Amazon uk giving away £75 of free apps today - General Topics

They're are some good apps and games in the Amazon android app store
Sign into your Amazon account first then click on this link
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000644603
Click on get started and follow the instructions to install the Amazon android app store. Please note this is a different app to the Amazon shopping app.
Ps This is a rival app store to the Google play store, which is why Google won't allow it in the play store, hence the reason you have to turn off security to allow you to install this app.

Does it let you see all recent added games as I don't like on google playstore that you can only see the top new games and not just all new games.
Thanks for sharing

[Q] apps on sale alert

is there anyway to set-up alerts for apps on sale at either Play or Amazon apps?
There's AppSales, but it's only for Google Play.

well that's something.
Uh oh!! Your Appsale link doesn't work anymore. Is there anything else? I'm curious about this too. I want to get NFS: Most Wanted on sale. LoL!!
And there was no way for me to get directly to the 25 cent Google Play sale unless I went through a link on the website. I didn't know how to navigate through the Desktop Play Store to find these apps. I definitely didn't know how to find these apps in the Mobile Play Store.
Sorry for my rant. =.P
The link still works. You can also go to Google Play and search for appsales.
Appzapp is a newish app in the play store which I use to keep informed of sales. It's still in beta but if it turns out to be as good as the ios version it will be a great app

Ah!! You're right. I opened it from my tablet and it worked. But I couldn't go to the link from my computer. Anyways I found it so thanks.

[Q] Play, Amazon, GetJar, GiveMeApps, Which App Stores Do You Use?

I recently checked out App Brain which is as old as day. GiveMeApps has no developer fees, uses paypal and gives developers 100%. GetJar has a global reach and most if not all of their apps are free which is great and they have GetJarGold.
Which other app stores have you used? I even recently came across an "adult" app store (had no idea those existed until this morning!)
I only use the google play store. I used the Amazon one for a while because of the deals they had, but it really wasn't worth it, IMO. So now I just stick with the Play store. If I need to install something they dont' have I just download and install via the APK.
i am use google play and 1mobile market

Is this piracy on Amazon's app store?

I've just discovered that Amazon has an app store for Android. I was looking at an app and I noticed that there are two different publisher names given for the two different instances of the app. See the screenshots (click to enlarge).
Amazon app store:
Google Play app store:
Is "softDesk" trying to sell someone elses app or am I just confused?
I believe it is the old version while it was not FREE.

Google Play Store not Downloading Apps

Hello,
My dad bought himself a Mate 9 Pro in China and brought it back home today. I've installed the GMS from the HiApp app store and downloaded the Google Play store from there as well.
When I try to download apps from the Play store, the apps won't download. It continues to say "downloading" but no progress is being made.
I am downloading apks in the interim, but would be much more convenient if I could take advantage of the Play Store.
Am i doing something wrong? The build number is b156, if I'm reading it correctly.
I've tried:
- Deleting cache and data from Google Play Store
- Reinstalling GMS
- Allowing unknown sources for app downloads (i.e. from places other than HiApp) and app installations.
- Granting all permissions to Play Store and Play Services
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Check the permissions in the app settings, make sure Play store has access to internal storage. I just allowed all permissions for the play store and any google related services.
Do not try anything else. I have tried all kinds of solutions including the ones you listed above. Just be patient and wait for system update to solve the problem and download some 3rd party store like apkpure as a temporary solution

I forgot to mention that, but yes, I did grant all permissions to play store and Google Play services, but I'm still having issues. Thanks for the response !

Yeah, I may just do that for now. My dad doesn't use that many apps anyway so I can probably just download the rest of the apks he needs and install them manually as well. Thanks!

Malicious apps removed on Play store?

Coming from the iPhone I'm wondering about the latest news that Google found malicious apps on the Play store... Does Google not look at these things before they are allowed to be on the Play store?! Wtf?!
How do I know when I'm downloading an app from the store I'm not frying my Pixel 2xl in the long run???

Google does scan & manually check apps before release to Play store, but there are always new bugs or malicious techniques being found. As Google has a more open store & lots more apps than Apple you do have to be a bit more cautions than with an IPhone, statistically you should be safe
see

I'd recommend you also have an additional GOOD antivirus installed, though many will say you don't need it.

I don't use an anti virus. Just be mindful of what you install. Always look at permissions.
Always look at the number of downloads and compare it with the review score.
If an app has 1 million or more downloads, uses permissions relevant to its functionality and has a 4.2 or higher score, it's probably safe. Find an app that gets updated regularly. An app that hasn't been updated in over a year, has higher potential to have a vulnerability.
Don't load your phone up with apps. The more you have, the larger the potential attack surface.
There are usually alternative apps with minimal permissions if you take the time and look. I include "open source" along with my search term. You'd be surprised what's on the Play Store.
And finally, stay away from the Facebook app.
