chrome for example). Is Android System WebView the component I need? I searched around for an .apk and the lowest version I found was 40. Version 40 uses API 21, but my device supports API only up to 19. I believe the version I need is 36. Could someone point me to a download or post me the .apk file so I could install it on my device?
The build should be for arm architecture.
Thanks a bunch!
PS I don't have any KitKat devices to back it up from, all I have is Jelly Bean and Lollipop, neither will do.
Incorrect. Version 36 is the one found in L Developer Preview which I believe is still API 21 (or 20). While WebView in Android 4.4 is indeed based on Chrome, it only got repackaged as a separate APK with Android 5.0. In other words, there doesn't seem to be a way to install any of the WebView APKs on Android 4.4.
See here for details.
Did you manage to sort this one out?
HI with the previous ROMS ive used i am able to remove bloatware like bluetooth , basic daydreams, print spooler ,sim tool kit ,fused location ,mobile broadcasts, carrierdefault app etc using a frdroid debloat application running as root.
it works perfect with AOSP ROMS, and havoc os etc , YET when i try to do the exact same thing with a exact same phone running LineageOS 18.1 (android 11) it causes the system to bootloop and reboots to recovery after the LineageOS logo just flashes for ages.. anyone know why this is or how i can work around it ?
you probably removed some software that's needed from the ROM to work correctly, if android needs an app to perform basic functions this might happen, you can still debloat it, just try to understand which app removal is causing the bootloop and remove all the apps but that one

yes i tried this ! i tried removing one by one and they all cause bootloops(having to reflash the rom in twrp each time) .. what i cant understand it why only Linageos causes a bootloop with other roms i can remove the exact same PKGS without this happening...
i was thinking perhaps it might have to do with the android version the other roms i can do this on are all runnning on android 9 // when i have tried this on roms using android 10/11 it doesnt work. i think there has been a change to the system wide config of some sort that checks the hiarchy on boot /
By default a phone's bootloader at the begining loads vbmeta.img what holds the hard-coded hashcodes of Android's ( critical ) partitions like /system and then checks whether these partitions got tampered or not.
So in case you make any changes to /system partition ( e.g. remove system apps ) a successfully booting into Android OS must fail.
Hi,
I was following this amazing guide about debloat your phone https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/ and um I removed some system apps. stuff like xclub and xclone and xaccounts (mostly by infinix) and carlcare and phone master plus some google apps like google play and google play servers and google maps
Now after this, I noticed when I go to system updates and click 'online update' nothing happens like it's broken. usually it leads me to system update application (which is still installed btw) but that do not happen so I'm little unsure which app I removed caused or broke my phone update functionality. so if you could help me determine which package actually I removed caused this or a way to fix it without hard reset and uninstall and reinstall applications again.
Thanks in advance.
Refllash phone's Stock ROM to get rid off of all mods you applied so far.
Removing system apps - what requires Android is got rooted - is never a good idea because they are part of Android OS.

Yeah...I made factory reset again and updates was handled by google play (this is super weird)
Hello, I am currently making a few software modifications on my rooted Galaxy S9 on which I installed Noble ROM from AlexisXDA to be able to use one ui 4.1 with android 12. Now I’m trying to install One UI 5 apps on it, so I already installed Samsung Messages, Contacts, Phone dialer and Gallery as system apps using Lucky Patcher and everything worked as expected, and these apps simply replaced the old ones. Though, now I am struggling to install One UI 5 files app (aka Samsung My Files 14.x). This app is only supposed to be compatible with android 12L and more recent, but I managed to change the min SDK requirement to make it run on android 12. After I changed the min SDK I installed it as system app using Lucky Patcher and now everything is working until I long press a file which makes the app crash. Digging into android files, I noticed in the system/priv-app folder that the original version of MyFiles was still installed and I can’t delete it. Second thing I noticed, in the original MyFiles folder (in private app) there’s a file with the same name as the apk but the extension .prof is added next to it. I don’t know what this file is but I’m pretty sure this is what makes the original version work fine. So, can anyone tell me what this prof file is, and how I could make one for my custom My Files App please ?
Only for clarity:
Apps stored in /system/app are APKs what are indispensable part of Android OS - user apps has nothing to do there
whereas
apps stored in /system/priv-apps are APKs to be granted system permissions, regardless of the app signature: they at any time can get removed - mostly without any harm but requires Android is got rooted

So, if I understand it correctly it means my version of the app gets rejected every time by the priv-app folder right ? Unlike the preinstalled My Files app which is granted system permissions ?
